This place is a beautiful park. Specially famous among locals for morning and evening walk. After it's recent renovation, it has become more beautiful and clean. The place is full of tall trees and beautiful small plants. You can visit here for playing sports, running or just spending time in arms of nature. It is suitable for children as well because it has a skating ground. Suggested to visit early morning or evening.

नाना राव पार्क / कम्पनी बाग़, कानपुर ) is a public city park in Kanpur, the industrial hub of Uttar Pradesh, India, built after Indian independence in honor of Nana Sahib. Prior to Indian Independence the location was known as Memorial Well and commemorated the massacre of British women and children during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.......

The memorial well is there but there is no mention of the grim history of this place anywhere. As we had to pass time for an hour so we decided to visit Nana Rao Park. life line of the city, breathing space left in ever densing city, let it be green, forest, not another jungle of bricks &concrete, it will all creat more temprature in long summers of the city. More of water bodies needed, seems few are planned, open jim is a good idea but still not adequate to the rush, thanks to the admistration for taking anitiative to save a breathing space in dense & polluted place. We had a good time to enjoy green part of park. very well maintained. It reminds us of old times when Nana rao peshwa, fought battle for freedom and lead kanpur.

Good park located in the city. It also has some historical significance. The park is very big, has lots of area. There are many cycling tracks and running tracks. Many benches are also there. There are badminton courts also. At many places they have made a platform and installed idols of freedom fighters. It has many trees and coming here feels refreshing. In the morning and evening times huge crowd can be seen of people jogging, walking, doing yoga and exercises.

A nice park for a jog, run or a simple walk. It's main feature is its sufficient area filled with trees. New plants such as daffodils are being transplanted under the renovation project which started 3 years ago and is extremely slow. The park has a dedicated running circuit for people who wanna run, a cycle track for cyclists and lots of normal asphalt roads on which a lot of people walk. There are also a lot of statues of freedom fighters to decorate the park and enhance its historical significance. Its swimming pool is in a very bad shape and we can't assume when it'll get repaired. All in all its one of the few good parks in Kanpur. I'm looking forward to it's further development. (If you play Badminton then try visit the park in the morning, there are a lot of badminton players playing in their self made mud courts)

Good park. Have adequate parking facility, which I think is free on Sundays and holidays. Entry ticket is Rs. 10. Park is a lot maintained now, with greeneries, walking lanes, sitting place and all. Earlier there used to be safety issues. But now there are guards and miscreants can't be seen normally. Also, they are building a new portion with statues, which is in progress now, and I believe will be completed very soon. All in all a good park to spend time alone as well family or friends.

The park is of immense historical significance as the location of the massacre of around 200 British women and children, allegedly[1] on the instigation of a courtesan in Nana Sahib's court, followed by the punitive actions by British soldiers of the East India Company during the 1857 Indian rebellion. Memorial Well (1858 to 1947) Edit The memorial. Albumen silver print by Samuel Bourne, 1860. The location was originally called Memorial Well after the memorial was raised to commemorate the dead. The memorial had a large railing, a marble gothic screen with "mournful seraph" and a cross at the site of the well. The inhabitants of Cawnpore were forced to pay £30,000 for the creation of the memorial; this was partially their punishment for not coming to the aid of the women and children.[2] Post Indian independence in 1947 Edit After Indian independence in 1947 the memorial was demolished. A park was built in its place with statues of leaders of the Indian freedom struggle, and named in honor of Nana Sahib for his role in the Indian freedom struggle. The marble gothic screen was transferred to the churchyard of the All Souls Memorial Church. The remains of a circular ridge of the well can still be seen in the park today. Nana Rao Park today Edit A view across the park to the memorial. Samuel Bourne, 1860. The park is located in the central area of Kanpur District and is close to Phool Bagh, LIC Building. The park is well maintained and is popular with many fitness groups. Presently, the park is one of the favorite Kanpur parks frequented by early morning and evening visitors. For many people in Kanpur, the park serves as an outdoor location for the start of the day. This includes brisk walking, jogging, swimming, badminton and yoga. The park currently is under the charge of Kanpur Municipal Corporation and is well maintained. There is a public swimming pool. A plant nursery is located inside the park. It has a number of beautiful plants. The park has a lot of greenery. Nana Rao Park is a favorite resting place for many types of local birds and bats. The park is replete with statues of eminent people who played a part in the Indian independence struggle. The statues include those of Rani Lakshmi Bai, Lala Lajpat Rai, Ajizan Bai & Tatya Tope who is believed to have played a part in the massacre. Boodhha Bargad, (Hindi: बूढ़ा बरगद, कानपुर ) an old banyan tree, with great historical significance to Indian Independence struggle, is located in the park ground. There is a traditional vyayamshala inside the park References Edit Anand Swarup Misra, 'Nana Sahab Peshwa And The Fight For Freedom', Information Department, Uttar Pradesh, 1961. "Angel of Cawnpore". It's a very old historical Park since British Era, it was meeting point of freedom fighters and lots of freedom fighters were hanged on it Old Banyan Tree know as Budha Bargad by Britishers, Now a days for Kanpurites this park is heaven for morning/evening walkers, greenery is way beyond expectations and specially one must eat Pahalwan Bread and Mattha on it gate.
