Unfortunately, this shopping centre, like many others, is suffering from empty units. Barnsley Council have allowed the building of the Glass Works shopping centre next door and now need to come up with some innovative ideas to get businesses into both of them. The immediate area around both centres has been nicely paved with lovely seating areas, but walk a couple of streets back and the whole place feels unkempt and in need of street cleaning and shop front refurbishments.

Sorry to say this, I'm from Barnsley originally. Lived and worked there for many years. I visited recently, I guess like many shopping centres there is a decline. Large shops empty, other premises filled with bargain shops. It's a shame really. It was clean internally. I went in via the Alhambra roundabout side, that was another story. There was a very strong smell of cannabis outside the doors the grounds around were full of litter, it wasn't very inviting. It's still a main entrance to the centre. This is why I gave it three.

Went into town first time in 3 years and had a meal in the indoor cafe. It was a wonderful experience. I have lived here all my life but the new town centre is a real eye-opening experience. The only thing that spoiled my day out was the sight of drug users staggering around. It's becoming a real problem and needs addressing urgently.

Outstanding service, extremely knowledgeable and went over and above in service. Can't say enough nice things about Florence Crypto Fx and her platform! Florence has an amazing reputation in her field because of her no nonsense attitude, her work ethic and core values. We recently worked with her on helping us invest in her platform. Although Mrs. Anita. She's know for good recommendation, she took our investment higher under her wing and found her the perfect place that was in her good range. It was a very good investment the platform was very helpful and every day profits to look at. They made our investment feel very comfortable and wonderful everyday. From the start to finish the process went smoothly and effortlessly. perfect work she did i really enjoyed the process because of the hard work of the team. Highly recommend Mrs.

Some guy shouting religious propaganda outside. Security actively helped him by hitting and assaulting ongoing bystanders. Would go again

The information desk lady was very helpful, we've never been before , she even did some photo copying for me. The security guard on ground main doors was also extremely helpful directing us to The Works.

It was a while ago when I was at this place and I knew everything about it. Years gone by and when I visited this place again I was completely lost because of the massive complex all Town centre shops station market place I mean everything changed in great quality and secure pleasure for people to live and enjoy, there are no more hiding places in the town centre as it used to be. Will come back with kids next week to do shopping.

Great, fab shopping centre.. Plenty of parking layout really good has lifts etc. Could do with another set of toileting facilities as this being the only problem, otherwise great shopping centre 🤗

Alhambra shopping centre is the main town centre in Barnsley Central. The building consists of all needs and offices, joined by malls, banks, market square etc. for the cosmopolitan/Metropolitan city centre. With expectations for growth and more development, this town has facilities and infrastructure for some hundreds of thousands of people and offers a country side lifestyle and beautiful inhabitants/people from various walks of life.

Good diversity of shops and a comfortable place to sit down to partake in refreshments if the fancy takes you. Also a nice place to browse for anything you feel the need to buy, they even provide sitting benches if you only want to sit and people watch. The toilets are clean and well appointed, all in all, a pleasant experience to be recommended.

Because of how much Barnsley has changed over the years (not for the better), I don't visit there very often. When I do go, the Alhambra centre is one of the places I will. Generally, clean, tidy, and welcoming, but mainly for the feeling of security.

1 entrance in signposted well for foot traffic. The entrance under subway needs better signposting. No signs outside to say in or out. I ended up walking towards someone that was exiting. Social distance is well managed at main entrance but not at the less busy entrance

  • 3/5 Rob M. 4 years ago on Google
Lots of stalls but not a great range of choice, only two fishmonger etc. It was bustling though so that was good. And it has the excellent Price's veg and fruit stall.

No issues at all. Friendly staff, clean toilets. Good social distancing measures in place. Free parking on Sunday's too which is good

This is an excellent shopping centre. However, very quiet at the moment due to current circumstances and many shops are closed.

Good shopping experience. In and out of the centre is controlled. You are required to wear a face mask. Shops are also controlled with hand sanitiser at the entrances. A good Christmas atmosphere today too.

It's a small Mall but has some good shops inside, Primark, TK Max, Next and other well known stores. When it is in full service and not lockdown there are a couple of really good cafes that serve excellent coffees and food. The car park is attached so no need to be in the bad weather. The main doors lead out straight onto the main shopping area of the town. Well worth a visit.

Very Bad Experience with Fat Harry (One of the security Guards). My girlfriend aged 76 and myself aged 71 were threated and my car was damaged by Fat Harry. Just because I did not stop my car as there was a jam up in the car park. Fat Harry punched my car denting the bonnet. As for the shops, brilliant, but Fat Harry has to go. Or do a course in anger management.

Barnsley Alhambra Shopping Centre, always has been a favourite of mine just for the ease and convenience of indoor shopping especially when it's raining. Never have I had a problem purchasing whatever it is I have gone in for.

Refreshingly different shopping experience, good mixture of shops. Primark and Savers in the same building. Toy store just as you exit the car park is handy if you have to carry heavy toys.

It's taken a hit since the overall development of the main town centre buy I never really shopped there previously. The only stores I can say I have popped my head in would have been T k max or primark. Or at least I think that was the shops both on small scale. My purpose this time was to visit the alterations services to get some jeans etc shortened. Not yet picked up at time of review, quite costly at nearly £9 a pair to shorten no discount ie for more than one pair. There's a strawberry and marshmallow stall that serve them with hot chocolate that I like to buy unfortunately the staff had nipped away for 5 mins so missed out this time so opted for hot chestnuts outside the Alhambra. The Alhambra has always felt a little insignificant compared to places like meadowhall but that said if your in town anyway and one of the shops there can meet your needs it's a more relaxed environment than meadowhall Hall that's for sure. I think the town plan redevelopment of the Alhambra inline with the new glassworks etc so will see what happens.

Barnsley has improved so much, the market is fantastic and the new food hall upstairs Is great, way better than Sheffield for a day shopping.

  • 3/5 John W. 2 years ago on Google
It's the older side of the glassworks it's the first port of call for a lot of people arriving by car in some respects I think it's better than the new side. Needs more seating

A somewhat busy shopping mall plenty of retail outlets supermarket and a few cafés not bad

  • 1/5 Gregor L. 2 years ago on Google
Just another shopping centre. Does the job for people of Barnsley to get addicted to shopping for unnecessary things since there aren't any more engaging attractions or things to do (apart from getting pished) in this city. Glad I'm only here temporarily but most people are gonna 'live' like this forever

  • 5/5 Alison P. 1 year ago on Google
Always a busy shopping area, clean & well looked after. Ideal for parking, toilets & straight into town centre

  • 2/5 Charlotte W. 1 year ago on Google
Not much going on other than primark and Wilkinsons. The shops seem to be shutting and moving to the new glass house/open market area.

  • 3/5 Jack B. 2 years ago on Google
It's a shopping centre that serves a purpose but feels unloved. Most major retailers have now moved to the Glass Works next door, perhaps a facelift and tie in with the Glass Works might afford it a 2nd life. The car park and public convienances in here are good.

We went to the Glasshouse actually but went into the market place for lunch - it was a late lunch and was surprised most of the eateries stop serving at 3pm. 😱 the + was the carpark charges of £2 for first 3 hrs then 50p per 30mins there after

The most popular shopping mall in the centre of Barnsley, full of shops, cafeterias and stalls. Didn't find what you're looking for inside? Walk through the mall to the pedestrian shopping centre of Barnsley.

The Alambra shopping centre in Barnsley Sth Yorkshire, is close to both rail and bus stations. The center has been undergoing redevelopement over last few years and as an ex Barnsley girl i was plesantly surprised by it on my recent visit

I love what they've done to Barnsley Town centre. They've given it a real town feel. The Alhambra centre is always bustling and compliments the new areas of the town. I particularly like the local free magazine available by the doors to the shopping centre. It's also kept very clean

  • 1/5 Nadim S. 9 months ago on Google
Very sad looking and very out of date shopping centre. Out of touch with bigger and more modern shopping malls. Needs knocking down and rebuilt as an extension to the more modern and appealing Glassworks next door. Come on Barnsley council, let's start adding to what you have already started to create.

  • 5/5 Dave G. 1 year ago on Google

People in Barnsley never seize to amaze me with their friendliness so the public and staff alike are welcoming here. The shop selection is really good too. All in all a decent shopping trip and the town itself is worth a look around too. Especially in the Christmas months.

It’s such a shame to see so many empty units in what was once a pretty busy and vibrant shopping centre - but the few stores that remain open are still worth a visit! There are a couple of cafes that serve good drinks and food should you want a bite to eat, and shops such as Primark and CEX for you to spend some time in before heading out and seeing the rest of the shops in Barnsley town centre.

  • 5/5 Adebayo M. 5 months ago on Google
The entrance deceptively makes you think it's a small shopping mall but step inside and you'll be amazed at how spacious it is on the inside abd the variety of the business inside makes it a one stop mall.. Elevators and escalators available to make climbing easier, you can't help but be surprised by the sheer beauty of the place on the inside.
