It seems to be slowly building back up the staff are always plesent it has to be said from the cleaners to the security and any give shop seem which in turn make it a good shopping experience over all Yes the place does lack the shops and the empty units are off putting but I do see some steady improvement this past year considering Covid too. One thing I must say I have never understood about Freshney Place is late night shopping Thursday nights? :S maybe am missing something but wouldn't a Friday/Saturday make more sense with it being when parent dont have to be up for school runs the next day And pay day and many peoples pay day Personally I would love to see them add some more Greener back to this place much like how it was in its early 90s hayday ok maybe we can't bring the fountains and the classic shops we all loved but plants add more ambiance in turn a place where people like to be not the cure to FP problems but something that could be done over time and on a budget would be happy then give it a 4/5 ⭐

Very huge place. Very polite and helpful staff. Easy to navigate around. Information centre is very helpful and useful. Stores have good discounts. Has free Wi-Fi connectivity. Has multiple entrances and exits. Toilets are very hygienic and clean.

Whilst Grimsby isn’t the Mecca of shopping destinations, there are actually a decent amount of shops here, including M&S and T K Maxx, along with a Waterstones which surprised me. Got what I needed here so all good.

Great shopping centre with loads of shops and parking is good too. The parking exit is terrible though for bigger cars. We nearly scraped our car on the bollard by the exit.

Nice little shopping centre, plenty of shops and it’s usually not overly busy either - nice wide corridors and plenty of parking which isn’t priced to bad either! Few interesting people kicking around sometimes but overall been a good place to pop for some decent shops!

I am disabled & am sick to death of there being NO seats/beaches to sit down on for a rest. It is bad enough most of the shops won't let a person, esp disabled or elderly, have a seat. One of the shops I love to visit is Primary, but NO seats. I hate shopping now!!!

The number of shops here is slowly dwindling over the years and this place really needs a new spark of life, however what shops we do have is ok.The Prikark and New look stand out as tye best shops here. The choice of food is quite nice.

Toilet: Ground Floor near to Costa another in Third floor from the first entrance. Coffee: Starbucks on one end, Costa on the other end. Opp to train station. When you take a first route from the station is a first entrance. And it has a whole Fresh Vegetables supermarket in it. And you can find some snacks like chicken bites around. Market includes Mini Garments shop, Laptop repairing shop, Whole sale eggs, breakfast eateriesand it's Mostly, owned by locals. If you are an outer. Don't expect too much from this rural owned mall. Probably, limited on selections and availability of the products. Well maintained in hygiene. P. S: one part of the mall is going to be renovated to have new cinema theatres.

So sad to see this place slowly dying. As a child I could come and spend a full day here with friends visiting shops, having lunch and walking around the area but now there is just nothing of interest. Most main shops have closed down leaving a very bizarre mix of places. I only ever really come here to visit TK Maxx now but the off chance I've popped into another store, all the staff seem desperate for sales and it's sad to hear their stories about potentially closing down.

Quite a busy shopping centre with many high street shops available indoor. However, the space in the car park is quite narrow.

How these people make a living I just don't know.... they must try hard but things the way they are.... I don't see a future for the market , what a shame.... but it's the government, landlords and Internet that have done this... no markets like there were in the 70s and 80s... bring them back......

Not as good as use to be. Lost Woolworths, House of Fraser & WH Smith plus others. Still some boarded up. NE Lincolnshire Council are hoping to buy it & do the up! Very hot in the Mall area because of glass roof

It's sad to see something on the verge of collapse but I think that's just what I saw. There's a lot of closed shops and the place is looking dated. Such a shame, I remember when the place opened, it's not even a shadow any longer

It’s lost so much of its buzz! In the late 90s this place was packed with shoppers and a late night on a Thursday it rivalled Meadowhall and was the best shopping centre in this area Once a shopping centre of choice it uses to have some good brand shops, however, since the closure of WHSmiths the centre slowly went downhill. The centre has a feel that its owners don’t care, dreadful flooring, leaking roof, buckets all over the floors when it rains. No major chain stores or even major food restaurants. Toilets are pokey, parking should be free IMO if they want to attract customers in. The new owners need to reduce the rents and pull back in brand names with attractive least terms fixed for period of years H&M needed McDonald’s KFC Pizza Hut all need bringing into here to create foot fall It could be brilliant but do locals want it anymore ?

Definitely not a place you would go to shop, there's so few shops left now, very run down with a lot of anti social behavior, feel sorry for the security, because they appear to have little to no power to deal with it. Shame really, because in it's day, it was the place to enjoy your social time.

As the car parking spaces in Freshney Place are narrow, I chose not to park there, resulting in walking past good little consumers drinking alcohol outside the minster. Saw empty units on Victoria Street, where even charity shops have closed down. Observed a young lad, old enough to be a man, hanging around outside the bakers, asking people to buy him a bacon butty and coffee, instead of climbing a rooftop to be rewarded with his favourite munchies. The town centre wasn't at all busy, which is good until there are no witnesses when you get mugged. An almost unbelievable amount of empty units inside Freshney Place; had a municipal feel about it- is it under new ownership?

Its always nice to have an indoor shopping center. This is very poor. The place is deserted and many shops have gone. From last time there the coffee shop that was near the parking has gone. Therefore really not much in there. My guess Council or the person who takes rents are asking far too much.

You have almost everything under the same roof. There's Next, Primark, Deichmann and a host of other less know brands. And it wasn't even crowded. There is also a multilevel cheap parking on site. Great place to shop.

Poor selection of shops, a lot of empty spaces and overall a dying shopping centre. Starbucks is the recent victim but this might be to do with the supposed cinema that’s being built. Back in the day was very busy and had a lot more variety. It’s now just a shadow of its former self - a bit like Grimsby overall. The carpark is decently priced.

As you first walk ( or at least entrance I used ) the shops are all shut. It's not until you walk further down you see more shops open( and more people) Good selection of shops, nice toilets. Witnessed shoplifting infront of me . Didn't feel the safest .

I hired a mobility scooter from the centre this morning , for the first time . Worked an absolute treat , will certainly do it again. The fact that they bring the scooter to the car park for you is spot on , it is very good value . The young lady who dealt with me ( I'm sorry , I cannot remember her name ) was lovely , so efficient, friendly and pleasant . I'd give her a gold star.... thank you .

Parts of Freshney Place was packed today. Loads of people not adhering to social distancing or following the marks on the floor indicating which way you should be going. I only went into town because I had to, wished I'd not had to be in town today. I was glad to be out of there.

  • 4/5 Jamie W. 3 years ago on Google
Lots of shops. Stuff like primary, tk max, cex, hmv etc. Cause of covid some places have closed but it is what it is. Its not as grand as meadow Hall or fancy as Oxford Street but it's easily accessible and it does is its job. Only reason this isn't a 5 star is cause all the chavs and 'roadmen' in the streets surrounding it. They're quite intimidating to say the least but they're not to much bother, (most of the time)

This is a lovely okay place to shop. Has most shops. I'd say all shops are reasonably priced and have a great variety. It has toilets and lots of benches around for you to sit. Always has a nice display on and it changes every couple of weeks.

I loved shopping in freshey place but it is no longer interesting enough for shoppers. I do think it would be a good idea to share shops and get a mixture of items lots of variety of bispoke gifts people will buy as they love that kind of thing including clothing we are always looking for that special gift or treat and people would rather buy from high street as it’s instant . Just a bit of intervention is needed .

Lovely light, airy shopping centre. Lots of space. Some fantastic shops.we called twice during our visit to Grimsby I still don't think we saw it all. On the down side there are a lot of empty units. I'm sure this will change when the restrictions are lifted. Set close to the marina lots of bars and restaurants. Definitely recommend the Barge Inn. Located on the river quirky little bar lol my pint slid across the table great staff and food (we didn't eat there just going by what the other customers said)

I was out here trying to do some shopping and a bunch of little roadman wannabes wheelieing and nearly hitting OAPs who are just chilling. Also these little people just kept getting in the way and being so loud I just wanted to stamp on their pea heads. Only good thing was that I got to boot a pigeon finally I've been trying for years and those little shots just got off all the time but I finally got one.

Freshney Place Shopping Centre has all the facilities, and variety of shops, that you would expect from a good shopping centre. It is also conveniently connected to the other main shopping centre, that runs alongside of it. It also has the area public bus and taxi pickup centre conveniently placed by both.

Like most Malls these days it has quite a few closed shops, but great to see a decent M & S. Clean & well looked after it's quite popular on a rainy Sunday. I was particularly pleased to see one thoroughfare called Baxtergate, as Baxter's my maiden name! I wonder who their Baxter was?

  • 4/5 Annie 2 years ago on Google
A good shopping centre with some lovely Christmas lights. Only a few shops closed. Choice of your regular town high street shops. Great for us that live in the sticks. Only negative, which is to do with the people shopping in the centre, was that a fair number of the general public didn't wear masks and of those that did a fair few either had their noses out or wore them as a chin warmer!

  • 3/5 Simone W. 2 years ago on Google
A 3 star review is generous at best. This a place businesses go to die. Full of empty units and what is open is uninspiring and clinging on. If you go on a wet day take a brolly, you'll need it. The shopping centre has more holes than the average colander. It is such a shame as this once was a fantastic thriving shopping destination and could be again. It is in dire need of some retail CPR to bring the place back to life. It's a place you go when you know exactly what you want because a casual "mooch" around the shops is off the cards when you go there.

  • 4/5 Stan F. 2 years ago on Google
It's a great place to shop, out of the cold, sit have a coffee a rest then shop again, only problem the local council, with high rates etc you will find most shops closing so the council can allow big companies to take over and small shops have to close.

  • 2/5 Robert M. 1 year ago on Google
Shadow of its former self. At least it wasn't raining so you have to didgeridoo the buckets catching the leaks. Too many empty stores, same as Victoria Street. Few decent shops remaining

  • 4/5 Stephen 2 years ago on Google
I visited Sunday 27th March and was amazed that 95% of shops were closed. Overall the shopping centre was clean and seemed huge with a large variety of shops, though mostly closed. The car park is a nightmare in that it's designed for midget cars...parking spaces are very narrow and driving to another floor difficult because of limited space and tight turning space. On the plus side it's very good value and there's free 7kw EV chargers, IF there's one available and you can actually fit your car in a ridiculously tiny space

  • 4/5 Kitija R. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing selection, I mean shops EVERYWHERE. Good rides for little ones around as well. Can be dirty at times, and if it's your first time, toilets can be hard to find and smelly at times.

  • 2/5 Elaine W. 1 year ago on Google
Unfortunately high rates have forced many retailers out of buisness. Its a shadow of its former self and if you spent more than 2 hours there it would be because you are eating, otherwise zero real interest, which is very sad. Huge potential.

  • 3/5 Alan W. 1 year ago on Google

Very clean, but dead!!! There are very few shops worth visiting here now and it's a real shame. Something needs to be done to attract new businesses and retailers to the shopping centre to make it worth the visit. It's a pale shadow of what it was before Corona!

Went to a specific shop T K Max,Freshney does look better but still needs more big brand shops needs some decent licensed restraurants instead of just having cake coffee shops would be good if it was open till 11 and was monitored just think of the money/profit making potential a place to go out to for a whole night in safety

Really nice place to shop, the sunlight streaming in from the glass roof gives it a warm pleasant feel. Plenty of shops to suit all tastes dotted around the centre, all on one floor. A car park and toilets, with plenty of seating areas. Some nice places to grab a bite to eat, spacious costa coffee in the centre. Clean fresh and bright.

Spent hours here still some decent shops and cafes left. Couple of things not happy with ,car park is very tight if you have a large car it is hard work and the number of teenagers hanging about ,seems to be a lack of security.

Absolutely shocking place. Feeling generous giving two stars - all because M&S Food is still there.

It's one of those shopping centres you walk into and feel surprised that it's sti around. While it's nice, clean and full of stores at the front, some of the decor is a bit on the dated side and as you venture further into there, there's suddenly more and more closed off areas and shuttered shops. I still enjoy going here but it's clear some parts need a bit of TLC.

Not a bad little shopping centre for the size of the town it services. Got a lot of the big high street names and easy access to the rest of the town centre. The parking is a bit tight and signage could be better.

Once you have been in one shop you have pretty much seen it all ,no variation or different goods .Lots of shop vacancies, shops open for some months then disappear. Market same with about 50 percent stalls empty . Not very inspiring needs new plan/update.

A handful of decent shops, the rest are of no use to me. I only go into town once a week. If M&S went, I would not bother. Why do we need a cinema, with down and out and drug users hanging around late at night. Not very well thought out by the council.

Loved it! Been there for the first time and I was on a rush. Just visited TK Maxx and Poundland, but I promise I ll be back soon. So many shops to visit: Primark, TK Maxx (at least 2 hours to see everything), big food court, phone accessories shops, bio supplements, Marks & Spencer, pharmacy, etc. Worths visiting!!

There aren't really that many decent shops anymore. There's Primark, Quiz and Poundland however whatever shops there have very overpriced items. It's not a particularly safe place and there's graffiti and rubbish everywhere.

Some shops left. It needs something to generate footfall before more leave. I wonder why shopping centres don't have doctors and dentists in them. They have space with the shrinking high street and already have busses and parking.

Under going major changes and reconstructions. Lots of empty spaces. Best experiences M&S cafe good service. TKMax lots of good items and gifts. Primark good service. There's not many sales in stores just now so overall probably best wait until construction work and empty stores full again. 🙄

There are some empty shops but is worth a visit. Some redevelopment has been started to make it more attractive. Handy for buses to most places and parking is good

If there was more shops open i would of given this place a 5 star . Like everywhere else internet shopping is killing off the community shopping centres , also social community spirit .They say this is progress. I disagree. 2hat do you say ?

Although a lot of the stores are now gone what is left are places where the staff are very helpful and pleasant. The market area stalls and staff are so obliging. An altogether enjoyable visit.
