My
friends
and
I
were
on
our
way
back
to
the
US
from
a
trip
to
Vancouver
BC
and
I
wanted
to
buy
a
souvenir,
so
I
googled
“Canadian
gift
shops”
and
this
place
popped
up.
My
friends
stayed
in
the
car
while
I
went
in
since
we
figure
I’d
be
in
and
out
quickly,
but
this
massive
fortress
of
a
mall
had
me
searching
for
this
elusive
gift
shop
for
half
an
hour
before
I
found
it
on
edge
of
the
top
floor.
I
spent
the
next
45
minutes
attempting
to
find
an
exit
to
this
mall,
and,
having
no
service
on
my
phone,
I
was
left
at
the
mercy
of
the
various
mostly
unlabeled
store
maps.
I
somehow
ended
up
in
a
strange
stairwell
that
looked
like
it
was
straight
out
of
the
backrooms
and
I
wound
up
in
an
entirely
different
parking
lot
than
I
came
in
from.
I
tried
calling
my
friends,
only
to
find
out
two
of
them
had
left
the
car
and
gone
into
the
store
to
find
me.
I
then
ventured
back
into
the
labyrinth
and
attempted
to
bring
my
friends
to
where
I
was.
“Go
towards
the
big
octopus,”
I
told
them,
hopeful
they’d
end
up
in
the
Grand
Hall
where
I
was.
“Is
the
grand
atrium
the
same
as
the
grand
hall?”
They
asked
over
the
phone
with
muffled
and
inconsistent
reception.
It
was
truly
a
bewildering
experience
I’ll
never
forget.
We
finally
reunited
after
another
half
hour
and
got
back
to
the
parking
lot
20
minutes
later
to
find
our
last
friend
asleep,
having
grown
tired
of
our
shenanigans.
Now,
whenever
I’m
drying
dishes
and
I
use
the
Canadian
flag
dish
towel,
I’ll
remember
how
lost
I
was
in
this
amalgamation
of
stores
and
gift
shops.
Tbh
this
place
would
make
a
good
escape
room.
No
puzzles,
the
only
challenge
is
just
to
find
the
same
exit
you
came
in
from.
