Museum of the History of Katowice

Tourist attraction Local history museum

😐 The museum itself is kinda small and you'd have to purchase additional ticket to attend temporary exhibition. If you lack time you better visit the Silesian Museum instead. It's not too bad, it's just not enough for the city's history museum 😪 People often mention museum, history, interesting, Katowice, floor, visit, exhibition,

Nice museum and exceed my expectations. Spent about one hour here. The only downside was trying to buy tickets, as this is a very slow process here.

Modern and extremely well-curated museum. The main exhibition is expertly translated into English. Moreover, while minute, the temporary exhibitions are given substantial care and effort, making them a brilliant part of the visit.

The exhibition consists of two floors. On the first floor, the visitor is given the opportunity to see two apartments of the city of Katowice dated in early 20th century. The one belongs to a middle class family, while the other on a wealthy one. Almost all of the items are real! A brochure is provided which describes what the visitor is seeing. This flood should take around 30 mins. On the other floor, one can find the history of Katowice. This is shown through photos, stories, videos but also interactively quizzes, which help you understand the way the city developed and is structured. Truly on of the best museums I have ever been. It is carefully designed and stands out even comparing with museums in Krakow. The visit on this floor should last 1 hour and 30 mins if you want to explore it in full depth. Overall a unique and unexpected experience! The staff is friendly and the prices at the shop are really low. Recommended!

The permanent exhibit is a nice little look to you the past, essentially shown two apartments. It makes a quick visit, around 10 minutes or so. it is great something like this does exist and the entry fee is good value Staff seemed nice and friendly. Didn’t notice if there was a temporal exhibit on at the time

Museums are very much a personal taste but this one in Katowice was exceptionally detailed for a smaller town and had information in multiple languages as well. The staff have a limited English proficiency but they try so hard and do their best to explain things to guests. Poland is about more than Warsaw and Krakow, so places like this should definitely be visited.

Shows two historical flats on one floor which to be honest I didn't find very interesting. However the top floor has the history of Katowice which I thought was very good. Not the largest museum but good size to explain the main things. Recommend if you're in the area and have 1-2 hours spare

A very intersting museum, I did have a look at the chapter: history of the city of katowice. Was worth a look! The staff was very friendly and I could get a few very nice postcards of katowice :).

I came to see this museum specially from UK/Warsaw after reading and viewing the articles on the internet about the place. The museum gives an excellent insight of the history and living conditions of this era, and immerses you with its beautifully kept living rooms as what it was then. The museum employees we're extremely helpful and kind. I would highly recommend this museum, and think that it is really under estimated.

Very interesting museum! A lot of interactive screens and nice videos next to informative text about the history of Katowice! The apartments of an upper class family and a middle class family were very interesting to see as well!

Great museum with a lot of things to see and also interactive effects. It is divided in 3 floors, the first ones are the traditional house and the third is the proper museum. You can spend here more than 2 hours without getting bored! They have a huge amount of interesting elements, militaria, maps.. Very good, I will come back soon!

This place woth a visit if you would like to see how life was some hundred years back. Museum of the History of Katowice(Muzeum Historii Katowic) is located on Szafranka Street which is very close to the centre of Katowice. There is an amazing ceramic fireplace is on the second floor. I wish I had one in my house. The museum partially tells about the mining history of the area, in Polish with English subtitles. They should think of a third language: German, due to considerable number of German visitors.

There are some really interesting lectures here, but main exhibition isn't that great. It's rather small and a little boring when guide wants to show and talk about everything

👍👍 It's a place to visit and check the mining part of town, made mostly of red bricks. Really stunning to see it in the 21st century and a must for every urbanist. Could be explored in half an hour, several buses are coming from Katowice or taxi is an option too.
