This place is wonderful, because being here is a feeling of purity and peace where you forgot all your miseries and have a positive mind. There are several types of seva (services) include everything when you come in Delhi you can please visit this place Most Important : Keeping the head covered is important, and headscarves are available in a basket at the entrance for free History :The ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur was beheaded here on 11 November 1675 on the orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, when Guru Tegh Bahadur protested against the forceful conversion of Kashmiri Pandits and dharmic people to Islam. However, before their body could be quartered and exposed to public view, it was stolen under the cover of darkness by one of his disciples, Lakhi Shah Vanjara who, then burnt his house to cremate Guru's body; today, at this site stands Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib The trunk of the tree beneath which the head of the Guru was severed and the well used by him for taking bath during his prison term have been preserved in the shrine. Also, adjoining the gurudwara, stands the Kotwali (police station), where Guru was imprisoned and his disciples were tortured. Located close to it is the Sunehri Masjid (Chandni Chowk). Tourist Tips: 1. Keep your head covered with any dupatta, scarf or handkerchief. If someone does not bring any scarf, dupatta then many scarfs are available in a big basket which is free provided, placed at the entrance of Gurudwara. 2.Shoes are forbidden in the holy place.Leave them on a rack outside. 3.Maintain silence when you entering the Gurudwara Sahib. Opening Time: The Gurudwara is open 24/7 Things To Do: 1.Attend the Shabad Kirtan(religious hymns) and prayer session and take the blessings. 2. get Karah(hoy), Prasad. 3. Eat Langar from Holy Kitchen. 4.The tall Flag called Nishan Sahib is its landmark structure.

This lovely temple is in the midst of Old Delhi and a historic site, the martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru (dating back to 1675). It gives one some exposure to the Sikh religion and for me as a westerner was a great experience. A very nice old building (built in 1783), you enter in bare feet and wash your feet prior entry, the music, the reverence of the interior, the colours and the music and chants are quite amazing. It is indeed a special place. It is worth reading about the Temple before your visit (we sadly had not done that but have since done so and relived the visit reviewing the many photos taken). We now know a lot more about the history and philosophy behind the Sikh religion and way of life. It is also important to visit the kitchens and see where the huge amounts of fresh food are prepared – vegetables and breads, to feed the poor. A very worthwhile visit and a unique insight into a major part of Indian culture.

The moment you enter you become a part of very calm and peaceful atmosphere. It offers langar seva entire day in a very well organized manner. It is not really important to add, but still, people across all faiths visit here. Well managed by a highly disciplined team who love to serve humans.

Whenever I go to Chandni Chowk, I definitely visit here to get peace. Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib is one of the nine historical Gurdwaras in Delhi. It was first constructed in 1783 as a small shrine by Baghel Singh to commemorate the martyrdom site of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur.🙏 As per my view religious places are not required any review. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

💜Welcome tourist. There is left hand side a centre for tourist outside the entrance. They will help you wrap your head and keep your shoes inside the room, so you can visit freely and take photo inside. At first i worried that is fake place but turns out official. So no worry

Wahe Guru Ji Da Khalsa... Wahe Guru Ji Di Fateh... This place doesn't require any review of a comman explorer like me. Sis Ganj Sahib is well maintained just like other gurudwaras, it has an important role in Sikhism. 24*7 Langer runs here, you can take prashad. All facilities like parking, stay for guests etc available. Holy place of martyrdom of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji is on the square in front of gurudwara. A museum is also there where you should definitely visit to know the history of Sikhism and the contribution of holy saints to save Hinduism and Sikhism.

It's such a beautiful, holy place amidst the most crowded market of Chandni Chowk. Humble people at its service will surely make you feel like you should also join and do some service. Everything you visit this place, you'll get enriching experience. Earlier people coming by car used hard to find parking, despite the fact Gurdwara has its own free parking. But now people can park in Omaxe mall parking which is just 1 min walk. Though there're no restrictions for photography, most people keep their phones off out of respect to others offering prayers.

Visited Sis Gani Gurudwara at Chandni Chowk. A serene place offering spiritual solace in the heart of bustling Delhi. The architecture is captivating, and the community's warmth is truly welcoming. A must-visit for those seeking a peaceful retreat amidst the vibrant chaos of the city.

Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib holds a special place in my heart. Nestled in Old Delhi, this spiritual sanctuary resonates with historical importance and an atmosphere that touches the soul. As I step into the gurdwara, the architectural beauty, adorned with intricate details, creates a serene backdrop for reflection. The significance of Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib, marking the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, adds a profound layer of reverence to the experience. The courtyard exudes tranquility, providing a space for contemplation and connection with Sikh heritage. Inside, the spiritual energy is palpable, intensified by the melodic recitation of Gurbani. The Langar, where free meals are served to all, embodies the Sikh spirit of selfless service and equality, fostering a sense of community. For me, Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib is not just a historical site but a personal journey into introspection and a deep connection with Sikh values. The dedicated volunteers and the inclusive ethos of the gurdwara create a welcoming space for individuals from diverse backgrounds. In my opinion, this sacred place goes beyond being a mere place of worship; it stands as a living testament to the enduring legacy of Sikhism.

First time visiting a gurudwara, before entering you need to watch your toes and hands, so if you are wearing a shoe make sure you are removing the socks. There are volunteers who will take your shoes and give you tokens and that very safe. When you will be entering the main door you need to cover your head, if you don’t have any clothes or head covers don’t worry they will provide you at the door and at the exit you can drop of the head cover that was given to you. Overall it was good experience, they were singing or praying I didn’t realize but for sure it sounded comforting.

Shees ganj Gurudwara is situated in chandni chowk. Old Delhi. This area is very congested, even then the Gurudwara is huge and covers a large area. It is very beautiful and facelift was very good. I have visited after a very long time. Gurudwara Shees Ganj Sahib was built at the spot where Guru Teg Bahadur was beheaded by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, when the former refused to convert to Islam.

Before his body could be quartered and exposed to public view, it was stolen under the cover of darkness by one of his disciples, Lakhi Shah Vanjara, who then burnt his house to cremate the Guru's body. This place is marked by another gurdwara, Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. The severed head ("Sis" in Hindi or Punjabi) of Guru Tegh Bahadur was brought to Anandpur Sahib by Bhai Jaita, another disciple of the Guru. Before it was cremated, he took it to Ambala city for a night and there is another gurdwara as well by the name of Shri Sis Ganj Gurdwara near there local vegetable market, Gobind Rai, who would later become Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and last Guru of the Sikhs.

The history of this Gurudwara dates back to 1783 when this was built on place where Guru Teg Bhadur was martyred. I am visiting this Gurudwara from my childhood and we used to take a DTC bus to go there or go on scooter with father from Tilak Bridge. Gurudwara Sahib has expanded its langar hall and entry over a period of time. You will get so much peace of mind while visiting here and love to chant prayers. You can also take Delhi Metro and get down at Chandni Chowk #Delhi #India #Heritage

It is best to visit the Gurudwara Sahib before 8 am or max 8:30 am if one wants to enter and exit the area without any hassle and also jf one wants to take the vehicle inside and find a parking spot on the street right in front of the Gurudwara Sahib. Many beggars will bother you outside the Gurudwara, so be careful to not to take big purses or carry bags along. If you visit during any other time of the day, do not take your vehicle inside the area. In case you get the chance to enter the area, your exit will become very hectic and most likely you will get stuck in a huge traffic deadlock. Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib is a Sikh historical Gurudwara. A day of Sangat visit this Gurudwara on daily basis. Often many pilgrims from far away places also come to pay their homage to this Gurudwara. The Gurudwara Sahib is very neat and clean, with all the proper arrangements for the Sangat. It has to climb a set of 10-12 stairs so as to reach the Gurudwara entrance. It is situated right in the middle of Chandni Chowk, which is a very crowded area of the city.

Situated in the Chandi Chowk area of Old Delhi, Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib is one among the nine historical gurudwaras in Delhi. Built in 1783 by Baghel Singh (military general in the Punjab cantonment), the gurdwara is the martyrdom site of the ninth Sikh Guru-Guru Tegh Bahadur. The Sikh Guru was executed here on the orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb on the 11th of November 1675 as he refused to convert his religion to Islam. Before the body could be revived and displayed for view for the devotees, it was stolen by one of the Guru’s disciples Lakhi Shah Vanjara. Vanjara carried the body to his home and burnt down his house to cremate his Guru. Today, Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib stands at that spot. The head of Guru Tegh Bahadur was taken to Anandpur Sahib and cremated there by his son. Like all other gurdwaras, this one is also open to people of all religions and faith to visit.

Excellent & must visit place. This gurudwara is an old sacred place. It is the symbol of the highest sacrifices done by Sikh community. It is the place where Guru Teg Bahadur Ji & his disciples were severely agonized & later killed by tyrant in 17th century. This place also has a sacred well from Guru Teg Bahadur Ji took his last bath. You can collect the sacred water & take to your home, but you need to bring something for collection. Nearby Red fort & Delhi famous Sadar Bazaar & paratho wali gali are also there to visit.

It was first constructed in 1783 as a small shrine by Baghel Singh Dhaliwal to commemorate the martyrdom site of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur and was probably expanded after Indian Rebellion of 1857 or after Partition of India. Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib is one of the nine popular Gurdwaras in Delhi. Gurudwara was built in the late 18th century, where Guru Teg Bahadur was beheaded. The Gurudwara is situated in Chandi Chowk area and just few meters away from famous historical Red Fort. The gurudwara's architecture is most fascinating. Main hall is very spacious and has a bronze canopy in the middle under which the holy book, Guru Granth Sahib is kept. Gurudwara Sis Ganj is very peaceful and neatly maintained. They offer Langer to all community without any discrimination. Free water and shoe stand facility is there . They also provide accommodation inside gurudwara at very nominal charges, preferred to Sikh community. Must visit, if you are in Delhi !!!

All Sikh shrines are great to be and to pay our gratitude for the life and all we have. But everyone is amazed as how they do so much charity and without even a single days gap. Gurudwara Sis Ganj is beautiful. The main hall or Darbar is so well decorated and one is stunned with the big chandelier in the hall. Very selfless ambience, smiling faces (now a days you can see those through the eyes as masks are up🙂)

The place is a must visit for everyone who have only read about the sacrifices. This is a more practical and pictorial way to teach young children about sikhi and how the sikhs gave their lives for everyone. Kids only read about sikhi in schools, head about it from parents and teachers, but this place shows them the real picture. A picture is worth a thousand words, and there are a lot of them here. Best Gurudwara experience near chandni chowk beautiful place.

Peace. Prasada. Pious. You can visit Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib at any day of the year and you will feel peace. You should experience of having Langar. All the people irrespective of any caste, religion or community sit together on the floor and eat Prasada (meal) together. The bestest time to visit the Gurudwara is on the day of Gurupurab. Lit candles and celebrate His blessings. Nearest Metro Station is Chandi Chowk.

The awesome spiritual experience is at this Gurudwara. It is Located in the heart of Chandni Chowk, Delhi’s most popular marketplace, Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib is a historical shrine as it marks the exact site wherein 1675 Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, was mercilessly beheaded on orders by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb when he refused to embrace Islam & fought for the Hindus’ right to practice their own faith. One thing that sets the Gurudwaras apart from other places of worship is the exceptional sense of camaraderie among the people here. More often than not you’ll find a helpful, kind-looking Sikh who’ll guide you through the place & give you all the necessary knowledge about its significance & code of conduct. The Gurudwara personnel & regular-looking visitors are invariably amiable and will always have some interesting fact or two to share with you about their religion & its history. It’s an enriching experience every single time. The Gurudwara is a minute’s walk away from the Chandni Chowk Metro Station & is in the vicinity of other popular tourist sites like the Red Fort & Jama Masjid. When someone looking for peace and serenity, don't miss to visit this sacred place. Location :Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib - Chandni Chowk Road, Maliwara Chatta Pratap, Chandni Chowk New Delhi.

This adorable temple is in the midst of old Delhi and a ancient site, the martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru (relationship returned to 1675). It offers one a few exposure to the Sikh faith and for me as a westerner changed into a fantastic revel in. a completely satisfactory antique building (constructed in 1783), you enter in naked feet and wash your ft prior access, the song, the reverence of the interior, the colors and the tune and chants are pretty first rate. it's miles certainly a special area. it's miles worth analyzing approximately the Temple before your go to (we alas had not executed that but have when you consider that achieved so and relived the visit reviewing the numerous photographs taken). We now understand plenty extra approximately the records and philosophy in the back of the Sikh religion and way of existence. it is also essential to visit the kitchens and see where the large quantities of clean meals are prepared – greens and breads, to feed the poor. a totally worthwhile visit and a completely unique perception into a first-rate a part of Indian subculture.

I stumbled across this place and decided to join in the fun. To the right of the entrance there is a place to take off your shoes you have it to the attendant who gives you a locker number. Then wash your hands in the sinks provided and feet in the foot bath (all clean looking water). Grab a head covering from the basket and enter and admire. All free. There is a tourist center too, apparently they do free English tours, I only saw this as I was leaving. I'm not a very spiritual person but found the visit culturally enlightening and very enjoyable.

Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib is one of the nine historical Gurdwaras in Delhi. It was first constructed in 1783 as a small shrine by Baghel Singh to commemorate the martyrdom site of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur and was probably expanded after Indian Rebellion of 1857 or after Partition of India. Before its construction the Mughal Kotwali (Police Station and Jail) was situated here. After the Indian Rebellion of 1857 the Mughal Kotwali was demolished by the British and the land was given to the Sikhs as the Maharaja of Patiala and other Sikh soldiers helped the British to defeat the Mughal soldiers by providing large numbers of ammunition and soldiers. Its current building was made by Rai Bahadur Narain Singh a contractor who build most of roads in Lutyens New Delhi construction under British Rule. Situated in Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi, it marks the site where the ninth Sikh Guru was beheaded on the orders of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb on 11 November 1675. The Sikh regiment of the Indian army salute the Sis Ganj Gurudwara before saluting the president of India since 1979, the only instance of saluting twice in the Republic Day parade by a regiment of Indian army.

It's really is a great place for relaxing. I was with my friends in chandani chowk for some work and after that we visited this gurudwara and rested here for few minutes, it was very relaxing and good experience. We have some other work to do so we didn't eat the 'langar' here.
