Convenient Location But Falls Short on Comfort and Amenities I recently stayed at St. Christopher Hammersmith and, unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. While the location is undeniably convenient and the pricing reasonable, there are several issues that need to be addressed. 1. Unexpected Fees: First off, I was surprised to be asked for a 2-euro cash payment just to receive my room key card. It’s 2023; cash-only fees are outdated and inconvenient. 2. Unhelpful Staff: The front desk was neither helpful nor friendly during my interactions with them, making the overall experience quite unwelcoming. 3. Noise Levels: A club located downstairs keeps the music going until 3 am, and it’s not just audible— the entire building vibrates to the beat. This makes it extremely difficult to get a good night’s sleep. 4. Lack of Facilities: Lastly, the hostel is seriously lacking in terms of restroom and shower facilities. With only 2 toilets and 1 shower for the entire 2 floors of guests sharing rooms, it’s simply not enough. Also the room didn’t contain any sort of ventilation! It was unimaginably hot and the two standing fans that were there did nothing at all. Overall, unless you’re just looking for a place to drop your bags and you plan to spend very little time actually at the hostel, I can’t recommend St. Christopher Hammersmith.

This place is horrible and the staff lied to us. When we arrived, the beds were allocated was dirty and had been used. They had no housekeeping staff or clean bed linens. They kept moving us around to different dorm rooms but all the beds were so dirty. Additionally, we had specifically selected an all girls dorm but they didn’t have any clean beds in the girls dorm. In the end we were told that we can get a refund except for the first night so we decided to book a hotel for the rest of our trips. That night the staff guaranteed it and the next morning the manager guaranteed it at check out as well. I asked him to send me an email regarding that but he said he couldn’t do it but that we will definitely get the refund. Now the management is saying that I cannot get a refund. If we were not told by the staff about the refund then we wouldn’t have booked another hotel. They should have been honest and upfront about it with us. Horrible experience and service. It is such a disappointment because st christopher’s is usually a good hostel.

First time staying in a hostel, having issues renting at the moment in london. I have to say I really enjoyed my time staying here, very convenient. Easy to travel into central. Staff are really Friday. Chelsea and the other security guy, the African guy on Wednesday’s. Didn’t catch his name. Very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone staying for a short period of time..

The Hostel is acceptable for the price but they need to be a bit more strict on who they let stay. Im sure many of the guests are local homeless. Also they charge you for luggage storage, quite expensive too (£5 for a big bag) so if you need to store a bag may as well just pay the extra at the start and choose a nicer hostel.

Unfortunately the hostel does not have a good “hostel vibe”. It’s also not cozy and it’s dirty and stinky rooms and no common rooms :( personally would not recommend and will choose a different place next time I come to London. Bar deals are good but not worth staying at the hostel for. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Very nice and clean for what you pay for!!! Obviously you can't expect luxury! It's very well located and the bar has such good vibes... Highly recommended...ideal for a short London break! I prefer it to the other hostels in London. You can also have a private room.

This hostel was old with very small rooms and beds so close to each other. The toilet and shower were also too small and for a female 8 bed room, there was a lot of waiting. The rooms needed a good cleaning . There wasn't a lounge or kitchen but only a public bar open at night. The breakfast was minimal and the hot beverage machine broke the last day I was there. The staff weren't at the front desk many times. The location is very good. Restaurants and shops all around and a quick underground ride to the center from across the street. I would not stay here again especially when there are so many better hostels .

I loved staying here!! The rooms were clean and quiet. I stayed in a 9 bed girls room with en suite bathroom and it was very comfortable, the only negative is that one of the windows wasn't closing properly but it was not cold in the bed once you closed the curtains. The staff was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, friendly, open and willing to help! Their biggest asset is their staff and they clearly have great recruiters. Special mention to Pedro, one of the guys at reception, that made my stay really comfortable and positive by helping and giving me all the information with a friendly smile! Thanks so much!

We stayed in the ensuite 9 bed female dorm. The staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was average but good for a hostel. Facilities were clean, the room was a bit noisy due to the bar and traffic. Every bunk has an outlet and a light. Bring your own lock for the locker. Otherwise they are around £5. Mind that there's no elevator. Will stay there again

DO. NOT. RECOMMEND!!!! If I could give 0 starts I would. Lucky for me I only stayed at this hostel for 2 nights. Once you check in the first thing you find out is that there’s NO ELEVATOR!! There are 4 floors to this hostel, it’s not convenient. There’s NO AIR CONDITIONING AT ALL. Not even fans. It was hotter in the rooms than outside! I thought I was going to die of a heat stroke. There’s also no actual common area so meeting people wasn’t convenient either. I’ve stayed at other St Christopher’s Inn’s and had better experiences. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here.

I usually use this chain all around Europe. Friendly staff always make me feel at home. The enthusiasm they have for hygiene is always highly appreciated. I always enjoy the early mornings in the bar with news from the big teles and nice breakfast.

Safe, clean and good value for money. Book direct with them and get free breakfast and meal discounts at the bar! Ideal for backpackers… Of course it’s not a 5 star place, so limit your expectations. Sometimes can be noisy, you’re sharing rooms with other adult strangers..they won’t all have habits like yours. If your assigned bed is taken you could just walk to the reception and notify them. Or if you’re missing some bedding.

The inn was nice and welcoming. The place did a good job of what it was supposed to do - provide you with a clean bed and a roof in the city. That’s about it. The best facilities on the second floor are right next door to the room 204! A spacious shower + 🚾 with a medium sized mirror. Bring your own towel though, they ain’t giving you one (at least not for free)

This was the worst hostel I’ve stayed so far. I visited the Christopher’s Inn in Barcelona so I thought this was going to be a similar experience. Very rude staff, please hire people who like to help guests and do not hate their job. There were 2 shared bathrooms for an entire floor, and those bathrooms were disgusting. Nightclub downstairs which can be heard from all the rooms, impossible to sleep, also we heard fights and drunk people outside. Finally, the security guys from the club were unexpectedly rude to us, they use the same entrance for the hostel and the club, so if in the evening/night, you want to go outside to buy something or just to smoke a cigarette, when you try to enter again with YOUR HOSTEL CARD, then you have to face the security who demand you to immediately show your ID (one day the told me I could not enter?)Then you have to explain to them you are staying at the hostel and they let you in, but every time you want to go outside is the same uncomfortable situation. It’s crazy, like asking for permission. I highly do NOT recommend it.

I just would not recommend here. It's affordable yes & the location is good but for an extra few pounds a night I would suggest trying somewhere else. The toilet rarely had toilet roll in them & 2 of 3 toilets on my floor were blocked numerous times in my 2 night stay. On the day of checking out my card wouldn't work 20 minutes before check out. So I had to go down through social areas & to reception in my pj's. The bunk aren't comfortable, I kept waking up in sore on whichever side I had been lying on & there was absolutely no head, as in you can't sit up in the bunk.

The rooms are relatively clean but really cold and loud. The location is good for getting around London as it's right opposite the Hammersmith station but other than that it's just fine. Not the worst hostel I've stayed at, the bathrooms need to be fixed because every time I went to use one it was clogged. Definitely the worst st Christopher's inn, does not hold up the same quality as any other ones I've stayed at. The reception when I was there were pretty brutal to some of the customers as well, which was strange considering some customers had to wait 15 minutes just to get served because no one was at the reception desk.

The rooms were good and have a good view from window and I would suggest don't go as walk inn for booking as don't entertain walk in only online bookings were served and from official website it's good to book as it also offer free welcome drink which you have to ask the reception straight after check in which will be served at ground floor at bar counter and they have different range of rooms I have stayed in many of them they were good and though comfortable also. Thanks Enjoy your trip 🤘🤩

Exceptional stay at this hostel! The warm welcome by Billy at the reception, complete with a complimentary beer, set the tone for a fantastic experience. Clean and comfortable rooms, great amenities, and outstanding hospitality make this hostel a standout choice. Billy's personal touch and generosity added a special touch to our stay. Highly recommend this place for a memorable and welcoming getaway!

I love this hostel. I stay in hostels regularly but when possible I always try to come back to hammersmith. It’s in a fantastic location to start with, direct tubes to everywhere. The rooms are spacious and on my most recent visit they had upgraded to having two pillows- game changer!! The food is great and the dining area is a lovely place to sit and catch up on work or socialise. As per my last visit, breakfast is included when you book direct and was great! 100% recommend this hostel above all others in London.

Best stay in London. Booked a private room with an ensuite bathroom for £15 TOTAL! You won’t find prices like this anywhere else. Room was clean and comfortable with a nice window for breeze. Book directly on the website for a free drink. 10/10 cannot recommend enough.

I stayed here for a night recently after a gig at the Hammersmith Apollo. For that venue, it is a perfect location. A 2-3 minute walk, so you can get back easily or queue early. The rooms were clean, I got a free drink and the service was fast and friendly. I had a cage to store my bag but required a padlock. My only complaints are the sound. The bar below was extremely loud boom boom music even at 1:30am. And I was on the 3rd floor. And as it’s located next to a tube station it was pretty loud in the early morning too. The beds came with easy access charger sockets, including UK, EU and USB ports. They were also very comfy for hostel standards with nice clean bed sheets and a pillow. There are plenty of toilets, so there was never a problem with queuing. Overall it felt safe and respectful.

The staff at check in were always friendly, courteous, helpful and constructive - appreciated. The hostel was cleaned regularly during the day - encouraging given the poor housekeeping standards exhibited by many of the hostellers.

I had a Fantastic time. One person who stuck out in my mind was Sarah. She was very helpful and supportive being African American in a strange town, she made me feel at home , with her delightful smile and patience and understanding,. Sarah is a angel and a prime example of how all staff should be.

Even though for the first 3 nights the radiator in the room wasn't working they quickly fixed it so my review is positive. Great location (in front of Hammersmith Station/ shopping centre), 24/7 reception (they provide with towels, padlocks, soap for the washing machine etc at low cost), daily housekeeping, breakfast at £5 served every day, etc).

They do not have an actual kitchen, there is just a very small hall with a microwave a kettle and uncomfortable chairs. There is no fridge. The rooms don't have lockers. That hall is the only common space where you can hang out without spending money. They have a pub downstairs that ok it's cheap I think 4 pounds for a beer. The bathrooms are ok but they are always missing basic soap. I don't know for some things nice, this pub downstairs has music and all, but for some could also be a problem cause you can hear it from your room. They give you free hearplugs by the way. My disappointment is that is missing the main thing of an hostel common space where you can do whatever you want. Also to smoke you have to go outside the building and sit on the ground.. I understand why but maybe somebody wants to know this before. The people seemed great by the way no strangers.

Another one of London’s money hungry chains, cramming as many beds possible into rooms on extremely uncomfortable triple decker bunks. Don’t expect a pillow thats not as thin and hard as cardboard. Absolutely no space to relax apart from your bunk that is not tall enough to sit up in. There’s a tiny area with a microwave, a couple of seats and a vending machine which was better than nothing but not very atmospheric (no windows at all). The sports bar downstairs is insanely loud with about 20 or more TVs on full blast. This is not the place to stay if you need to relax. It gave me anxiety. There aren’t enough showers/ toilets to accommodate everyone and they certainly aren’t kept clean either. There isn’t an elevator but many flights of stairs to lug your things. Not accessible at all. LOVED that fire alarm waking us up at 1am and lockers that don’t even lock! Do better if you are going to charge that much for horrible accommodation. (The one star is for those lovely Aussies behind the bar and Portuguese guy behind the desk)

I had a very terrible experience with customer service desk, he was so rude to me, dis was my worst customer services experience ever... The Beds were ok as hostel standard and neat bathroom I must say but zero customer service by one fair guy who said he is manager at d customer service desk on duty on 16h and 17th December 2022 nights, that's was terrible...too bad

St. Christopher's was a pleasant and comfortable stay. I just wish the bathrooms, showers were cleaner and there was a mirror in the bathroom so that I could shave on Floor THREE. rooms 301 - 305. Four Stars.

The most shocking service I’ve ever received. They refused to refund me for a night I had cancelled 5 days before check in, despite the fact they have a cancellation policy - they kept making excuses like that ‘I payed on PayPal so they can’t refund me’ , I checked, I didn’t pay on PayPal, they have ignored all of my emails repeatedly, every few days I get an automated response asking if the issue was resolved, and it isn’t, I know they’re seeing them all but are too lazy to do anything because when I went in they admitted they had seen all of them. In addition to this, I left some lost property and I called repeatedly for the next few days and only got the phone picked up once, the girl found my lost property and sent me an email confirming but then when I went in to get it 2 days later, they didn’t have it. I went in again to chase up my refund and try and find it , and they said they probably ‘gave it to charity’. My best guess is they decided to keep it, I’m actually disgusted with the appalling service and I now have to waste extra time contacting citizens advice bureau and trying to find contact details for further up the St. Christopher’s chain all to receive a refund that could be done so quickly and easily. Ridiculous - avoid!

good enough hostel and the crew staff were really lovely. and brilliant bar area with high quality TV screens. and yeah the prices are great if you're on a budget. be prepared that there will be loud music going on until 2am and you're probably be hearing loud music at your dorm which you will struggle to get to sleep.

This place was fantastic I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else!! Everyone was so friendly, Richie was so helpful with helping us find things to do in london as well as helping us with anything that came up along the way. We stayed for a week and a half and it was so clean and perfect location. The restaurant downstairs has a fun nightlife so you don’t have to go far and has an amazing breakfast/ bar! Everyone in their staff is so helpful and kind(: we will be back and will be highly suggesting this place to friends and family

Great secure hostel. The beds are a little low, so you can't really sit up in your bed but it does the job and it's in a really fantastic location. The breakfast is okay, very basic, and if the right person is on the front desk they're make sure that the food that comes out is pretty fresh. Really nice experience overall ☺️

(I was, at least, acknowledged by the company which is more than most Hotels have even done. Look forward to seeing a genuine difference my next stay) Clean, well presented, and cleverly put together! Could have done better with the customer service. Told them I had a major back injury and they put me 5 floors up, on a top bunk (highest of three bunk bed) and that was after telling me he thinks he booked me into a bottom bunk on the 1st floor....not cool. Breakfast that is £4 (unless you book directly through there site, then it's free) was basically stale bread, fruit that tastes like it's been refrigerated and kept as long as possible, stale cereal and luke warm drinks...wasn't impressed at all!

Feeling hot. Want to not sleep all night because of inescapable heat? It's only 18° outside but this form of 16 people is sealed. No fresh air. Since it's over a bar, even in this weather you are looking at about 28° heat to sleep in. This lets the place down massively. I won't revisit here because of this heat. If company head office could just force one of the staff to open a window or install an AC then you could make a LOT of your customers happier. But alas. This issue is costing a lot of money. Just look at the reviews on here if you don't believe me. It totally ruins the whole experience. Come try it. I promise you won't sleep

St Christopher's, Hammersmith. The staff are welcoming and cheerful; the hostel facilities are well managed and clean. I was checked in by Anita, who was efficient and kind. My two week stay was comfortable and pleasant.

I stayed at this hostel, and was very happy with my stay. It is situated in a good location, easy to get into Central London from here. The rooms are big and clean, the staff is Friendly. They could improve by incorporating special nights for guests to enjoy. I will definitely recommend this place, for a comfortable stay, which is good value for money.

Great service for this price. But wifi needs to be improved. They must remember that we as human beings need soap to ensure sterility. There were four wash basin on third flat but I could barely find a soap.

the location is strategic. very kind staff. Breakfast paid 4 pounds but on my arrival everything was finished, so I paid 4 pounds for a coffee. Clean facility so much so that if you have to go to the bathroom First you have to step over the cleaning staff sitting on the ground looking at cell phones. Still I recommend it for what you pay for.

Staff on reception except one are rubbish. Domestic argument in room a 12 at night they both got kicked out, they cleared my bed by accident with all my stuff, after the first night they moved me because the curtain was broken. Still get 5 stars what do you expect for £14 a night. Don’t listen to genuine moaners there boring.

Crowded rooms, no lift, hot rooms that you can't open the windows enough to cool off. Also the room I stayed in had the smell of burning stuff in it all of the time. I believe we were right beside some restaurants air vent. It actually hurt my throat and sinuses and there's no way to get away from the smell.

Good value for money. Not much of a communal space to do work but there are cafes in the local area for that if needed. Staff (front desk and even the cleaners) were really friendly and helpful. Nice community of travellers when I stayed. There is noise from the street due to location but the rooms were generally quiet and comfortable. Overall, I had a nice experience!

They are right in calling it’s Europe number 1 backpackers. Newly revamped rooms that are clean and regularly cleaned. The showers and toilets are clean. My room came with my own kettle, tea and coffee ☕️. All round a good experience with good discounts on offer at the bar and breakfast 🍳 options. Would definitely come back again if I needed to stay in the area. There is a vending machine and games room should this interest you. My room has a fan and heater should we feel to hot or cold. There are 1 pound shooters should you feel thirsty for an alcoholic beverage.

Emmie was the receptionist cum manager and oh boy was she delightful. Friendly, warm and understanding. Feels like a long lost friend. Had a good sleep in 305 but in the morning you can actually hear the persons in the shower and the water etc. It seems like the wall is quite thin. Breakfast was good, as expected. Overall staff is nice and friendly but I can actually hear the lady bar staff profusely swearing and whinging about everything really which was a little uncomfortable. Other than that, its all good.

The hostel has comfortable beds and curtains, and the location is also nice and busy. However, I was a bit disappointed by this experience. There is no kitchen, no refrigerator to store food, no seating area to eat your food, the breakfast lacked variety and is not worth the money. This is only a place to sleep and that’s about it. It’s hard to meet people because there is no common area except for a small tv room that can only fit about 2 people. They also charge you for storing your luggage after the check out time. The hostel caters more towards the people at the bar than to the guests staying here. It would be cool if they organized more events for the guests such as pub crawls, tours, etc. The Barcelona location is much better so I had higher expectations.

I stayed here a few days ago for 2 nights. If you’re not fussy about staying with others and sharing facilities this place will be a great fit for you. They could improve a bit with the common area/chill-out room. There was a lack of space. Just a small room with one sofa that could only really fit 2 people on. I found myself having to go out more. As there wasn’t space/common area to sit down and eat there. Besides that, The price was a lot better than most hotels/Air BnB's in London. I was able to meet new people the girls in my dorm were really nice. The service was excellent, and the staff are really helpful, especially the one lady at reception Phoebe.

We booked a room (211) with two single beds and got a closet with a bunk bed. It was very very hot in the hostel, the bed was clean and that was the only positive aspect of the room, the mattress was about 1 inch thick. So 5 days of back pain😳, one broken chair (which you cant use) and one almost broken fan (to reduce the heath in de chamber) and one not broken small table ☺️. We used the shared bathroom and toilet, which was very very sober, again the shower was placed in a closet, no room to open doors normally, the washbasin was tiny, i hardly could put one hand under the faucet, so that was hard. During the weekend, belushis is more or less a club, which you can hear untill they close… I slept in quiet al lot hostels in the past, this was by far the most disappointing one. Positive: Located next to the underground Negative aspects: Warm Dirty Old Noisy No normal basic service (toilet/shower) Damp Broken or almost broken furniture

Stayed here with >50 students for one week. Good place! Great breakfast! Staff is friendly and understanding, keen on giving you a good time. Beds sleep wonderful. Guys from security for bar-entrance are great and helpfull. Underground is just around the corner and across the street (4 lines!), so transport through London is easy. Normally you say: "be there"; now I say: "be here".

Simply DISASTER. You think that because it is part of the St Christopher chain it is a good option but it IS NOT at all. First of all, I find myself in a room with a most unbearable and rude lady with complaints from previous guests. I went down to reception about 4 times in the first 3 days and agreed to stay in that room because they told me that he was going to leave due to the policy of a maximum of 7 days of stay. A total DISORGANIZATION, the manager let her stay 2 more days because apparently she had no knowledge about it. HOW BADLY THEY DO THEIR JOB TO NOT BE PENDING AND how much lack of communication between the workers. Luckily I found a very friendly receptionist who helped me with everything. Secondly, half the day with the lady's problem and the other half with the change of room. I went to like 3 different rooms WITHOUT EXAGGERATION because there is an uncontrollable mess and thirdly; There were no towels, etc. This review is not a complaint about someone who made my stay uncomfortable. It's about how the hostel went about fixing this matter. To make it clearer so that the hostal can understand it, the issue here was that their lack of communication made me have to go down to reception repeatedly and their great disorganization made me lose almost an entire day. I have stayed in various hostels, including some from this chain, and believe me, the difference in service is abysmal. I think everyone who reads this can understand the point of this review :)
