For a City shopping centre I've never seen so many units closed which is a shame. Id rather travel to the Trafford Centre where there's more choice plus free parking! Come on Stoke-on-Trent City Council pull your finger out!

Awesome place to shop and a day out … Primark is really good , best part there is a mall wherein you get to escape the cold as well …. there is a Local market in the basement wherein you can shop for locally made items … and across the street there are other various options known as The Market… there are some cool cafes as well wherein you can eat and enjoy some good time especially The Esquire Cafe is a must visit for a good cup of coffee / tea ….

This was my first visit to The Potteries Shopping Centre and Stoke-On-Trent city and to be totally honest I expected a lot better. Firstly, I found Stoke-On-Trent to be a bit shabby and neglected looking, the local county council have really let it down. As for the Potteries Shopping Centre, parking was good and easy, walking around the shops was easy too as not too busy. The centre has some good stores and a great size Primark! I quite liked the Market on the ground floor too. But compared to many shopping centres I have visited in the UK this one looked a bit dated with too many closed stores. The streets outside the shopping centre also looked very dated and scruffy. With Stoke-On-Trent being popular with a well known male pop star I did expect to see a tidy, modern, and attractive looking city but unfortunately it was the complete opposite. Not a city I will return to I don't think.

Unfortunately not a lot of brands are left here. Car park payment is confusing, I paid at the machine when leaving, but when I drove up to the exit barrier in my car, the barrier stayed down and told me to pay before exiting! Tried to pay again at the barrier but wouldn't accept payment! Luckily there was nobody waiting behind me, as I had to reverse back into a parking space and head back to the payment machine. There were a few people at the payment machine who weren't sure if they had paid or not. In the end I tried a different machine and successfully escaped from the multistorey car park, a very frustrating system!!

Quite disappointing. So many empty shops. Surrounded by what looks like a dying area. Dirty. Lots of homeless. Such a shame as I expect it may have been ok in the past. Best thing was the statue of Sir Stanley Matthews.

Never any real footfall, many of the units in the centre stand empty and there’s no hope of them ever being filled as they’ve either shut for good or decamped to nearby retail parks. A shopping centre which, while kept neat and tidy, is totally dead in the water and bringing down the surrounding area, looming over it in a classically 80s monolith style. It wasn’t always like this - 5-6 years ago, The Potteries Centre - then called intu Potteries - was compact, yet lively and full, and had enough to keep you entertained for a good hour or so. It takes a lot for me to say something like this, but honestly: this shopping centre is no longer fit for purpose and needs to be knocked down - extensive redevelopment of Stoke city centre is probably the only way it’ll ever have any hope of getting back on its feet. Simply not worth visiting - anyone living in Stoke, I recommend you pop over to Manchester Arndale instead.

From what I experienced it has a good range of shops. Some of the levels are a bit odd but they have a good number of lifts and once you workout how to get to the shop you want there is an easy accessible route

Unfortunately a once thriving shopping experience has long gone. What's left is a shadow of its former self. The council need to focus on reviving Hanley's heart instead of plunging millions into useless car parks.

Inner city shopping centre, sadly like many others closed shops are evident. If you need a shop contained within its worth a visit. It's not the centres fault it's the times we live in. Let's hope things improve for the city centre.

Great range of shops. Feels safe. Enjoyed shopping at O2, WH Smith/post office, HMV, Superdrug and coffee at Starbucks. The market looks decent but it was a bit late in the day.

Place is rapidly declining unfortunately. It used to be absolutely fantastic with every shop open and full. Downstairs market full to the rafters and not a single store closed. Unfortunately it is now in rapid decline and something needs doing to bring this place back into its former glory. The place inside is actually bright and welcoming and clean. Shops open are good but also can be found in most places so nothing to make the place stand out. Toilets clean and fresh as always. Working lifts for disabled and, small children and elderly so they don't have to use escalators and stairs. Nice child play area set up. 👌 Please.. we need to fill these empty shop spaces and not just with seasonal stores that come and go. This place should be bustling with life and a range of activity. Also to note.. be careful outside as some of the bricks are slightly uneven and I have seen several accidents happen on the steps going to the market outside from elderly during winter. The steps are quite steep and get very very slippy even when wet let alone with ice about! Access to the market can be done usually by lift or escalators indoors to avoid steps if needed which is disabled access main door also.

It is okay if you happen to be in the area and need to shop, few of the areas are empty but a lot of retail shops are closing down, not a lot of choice mostly clothes shops and a few other bits and bobs, the car park is not too badly priced but if free would bring more shoppers! Not really a food court either so that was disappointing.

  • 1/5 Adriana E. 1 year ago on Google
Is a waste of time!!! They could bring some good clothing store as Zara, Stradivarius, Berska, P&B!! I am sure they will make lots of money because they will save time for people who goes to Manchester or Liverpool for this shops!! The owner should learn more management and think about it!!!

Very bizarre and surreal experience. Many shops closed down, market closed down - and the shops that were open didn’t have much to offer. Partnered with a maze like interior that feels both endless and lifeless, don’t think I’ll be returning any time soon - if at all.

It was sad to see many stores/ shops closed. But the shopping centre is good for Primark (although under stocked), Star Bucks & H&M to name a few. On this occasion, I went to have my shoes repaired. The service I received was great.

Parking... Expensive for a showing day out and confusing to get to the shops AND pay machine does not give confirmation of payment. Lots of shops. But none had the things I'd seen online that I needed. Had a generally dull feeling. Sorry. And only one set of toilets for such a large place means you better plan well lol. Glad to see it was not all empty like many shopping malls now. But wouldn't go out of my way to visit this particular one.

Appox 10-15% of people in here are not wearing face masks, despite the new rules. Shops tell me it's not their job to challenge, security tell me the same, even the PCSOs on duty outside tell me they can't challenge anyone as they have no authority to fine them. It's not a problem though, I'll spend my money at Amazon instead. When you can sort this out, and have the well-being of the DECENT member of public in mind, I may return. I wont even use your online shops. Until then, stuff the high street, as this is clearly the attitude you have to the decent people in this city.

Not a lot to it, but it is however cleaner and more pleasant than its surroundings. The market cafe was almost empty, yet we still queued for 20 minutes. After watching some of the hygiene practices, we declined to eat. Easy to navigate, relatively small, nothing to write home about. Travel the extra 45 minutes and visit Derby or maybe Nottingham.

Visited during the week . Had looked at the shop directory before going.Found a parking space easily. Were lost on arrival but a very helpful guy in a purple fleece ( He worked for the Potteries) gave us fantastic directions. The information touch screen didn't help us. Good cup of tea and traybake in the Coffee House completed our visit.

Dreadful place to shop, most of the major retailers have shut down. Compared to other city centres this one is horrendous. In fact, the whole experience of shopping in Hanley is terrible. I never feel safe, even when shopping with others. The local council need to do something to attract shoppers before other retailers start to move their business elsewhere.

It used to be great, loads of shops and you could spend hours in there but now it takes u about half hour to look around as it half empty and they can not get any big retailers to come in. Definitely missing Next, Clarks and Superdry. Wish they get some big retailers to come in because I would go more but instead I go out of the city to go shopping

Had a great experience, went to the Hive to cineworld watch Jurassic Park World ....Brilliant film, defo worth a watch. Just a note to watch the paying machine as you leave the car park...the machine is new but its very slow and you can't tell whether your payment has registered or not, so just be careful especially when paying with card.

The best shop i found was a lovely shoe shop with lovely, quality shoes and bags. I was very shocked to see how cheap the shoes were and brought a lovely grey pair of boots. I think the shop was called Jeff bains. Also, me and my mum were hungry and found a cafe at the bottom in the market, right at the back in the corner. They sold homemade Lobby with warm roll, hot beef/Turkey and Stuffing/pork and stuffing bap with gravy and roast potatoes. Lot's of delicious cakes, sunday roast , i could go on. Was really tasty and i will be going back.

Shame most of the shops in the market are closing down now. It use to be a great place to take the kids. The shopping centre has changed over the years so much hmv was once the largest in the area, now it's just a small corner piece in the top part of the center. Still has Ann summers in there but never has anyone in itm

Great place, lots of shops, somewhat busy at weekends, plenty of places to grab a bite to eat such as, bbs. Toilets are upstairs which can be an issue. Its a shame a lot of shops have closed. There is: primark, lush, superdrug, starbucks, schuh, bbs, claires and more.

Potteries centre used to love going to stoke at one point first time I been in over 10 years an wow I've got to say I've never seen the local area look so run down. The whole local area of stoke needs massive investment to bring it back to where it was many years ago.

I suppose it depends whats shop you are after. Any mall is going to be a mall hang out meet up out meet up for all ages. Funny story, I was in yesterday and was nearly decapacitated on the way in by a youth holding a bicycle above his head while his entourage cheered him on. He was met by a wall of security and I get the idea was they were not welcome. My fertile mind wonders if the new sport is biking round up the ramp to the empty escalator floors then down again dodging security sending shoppers flying like 1976 Monroeville ninepins. Their mates recording and uploading to u tube extreme urban challenge sites? Apart from that I that I don't think the ground floor has changed much and they seem pretty busy

Sadly this place went downhill after the pandemic. Devastated to learn there are no shops left. This place could do with more stores because it is tiring to go to Bullring to get things I won't find in the Potteries. Please bring Zara, Mango and a make-up place with premium make-up.

Shame that most of the shops appear empty, we went for the pop-up shop after seeing who was meant to be in that week we were really excited only to get there to find it closed with no info regarding it online & then when asking nobody seemed to know if it had even been in… I think from now on we’ll be going to Talke only as at least there’s all the shops full & Free parking.

I was quite surprised to find such a large selection of shops still open. The way the press are talking, they would have you believe there's no reason to go here anymore. Haven't been for ages but will be returning again. So much more convenient than going to Manchester.

Great cafe and phone repair shop in the old market in the basement. Who needs all the bling and high-priced shops above.its globalisation and big chains that are killing the high Street. Long live the old markets and small businesses.

  • 3/5 Jeremiah 1 year ago on Google
They still have some good shops such as H&M, New Look, Pandora etc. However, many shops are empty, such as Next, Miss Selfridge, Topshop and not to mention the 3/4 floors from Debenhams. Owners also have an extraordinarily high price for the pop up shop, which is a good idea but at £250 a week and with limited customers is a risk of a loss, which leads even that to be often empty and without a business in there. More development needs to be made for the shopping centre as a whole. The food area with Bon Pan, Burger Priest and more is good and the cinema is decent. The same amount of care needs to go into the shops though.

  • 2/5 Kieron S. 1 year ago on Google
Potteries shopping centre has hardly any shops left, with more units vacant and nothing to offer! It really is depressing and not worth the visit. The restaurants by cineworld have pretty much disappeared too!! Everything seems to be closed and it resembles a ghost town. The city centre needs major investment asap!

I loved Goodnight Sweatheart as a child and Stoke has done an amazing job of recreating that going back in time experience. Michael J Fox would be proud. First class I can't fault anything it's so authentic you just couldn't tell. Well done stoke and welcome to the 50's 👍

Nice place to shop at it's like a shopping mall with lots of other shops such as clothing stores, bakery, coffee shops, beauty shops and julery shops. There is even a nice food market at the bottom floor which they have fresh good quality food. it has a nice design to the building and I really recommend shopping there

Interesting space, being going for years however the quantity and quality are slowly going downhill. Festival retail park already has the same stores in a closer and more convenient space. However some stores are still worth a visit such as HMV and Primark.

My first visit to the potteries centre, the car parking system was a bit confusing there are no signs explaining the car numberplate recognition so had to ask how it works but regulars to the centre were happy to help us. As for the centre lots of shops, welcoming and respectful to us having an assistance dog with us. Over all an accessible welcoming place with lots to offer.

Returned to Hanley for the first time in 20 years and had a wander through the centre. Seems a shadow of its former self. Lots of empty stores - though it at least felt safer than walking the streets around it.

Not as good as it used to be. Next has gone so had to get back in the car and drive to festival park. Seems like it's struggled since Debamnems went. There is a nice little discount shop that could do with more customers.

The lifts are always down in this place which is not good if you children. It also needs sprucing up as I always find the potteries centre to be bland looking. However lots of different shops which is good.

It's very depressing. There are so many empty units. In my youth, I would have spent an entire day shopping, eating, and chasing boys. Now the shopping is limited, the food court nonexistent, and the boys have been replaced with grumpy old men coming in for a warm.

  • 1/5 Vikki C. 1 year ago on Google
I dont know why we keep coming here. It is our local shopping centre, and we braved it again to go clothes/shoe shopping for us and our son. We came here mainly for primark, but upon getting to the store, there was no pushchair access from the shopping centre, and we had to take our toddler out of his pushchair and walk down the steps. Once inside, there was no lift access to go up to the children's and mens clothing. We gave up and left primark at this point without buying anything. There weren't many options for children's shoe stores and we ended up wandering into Clarkes (which we quickly left as the shoe selection was poor, and the shoes were nearly £50, which our son would grow out of quickly!!!). We went to the toy store, which was ok (not as big as most of the toy stores we have visited). A number of the escalators were not working either which made getting around difficult. Overall, there are no shops worth coming to this centre for. The branded stores like primark and the entertainer are much better elsewhere. The shopping centre was very inaccessible with a pushchair, especially primark. Would not recommend.

Like most people who grew up in Stoke in the early 2000s, I spent a lot of time at the Potteries shopping centre. Back then, there was a big food court, top quality shops, and a busy atmosphere, both in and outside the centre. Twenty years later, it’s looking pretty bleak. Most of the decent shops, such as Topshop and Debenhams, are gone, or have been crammed into smaller units. The indoor market is also a shadow of its former self. Outside, I was shocked to see that the opening hours of the brilliant Potteries Museum have been slashed, a huge loss to families and visitors to the town. After the closure of Webberleys a decade or so ago, the one bright spot is that Waterstones is still going. The addition of the cinema is also positive, although it still doesn’t measure up to Vue in Newcastle. Visiting Hanley is not the experience it used to be. Park your nostalgia and keep your expectations low.

  • 4/5 Pete S. 9 months ago on Google
It's just another town/city centre shopping centre, it's been given a bit of a revamp over the last few years, so with added cinema's & bars it's also got some nice bars & restaurants if that's your thing!

A fairly run of the mill mall with the typical mix of familiar brands and shuttered store fronts. Nothing particularly interesting but it’s a convenient stop when around in the city center. Wouldn’t make a special trip just to visit this mall.

Have been going to the Potteries Centre for many years and I have loved going there for the most part (it used to be one of the best places to go in Hanley, which is otherwise a somewhat rough area), however, it has slowly gone downhill since the pandemic started two years ago because shops I loved visiting like Debenhams, Topshop (TopMan), Monsoon and Next have now gone and the only places worth going for me now are probably WHSmith, HMV, Primark and maybe the Cinema. My other issues with the Centre (which I have had before the pandemic began) are that there is no indoor food court (I have always felt it was a huge mistake to shut the original food court down years ago) even though the Hive when it opened was nice (pricing of the food was a bit expensive though and some of the restaurants have now shut due to the pandemic), more toilets could be available in each floor, could charge less money for parking (or make parking free) and there is no disabled access to Primark from inside the Centre or even the lower ground floor from the main corridor of the Centre (not a huge issue for me but very inconvenient for people who are disabled or who have pushchairs/prams). However, even with these issues, I still liked going to the Potteries Centre but with the recent shop closures, I don't love going there as much as I used to. That being said, the Potteries Centre is still in a better state than the Roebuck Centre in Newcastle (nearly dead & reduced into a near-empty indoor walking corridor now) and I can only hope it gets back to what it was before the pandemic in the future.

The potteries Centre is running low on shops. It's quite empty and I had a bad experience in the EE shop with the staff. However, they do have a few shops that make up for it like Game, entertainer and HMV. It would be nice to see new shops opening in the empty places rather seeing it going down.

Most of the well known shops are closed in the city, half closed in Potteries Centre. No traffic, felt like it was still in lockdown. Most gone to Retail parks out of town. OK for those with cars but for the senior citizens who 'they' want to get off the roads, how do they get there?
