Great choice of shops, some are high end selling brands but also plenty of bargain stores, all selling great quality items at reasonable prices, something for everyone, lots of sales on, tidy throughout and gorgeous festive decorations, Upper and lower stores, escalator and lift available, good accessibility for pushchairs and wheelchairs, plenty of places to eat, and good transport connections with the bus station being directly below

Big indoor shopping mall directly next to Doncaster train station. You can walk into the mall from the train station without going outside. There's a multi-storey car park, collect ticket on way in and pay for ticket at machine before returning to your car. Its number plate recognition, so you don't actually need to insert a ticket at the exit barrier. There are alot of shops and food outlets. The food tends to be fast food, quite a selection. There's even a pub, yes an actual pub in the shopping centre for those who want to combine their 2 favourite hobbies. The pub doesn't have a beer garden.

We visited Frenchgate shopping centre yesterday because we wanted to eat at cosmo. Parking at this shopping centre was very easy even in our VW van. The shopping centre itself was very clean and tidy and housed many mainstream shops and restaurants. Myself and my wife were very impressed by frenchgate and Doncaster and plan on revisiting in the near future.

The carpark is really easy to use and very big, the shopping centre has a mixture of everything and the food court is small but gives you a good choice of different fast food outlets. Very well situated as the bus station is right next to the shopping centre and the train station is close by too.

Decent variety and mix of shops, I particularly liked its connection to the train and bus stations. Had a nice time strolling around when I had to suddenly change travel plans. Was surprised by how early the shops close. After 18.00 on a week day the place was eerily quiet.

I am not a fan of this area, mainly due to the general public having no respect or manners. No social distancing, but the majority did wear a mask but it's those that don't wear them that prolong this awful situation we find ourselves in.

Hadn't been for 2 years and won't be going back. I used to work at the centre and it was thriving then. Now there's a horrible atmosphere, didn't feel safe at all. Lots of intimidating behaviour and felt I had to watch my bag. Wasn't worth the journey.

I find this place stress inducing due to the copious amounts of people here, although nowhere near as bad as Meadowhell. Also the accessibility around the main section of the centre isn’t great either, when I went with poorly knees I had to go into a shop to get down via a lift as the main ones were just far too busy. More lifts need to be added in the centre atrium.

In my experience, there's a theme of poor signposting around Doncaster. The Frenchgate centre is no exception. If you enter from the bus station being a first time visitor, you might never find a way out (or anything you're looking for!) without asking locals for help. It's also pot luck as to if the locals in question are feeling helpful, or mischievous... If you want an 'escape room' experience on the cheap, this is probably worth a try!

I haven't been to Frenchgate for about 5years. Its change. I only went on the 1st floor as went to Vision Express. There's plenty of shops for everything you could want. Went and had Coffee in Costas it was very busy. Will look around more next week when I pick up my new pairs of glasses. Plenty of room to sitdown if you wanted to. Will look more next time.

Lovely place to shop for all your needs, you can buy whatever you want and not have to leave the frenchgate centre, you can even have a decent meal at lunchtime and start again. Then when you have shopped your full, it's round to the wonderful cake shop for coffee and the most amazing pieces of cake. Day done, back to car and home.

Been going here all my life and still a good place to go for a few hours, good variety of clothes, shops and food stores. There is a little bit of everything here. The main issue is the security on notorious for being rather nasty and if you go at the wrong times there are swarms of kids and chavs running around, I have witnessed a few times the kids run away from security and run right into people. Not French gates fault of course but something to be careful of

All the main high street shops you need. Also lots of places to eat although would be nice to have a few more healthier options aside from the likes of Burger joints, pizza, pub etc. clean and well kempt.

The kiddies rides are expensive £2 per ride! But I love how new they are. Shops were all clean and fantastic place toshop. Parking tricky to get to if u don't know the place and nor used to driving in city centres like me.

Lots of shops closed at moment but the necessary ones ie Boots, Post Office, Sainsburys still open. People struggling to follow rules of which side to walk and wearing a mask but these are in minority.

Popped in to Frenchgate this morning and found a lovely store with different stalls inside. My favourite KC Fragrance is inside. Beautiful burners and gorgeous smelling. John and Wendy are very friendly

The Frenchgate centre (Doncaster) was at one time, one of the most exciting and innovative shopping centres in South Yorkshire outside of Meadowhall. Sadly I can see the that the crowds are down due to the pandemic restrictions which maybe great for stress free shopping, but noticed that a favourite haunt of mine an indoor open air style coffee shop was closed.. In fact many smaller stores were also closed.. People were friendly enough including shop staff. Hopefully this dismal year of 2020 will have long gone from our memories and a brighter future will be on the horizon...

Large shopping centre with a vast variety of shops of all kind. You can find supermarkets, shoe stores, bookstores, clothing stores and coffee and snacks here, clean places, and always crowed!!!

  • 5/5 Garry W. 3 years ago on Google
As with any other shopping mall, the French gate has almost everything you need. Price wise always has good offers and although no where as big as Meadowhall, I always end up back there as in my mind it is cheaper overall. It would be great if free parking was available which in turn would attract many more customers who will be contemplating the availability of this who do not come at the moment.

No control over local teenagers. Give Doncaster a bad name. No face coverings worn even though notices say anyone 11 and older should wear them. Not a safe place. Should be closed until they have a handle on the pandemic and increase security

Frenchgate is a shopping mall adjoined to the Bus Interchange. If you have business in Doncaster town centre your route can be through it. I use it for some of my shopping experience. It serves it's purpose but like all other cities & towns it is struggling to attract retailers into Doncaster.

  • 4/5 Julia H. 2 years ago on Google
Decided to visit Doncaster as I haven't been since I was a teen. Not easy to park....but that was forgiven by the easy atmosphere of the centre. Plenty of shops, good labels, and a few places to stop for coffee. Clean, tidy and welcoming but no where special to eat. Would recommend as there are other areas outside that are good to visit too. Worth the trip!

  • 3/5 Amy F. 2 years ago on Google
It's OK, slowly getting better. Quite a small shopping centre overall, could do with a wider variety of shops and restaurants. Better security is also needed and free parking to bring people in.

Off the train minutes later your in French- gate shopping centre Doncaster. Easy access for everyone. We like this place it's not over crowded ' and there's something for everyone. Good food outlets to keep kids happy, walk outside then your in the town centre again loads of shops a good market also a nice selection of pubs if you want to dine. There all worth a visit although Saturdays can get busy but don't let this put you off, like us give Doncaster a visit.

An absolutely amazing shopping centre, over 120 shops, several food outlets in the food court. Christmas displays look amazing. Lovely Christmas scene with polar bears that move. Clean and bright, some great art work on walls and interesting history of Doncaster. Close to train station and town centre, primark around the corner.

  • 4/5 Damian K. 2 years ago on Google
Brilliant indoor shopping centre. Only downside is the anti social behaviour from youths who hang around all day. Security are forever chasing them out the building, for them to come back. Frenchgate has a good variety of shops though. Only main issue is car park machines can be problematic

This is a wonderful blend of old and modern at the centre of Doncaster. Retail and leisure sit side by side with ease. The access is well balanced and allows for all aspects of retail to be available to every taste. The pubs restaurants and refreshment areas are well balanced with parking, pedestrian and bus and taxi services all accescible Large areas are given over to pedestrian and disabled access The train station is situated close to the bus station.Well done to planners.

Good variety of shops, staff very pleasant, help points if you need it.

  • 3/5 Christine E. 2 years ago on Google
Managed to purchase the item I was looking for but spent the minimum amount of time there as possible due to the number of people ignoring the new mask wearing rules. Some literally carrying them around rather than wearing them. No-one challenging this at all. The place was being cleaned but chewing gum was a really sticky issue everywhere. Shop staff however in several stores were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The service provided was excellent.

  • 2/5 Dean H. 2 years ago on Google
Trouble is I remember the good old days when you could buy everything you needed from there, sadly those days have gone. The Internet has killed it and unfortunately I can't see it ever returning, young people these days don't realise the damage it's caused. Doncaster is going to be a ghost town soon if nothing is done, businesses need help unfortunately the council seems to be turning a blind eye to the problem.

The place its self isn't bad it's the crowd's it attracts, visited a couple of days ago and kids were running round setting fire extinguishers off, I think more needs to be done in and around the town centre now. Doncaster and the Frechgate used to be great, now it just seems everyone has given up.

Outstanding service from Frenchgate customer services and staff from Elephant & Castle in trying to deal with a faulty lift which was unable to be rectified, but they all ensured that our pre-booked meal at the Elephant & Castle was still accessible by lifting our boy in his wheelchair in and back out again via the entrance steps. Special Thanks again for all the staff involved for going up and beyond their duties.

Good place to go shopping, size wise decent size with plenty of shops to choose. Its nothing compare to meadowhall but its the shopping heart of Doncaster with bus station underneath and train station by side. Primark and fish market are just down the road.

  • 4/5 Emma R. 1 year ago on Google
Well maintained and very clean, good selection of shops. The only downfall is is that most shops close relatively early and as far as I’m aware there is no late night shopping night on a regular basis.

  • 4/5 Karen H. 2 years ago on Google
Good as far as shopping centres go. Multi-story car parking has plenty of spaces and is easily found and has really good parking charges also. Not as big as i thought but decent shops within. Only negative was the baby changing toilets were locked and you need to call a number to have them unlocked but i couldn't get a signal so gave up.

Superb shopping centre with a great variety of outlets and facilities. It is part of the bus and rail interchange making it extremely easy to get to. It is very well used and there are hardly any vacant outlets. It is bright, cheerful and clean making it a most pleasurable experience.

Nice. Clean. Full of shops, cares, restaurants etc. Just that all these shopping malls/ centres etc are beginning to feel like they are all the same. Don't you just miss when each city/ town centre had its own character and feel. Handy for buses, trains and car parking.

Nice bight and airy Shopping Centre, Clean and tidy with all of the major big brand shops there but also some really good lesser-known shops too, each offering something a little different. We did have a little trouble finding the car park on our first visit tho! - a combination of satnav losing signal at the underpass and possibly not the greatest signage.

  • 4/5 clair e. 1 year ago on Google
I love this place, its our usual go to for girls shopping trip. Lots of good shops to check out, and places to grab a bite. We usually come in on the train, the train station is directly adjacent to French gate, and you don't have to go outside to go from the station to the shopping centre. French gate is in a good location, quite central to go from there to have a look at the other shops in Doncaster's centre, and the market. Definitely worth a visit, especially around Christmas, the decorations are fabulous, they really make an effort and there is usually a Santa's grotto for the kids too.

  • 5/5 Matt J. 1 year ago on Google
Large range of shops to browse from big names to small independent shops. Loads of parking and the place has been done up and looks great. Suggestion would be to have a map or two for out of town people to help find the shops they are looking for. Took us a couple of minutes to find build a bear.

  • 3/5 Ninja566guy2 R. 1 year ago on Google
It has a good selection of shops and eateries. However today was not great, as soon as you walked into the centre there was a strong smell of urine. It could be smelt all around the bottom floor.

Not been here before, just had a quick look round whilst waiting for a train...glad I did - found some shops that sell decent mens clothes so I'll definitely be heading back

  • 4/5 Mel T. 1 year ago on Google
A good shopping centre to visit. We spent a few hours here and found it to be clean and well organised with enough shops and eateries to keep everyone happy. I gave it four stars and not five purely on the basis that I felt it was lacking a few brands, so that's my expectations not the fault of Frenchgate! It is very conveniently placed above the bus station and adjacent to the railway station.

  • 4/5 Mel S. 1 year ago on Google
Like most malls now. Mo major departments stores and several empty sites. They are rapidly losing their appeal. As a result we rarely now visit. Sad demise of our town centres.

  • 2/5 Jonathan P. 1 year ago on Google
Half-empty with a deficit of retail and a surfeit of places to eat in the "new economy", but then half the shops in Doncaster are shut and the local Commies annihilated the culturally iconic market which has run since the deep past wiping out loads of small traders. So much for small enterprise.

  • 3/5 Tyrell A. 1 year ago on Google
It’s nice but too busy (to be expected though). Also there’s not enough lifts for the amount of people that use them. They also need to get the one by the back exit near sainsburys sorted.

  • 3/5 Gemma L. 1 year ago on Google
Not as good as when BHS and Debenhams were there, a lack of children's clothing stores and all clothing in general. The place is mainly full of food outlets. There were frenchgate security having a natter while a gang of 4 teenage girls were stood in close proximity vaping.

  • 1/5 Gail J. 1 year ago on Google
Couldn't find way out for level 3 parking, started having panic attack 😫 security looked on! When eventually I asked security for help, clearly distressed, the person was arrogant and unhelpful and looked miffed because id interrupted him texting 🙄 can't believe you can have a nervous breakdown and no one cares

Visited for the first time ever, I loved the christmas decorations, there is a lot to explore. I wish I had more time to check every corner of this place, but was tight on time unfortunately. I definitely will come visit again . Also a good spot for shopping right now with Black Friday deals I saved quite a lot. The atmosphere was very pleasant, can recommend this place to everyone. I suggest to prepare more time in advance for the visit as there is a lot to see.

  • 5/5 Amanda M. 1 year ago on Google
I did not visit any shops on that day. Used it to pass through as it was really raining. Did have a quick look around when something caught my eyes. Not really too busy, but enough to keep the shops open.

  • 3/5 marc k. 1 year ago on Google
Great variety of shops. Shame about the odd ones that have closed down and haven't been filled. My main gripe is with groups of teenagers hanging about everywhere. I'm my opinion they should be made to move on.

  • 3/5 Richard L. 10 months ago on Google
Great place for shopping a lot of empty places now maybe needs to bring cost of rent down. Could really do with a John Lewis in the shopping centre. Got a small food area, but I got a good range. The bus station is located underneath, and the train station is connected as well. Click a d collect available in most shops

  • 5/5 Chris A. 10 months ago on Google
I have seen this shopping centre change and evolve over the past 45 years. It's nice to wander around and see people and interact with shop staff rather than to online shop. It's a shame Debenhams has gone. We should do less online and more high street shopping.

Large variety of shops, both big brands and smaller names. Lots of places to grab something to eat. Easily accessible by car, bus or walking. Clean toilets.

  • 4/5 Harley A. 10 months ago on Google
Here almost everyday for transport via bus. The shopping centre is amazing and has everything you'd need. If I had to say something bad about, it's how busy it can get and that the food court hasn't got the widest array of options like Meadowhall's Oasis in Sheffield.

  • 1/5 Edward C. 8 months ago on Google
Could be a pleasant experience if the outside was better monitored by security staff ,and the so called council street wardens ,who will issue a fine if you drop anything on city streets but would not approach two ladies who were arguing and fouled mouth whilst not on this planet through drink with cans in hand at 0930 am and the wardens just stood there , did not feel it was a safe place, toilets are a joke!!!!
