Best thing about this place is that it is a better option than Taj Mahal - less crowded, better view, serene and green. Just that it's not that maintained may be because less people visit it and more contribute to the crowd of Taj Mahal. Before going there, make sure to book tickets in advance online. Costs just 20 bucks.

If you want the best photo of the Taj Mahal, DO NOT pay 300 Rp per person to visit Mehtab Bagh Gardens. The gardens are poor quality, and the Taj views are obstructed. Pay just 50 Rp per person to visit the Taj Viewpoint ADA. Taj Viewpoint is on the riverbank diectly in front of Mehtabh Bagh gardens and offers a much better view for a much cheaper price!

Best spot to capture the view of Taj Mahal from the other side of the river. You'd feel like being on the other side of Effel Tower, looking at the structure. Come before sunset so you get to see different colors of Taj Mahal with the reflection of various sunlight. The garden itself is also very parky. Private vehicles are not allowed.

A total waste of time. Not at all recommended. Dry trees and barren lands in the name of garden, not maintained at all. Don't waste your time here. Unnecessary entry fees of 100 rupees at the entrance, then take a 100 rupees auto, and a 25 rupees ticket. Waste of money. If you want to see the view of Taj Mahal, directly visit there. Came here to relax but just got double disappointed.

This park, originally built by Emperor Babur as the last in a series of 11 parks on the Yamuna’s east bank (long before the Taj was conceived), fell into disrepair until it was little more than a huge mound of sand. To protect the Taj from the erosive effects of the sand blown across the river, the park was reconstructed and is now one the best places from which to view the great mausoleum. The gardens in the Taj are perfectly aligned with the ones here, and the view of the Taj from the fountain directly in front of the entrance gate is a classic. It's a popular spot at sunset; the ticket office closes 30 minutes before sunset, so don't leave it too late.

It’s my 3 rd Time to Taj Mahal. Unfortunately the day had to be Friday because of stupid planning of out Tour Agent. (Btw be careful with this. Friday’s are infact closed for Taj Mahal) So the next better thing to do is to go to at-least to a view point. So we went to this. We were asked to park a little further away into a parking space. From there small auto rickshaws (Capacity-5) were available . 50 per ride to reach the Park. Entry price was cheap. The view was gold. Never have i expected there could be more clear view from another angle. While taking picture: Go long and change your camera zoom focus to x3 for better pictures. The park was just Okay. As usual Taj mahal was Gorgeous.

Garden was not maintained, But definitely a good view of Taj Mahal. Nice place for a photoshoot as this place was not that crowded and nice backdrop of Taj Mahal. You’ll have to buy online ticket here. Some small stalls are also there outside the garden to buy cold drinks or packet food.

Nice place to sit, relax and enjoy the beauty of Taj from a distance. This place gives you unhindered view of Taj in its full glory. On other side of Yamuna, one can reach there either by cab, auto or personal vehicle. To find cab for return journey is little difficult. Better to use autos. Eatables not allowed inside the garden.

The Mehtab Bagh garden was the last of eleven Mughal-built gardens along the Yamuna opposite the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort. The garden was built by Emperor Babur (d. 1530).It is also noted that Emperor Shah Jahan had identified a site from the crescent-shaped, grass-covered floodplain across the Yamuna River as an ideal location for viewing the Taj Mahal. It was then created as "a moonlit pleasure garden called Mehtab Bagh." White plaster walkways, airy pavilions, pools and fountains were also created as part of the garden, with fruit trees and narcissus. The garden was designed as an integral part of the Taj Mahal complex in the riverfront terrace pattern. Its width was identical to that of the rest of the Taj Mahal.Legends attributed to the travelogue of the 17th century French traveler Jean Baptiste Tavernier mention Shah Jahan's wish to build a Black Taj Mahal for himself, as a twin to the Taj Mahal; however, this could not be achieved as he was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb. This myth had been further fueled in 1871 by a British archaeologist, A. C. L. Carlleyle, who, while discovering the remnants of an old pond at the site had mistaken it for the foundation of the fabled structure. Thus, Carlleyle became the first researcher to notice structural remains at the site, albeit blackened by moss and lichen. Mehtab Bagh was later owned by Raja Man Singh Kacchawa of Amber, who also owned the land around the Taj Mahal. Frequent floods and villagers extracting building materials nearly ruined the garden. Remaining structures within the garden were in a ruinous state. By the 1990s, the garden's existence was almost forgotten and it had degraded to little more than an enormous mound of sand, covered with wild vegetation and alluvial silt. ✌️🏻❤❤...

Coming from Garden City myself I wasn't impressed at all with the garden. What floored me was that I got my first glimpse of Taj Mahal from here, and it was mind blowing. Got a few good clicks here.

This is ine of best places to visit agra. I personally liked this place because of its beautiful surrounding and because of the view it provides of the Taj Mahal. It lies in the north of the Taj Mahal, on the opposite side of the Yamuna River. If you are with your better half or with your family and want to have a great day and enjoy, this is your place. The best time to visit this place is in the evening.

Very fine place with beautiful greenery and plant. A variety of trees can also be seen. Flowers rich with leaves increases the atmosphere very well. Also the view of TAJ MAHAL was also so pretty. Watching TAJ MAHAL against YAMUNA RIVER creates an awesome mood with a deep mind fresh.

It’s a wonderful location to see the Taj Mahal. But despite having a valid ticket till 6 pm those running the show will throw you out about 40 minutes before so that you have to pay much more another locally run entry point nearby. This is A new racket here. No such restriction used to be placed before.

Almost ruined.. look like Jungle rather than a historical Bagh. But view point from back of Tajmahal is awesome. You can see the so called Black Tajmahal structure here also.

Foundation stones for black taj is laid here. Nice park with great natural plantation. Must vist place to have a great view of taj from the other side of yamuna river. But the only drawback is that some people use this place as a lover point they are just doing something which has to avoided to do in public places, these people just damage the dignity of these monuments. But overall must vist place to have a good view of taj, you can reach here by auto but finding a auto back is pretty much hassle. So you can just take an E-rikshaw which will take you to the parking and then you have to walk straight for approx 10-20 min and you will reach the main road where you can easily find auto.

Recommended Visit if you are in Agra. Mehtab Bagh (also called. 'Moonlight Garden') is a charbagh complex in Agra, North India. It lies north of the Taj Mahal complex and the Agra Fort on the opposite side of the Yamuna River. The garden complex is perfectly aligned with the Taj Mahal on the opposite bank. During the rainy season, the ground becomes partially flooded. Beautiful and less crowded view of Tajmahal and not to miss the Birds all around. Must visit if you are a nature lover. You can even sit back and relax on ground and mesmerize the beauty of TajMahal.

Great views of Tajmahal. The place where a black Taj Mahal would’ve been constructed if Aurangazeb didn’t imprison Shah Jahan. Agra Development Authority has constructed another View point, both have the same views. The parking is little far from the Garden and tickets are available online until 45 mins before sunset. The park is closed after sunset. The area is little shady afterwards. So better plan your logistics beforehand. I luckily got an auto but otherwise it would’ve been riskier.

Best place to enjoy tajmahal view during sunset. The calmness of the gardens & the sounds of birds all around, make the place magical.lots of local birds in the garden.less crowdy. Well maintained garden.we can sit in the garden for long time without any disturbance. Tickets was 25rs per head.no waiting line.Wheelchair accessible entrance is there. The garden is also called moon garden, as tajmahal is best seen during full moon from this garden.

A nice garden which has been restored by ASI. A tourist attraction in Agra, one can get amazing views of Taj Mahal from here (that was the motive behind it's construction). One can buy entry ticket from the ticket counter at the entrance and spend good time walking around in the garden or just looking at the beautiful Taj Mahal.

Bagh is not that amazing but the view of taj is great, on a Saturday evening it was not that crowded so you could have fun with the photos and videos and try out different things. Not sure about other days. Must visit from the other side of taj. The river ans little area is not that clean or beautiful but taj kind of overpower it and you can enjoy the view. It also has adjacent taj view point which also gives you a great view, so it's kind of river then 10 feet of taj view pint gallery and then mehta bagh. I would say a must visit to enjoy taj from other angle.

A beautiful well arranged garden and a great romantic spot to watch and admire the beauty of tajmahal from the banks of yamuna. I went in winters and hence river was all dried up. And there were no flowers. In the season m sure, it would be spectacular. Loads a loads of amla/indian gooseberry trees are here. Ticket is 20₹ and no food is allowed inside. If you carry any food, they will keep it in with them and will return it once you leave the bagh. From the parking area, no car is allowed to go further. It’s 5/10 min walk. Battery rickshaw also works which charges 10₹ per head.

A beautiful garden, where we could have had a black Taj. A wonderful place to view Taj Mahal

  • 4/5 Vasu D. 3 years ago on Google
It's the backside of Tajmahal across the river Yamuna. The garden is vast but not well maintained. Now there's no physical tickets by paying cash here. You have either to book online or scan the QR code at the gate. Shah Jahan wanted to build another black Tajmahal for himself here and started the construction. But by then him son put him in jail and the construction couldn't be continued. Only the ramains of the construction can be found here. From here you can have good view of backside of Tajmahal.

The Moon Gardens! Great views of the Taj Mahal but think the view would be better from the river... although I didn't see any boats available when I visited in February. A tuk-tuk from the Taj was 200 rupees and the entrance fee was 300 rupees. You walk through the a large gardens that are very well manicured but you basically rush up to the wall next to the river to see the Taj Mahal. There is a closer viewpoint and walk way if you walk down the road to the west of Mehtab Bagh towards the river. I didn't love that they had pay toilets after you pay to get in.

The Mehtab Bagh garden was the last of eleven Mughal-built gardens along the Yamuna opposite the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort.[2] It is mentioned that this garden was built by Emperor Babur (d. 1530).[5] It is also noted that Emperor Shah Jahan had identified a site from the crescent-shaped, grass-covered floodplain across the Yamuna River as an ideal location for viewing the Taj Mahal. It was then created as "a moonlit pleasure garden called Mehtab Bagh." White plaster walkways, airy pavilions, pools and fountains were also created as part of the garden, with fruit trees and narcissus.[6] The garden was designed as an integral part of the Taj Mahal complex in the riverfront terrace pattern. Its width was identical to that of the rest of the Taj Mahal.[2] Legends attributed to the travelogue of the 17th century French traveler Jean Baptiste Tavernier mention Shah Jahan's wish to build a Black Taj Mahal for himself, as a twin to the Taj Mahal; however, this could not be achieved as he was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb. This myth had been further fueled in 1871 by a British archaeologist, A. C. L. Carlleyle, who, while discovering the remnants of an old pond at the site had mistaken it for the foundation of the fabled structure.[2] Thus, Carlleyle became the first researcher to notice structural remains at the site, albeit blackened by moss and lichen.[4] Mehtab Bagh was later owned by Raja Man Singh Kacchawa of Amber, who also owned the land around the Taj Mahal[7] Frequent floods and villagers extracting building materials nearly ruined the garden. Remaining structures within the garden were in a ruinous state. By the 1990s, the garden's existence was almost forgotten and it had degraded to little more than an enormous mound of sand, covered with wild vegetation and alluvial silt.[4][8]

The Taj Mahal is always as majestic as ever and to see it from the other bank of the river in the fading sunlight is sublime. It was exhilarating for all of us and we saw it till the golden winter sunlight shone on it.

The view of taj from here is surreal..The fruits and flower orchards add a different aura to the atmosphere. It's great for pictures, workout, or even a picnic.. Entry ticket is digital now. Washrooms are available. There are two shacks outside the gate serving great paranthas and packaged food.

One of the most fascinating place to visit. One thing is sure that you can't count the beauty of TaJ Mahal from inside however if you will have a view of TAJ from Mehtab bagh, your eyes gonna see some magic for sure.. what a beautiful monument it is might be the only words coming out of ones mouth or whatever 🤪. The entry ticket is only 15₹ which is a reasonable amount however i can assure you one thing that you gonna bless me and not gonna regret once you will look the beauty of TAJ from this bagh.. cheers!!

Besides the only qualification that its at the opposite side of Taj to look at morning and evening, there is nothing at this place to yern for. Travel tip: go with your own or hired vehicle. Else, no facility to come back. Ola - uber drivers will cancel your bookings.

I'd like to give it 3 stars because it was extremely hot in the February afternoon. it being a bagh must have greenery and grass which was not maintained at all. but the view of the Taj mahal from the Bagh is extremely amazing. I wish I visited during the sundowner for a better weather.

  • 1/5 Anandraj M. 2 years ago on Google
Nothing worthwhile to be honest. Just a garden and same view of taj mahal. Also the ticket is Rs 20 and parking for car is 100. Its best to avoid

  • 5/5 Abhinav C. 2 years ago on Google
Views are really good of the Tajmahal, and you can spend some time in Greenery. Although I would say that ticketing system is quite confusing nowadays after COVID and also network issue is there. I would recommend to buy the ticket in advance and face no trouble. It closes at Sunset . You can be plan to visit Itmad-ud-Daula and this in a go as they are on the same side of the city.

Neat place to get a glimpse of the Taj Mahal before your visit. Very peaceful. There would probably be more flowers if it wasn't so dry.

  • 3/5 KIRAN 1 year ago on Google
You get a very nice complete view of the Taj. Very few people go there but it is a must visit place. Not very crowded and you get a great view of the monument... Only suggestion to the authorities that they should create some space where visitors can take photos of their vehicles in the background of the Taj. Now you need to go inside a 500mt stretch where you can't take a 4 wheeler.

Don't go there. Its a waste of time. Visit only if the weather allows or pleasant! Garden isn't even maintained properly. The only crowd is for taj mahal view and photography!
