Really great and unique old district of townhouses for workers of currently abandoned mine Built in the early nineteenth century. Currently there are people living there and still preserving culture and legacy of this place. Right now it is an touristic attraction. Recommend for visit if you are nearby.

This place takes me back to Bradford, the buildings, historically linked to the mining industry here is Silesia resemble the ones you can see in the North of England. Dark bricks, terraced houses that you can see here look a lot like what you can find in Bradford. However, there seems to be a lot more more green spaces, which are well kept. We saw children playing there, well kept gardens, playgrounds. The green areas are well maintained, the streets are clean and it generally is a peaceful and quiet area, good for chilling.

This hidden treasure of Katowice was a feast for both the eyes and the mind and our amazing guide managed to satisfy both. We visited the place on May 14, 2022 and left the place later, hungry for more.

Amazing place. Maybe I was a daughter of one of miners in my previous life. I don't know why I feel so familiar, kind of happiness from every corner of this place. Looks similar but every buildings are very unique and special.

It's a place to visit and check the mining part of town, made mostly of red bricks. Really stunning to see it in the 21st century and a must for every urbanist. Could be explored in half an hour, several buses are coming from Katowice or taxi is an option too.

Very nice to visit. Take 1-2 hours is sufficient if you do not include museum. At the tourist info point there's a map with main highlights. Recommend to take a coffee on the main square, there's a very nice coffee place.

Out in nature, what is there not to like? Due to some late planning and misdirection we did not get to go in the mine and sail on the underground river so we have something to do next time we are back in the area. However the walk in the forest was well worth the trip.

Living complex for miners in red brick style with red framed windows. Still fully inhabited. I see it as a living example of "industrial centralization": living space for workers next door to were you work. A place with historic value. And a great place to go for breakfast in their central bakery! 😊👍👍👍

It still looks like in 80s :) ok maybe pubs and restaurants are tip top from XXI century. Worth to see it.

Awesome place for a walk around with plenty of opportunities for cool photos 📸 cheap accessibility from Katowice bus station.

Fascinating place to visit if you are interested in history, architecture, and housing concepts. Miners housing estate constructed with iconic red brick. Each block has been detailed slightly differently adding to the architectural merit of the area and, at one time, contained all the needs of the local residents, including shops, schools, bakery, police station, etc. a real social condenser. Simple 20 minute bus ride from the centre of Katowice and worth the visit, if you have time.

Magical place, you can feel there like in Peaky Blinders series. A must visit place in Katowice, especially for family walking or for photographers. There are few shops, restaurants, church and many charming streets to walking.

Well preserved historic all red brick district, nice for a walk but other than that not much to visit.

The place as such looks nice. However, private cars should be driven away and parked outside. Its presence totally ruins the atmosphere there

Great atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and that guy at souvenir store can really tell a story of the place.

A must place to is Katowice. A mining settlement located in the south of Katowice, located on the Industrial Monuments Route, an industrial tourist route. From January 14, 2011 recognized by ROZ as a Historical Monument. Nikiszowiec also won the fourth place in 2011 in the plebiscite of 7 New Wonders of Poland, organized by "National Geographic Traveler".

Very rare part of Poland where something has been planned wider then just one building and done in one go. Great example of industrial architecture of the XX century beginning.

Well preserved, excellent example of the Prussian coal miners housing from 19th century. There are several coron houses, school, church made from brick, with window slopes painted red, cobblestone streets.
