This was our first visit to The Devonshire. It was great. The staff were friendly and efficient and tended to our needs without being overbearing. The environment was upmarket yet comfortable and inviting. The food was amazing. Everything tasted so good. Portions were large but not over priced. I had a pie and it was packed with meat, not half empty like in some places. Definitely will be going back to try more of the menu.

Staff and service good, plenty of trimmings and large portions. Unfortunately the meat wasn’t great. The beef specifically was tough, which in my opinion is what you’re paying for. Extra gravy was also charged a £1 extra which is disappointing. But the puddings were nice, recommend the cornflake tart., an East Midlands favourite.

The food is great, we had the garlic bread with molten cheddar starter. The bread had a great crust yet the inside was light, and as for the cheese, just look at my reviews attached photo. For a main we had the lamb, the red wine and mint gravy was luscious. I had the the lamb done medium and it was cooked amazingly, juicy yet tender. The other Member of my party preferred their lamb well-done and they were just as satisfied as me with the lamb.

Delicious braising steak that was so tender, it fell apart. The desserts are delicious and very good portion size 😍

Well presented large meals. A rounded menu for carnivores and vegetarians (pescatarians) alike. Don't expect a large choice though. A little baffled that they served the wine in gin glasses. Service not the best. I will assume that the waitress was new as she was fluttering around too much. I would go again just to try something different on the menu. Also found it strange that there were no drinks menus.

we arrived 1:30pm on thursday after walking around the Langwith and Scarcliffe. The restaurant was full, luckly people were just leaving. i recommend to book tables in advance to avoid disappointment. the croquettes, fish and chips, garlic chicken fillet were tasty. plenty of meat in The Devonshire ploughman's board. there is no free wifi in The Devonshire.

Absolutely lovely food and service. Couldn't fault anything. The old school cornflake tart with pink custard is an absolute must for dessert!

Food & venue both excellent. We had the Filthy Swine. Absolutely gorgeous would highly recommend & will definitely be returning to try more of the menu. Hopefully be able to try a pudding if not too full 😜 We had such an amazing meal we took friends there this weekend - the food was still amazing & the staff & atmosphere was fab. We all enjoyed the food will definitely be returning soon. 💕

Friendly warm Restaurant with log burner greeting. Main course was served quickly and tasted great ( pheasant breasts ) partner had blade of beef which was also enjoyable. Sweet menu was a bit limited and Christmas pudding was a little disappointing as was cornflake tart, less cornflakes more syrup and a generous layer of jam required. All in a good meal, great service and a relaxed atmosphere

Absolutely fantastic. As we walked through the door, we were greeted by the lovely lady behind the bar. She made us feel welcome and at home whilst we waited for our table. Some of the waiting staff were very young on our visit, but they were all brilliant at their job. Nothing was too much and we were served with a smile. As for the food... oh my gosh! Delicious. We can't wait to visit again.

The signature burger and lamb shank shepherd's pie was amazing, especially the lamb. We ordered a side of onion rings that came out burnt but they took them back and didn't charge us for them. Unfortunately had no room for dessert but we'll be back 😜😋

Well what can I say, myself and my family have just returned from having Christmas Dinner. The food was of the most fantastic quality, served to the highest standard, totally beautiful. Well done to the Chef and the staff they couldn't have done more. I'm now going to lay on the sofa in my food coma. Perfect team Dev, 5* all round 👏 👌

Fantastic food as always, fresh tasty and beautifully presented. The slow cooked belly pork and the oven roasted cod with butternut squash and leek risotto was cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and attentive as always.. We did pay a little extra this time as we were celebrating my 50th birthday but well worth it. Our favourite place to eat and will be back soon.

We was staying 20 minutes away and this place kept popping up on recommendation sites. Boy did it live up to the reviews! Amazing service and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic, honestly one of the best dinners we have enjoyed. Pricing was very good for the quality and portions you got. When we are up that way again we will 100% visit again! Must visit!

Love this place ate in a couple of times had take away plenty of times, they takeaway is just as you would get if you sat in and ate. Portion sizes plentiful and cannot be faulted. Food always hot and tasty. Would recommend to anyone.

Went for Sunday roast. Beef was cooked nicely pink, vegetables were cooked nicely, good texture. Roast potatoes were dry and had no crunch. Sharing vegetables on a table seems a bit old fashioned to me. You'd think if they're only serving Sunday roasts they'd be serving fresh roast potatoes. Service staff couldn't remember who ordered what, and multiple different people asked us to pass things across the table instead of just walking the 1.5m to the other end of the table themselves. I would let these things slide, but for the price you pay here you expect more. It's a lot of money to eat here. Desert was nicely presented

Love this place , been afew times over the years for Birthday meals with the family and its freest service and good every time. Warm welcome as soon as you enter and the log fire was lit too so really warmed you up. Great food as per usual there. Its a popular place and never lets us down

Great to find somewhere never previously visited and have an excellent experience. Early Father's day treat. Friendly and attentive staff. Extensive menu and a great meal. Will definitely return a lot on the menu I'd like to try.

Great family Sunday lunch to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. Food was first class and very helpful staff. Waiting time to be served was a little long but nothing of consequence. We will be back.

Woaaah now, what a find! A beautiful pub and restaurant with beautiful surroundings. They had a separate vegan menu and everything sounded delicious. The server immediately told us what was missing on the menu (not much thankfully), and everyone that served us was extremely polite and attentive. We shared the mushrooms on sourdough for the starter which was plenty. We both had the vegan pie, potatoes, veg and gravy for the main; a huge serving! I feel like they could get away with serving less but I wasn't complaining, it was very nice. We then had the chocolate devil cake and chocolate orange tray bake slice to go and they were both delicious too. Add in two soft drinks and the bill was around £60, very good value for portion size and taste. We will be back very soon!

This was our first visit but it won't be our last. It was a small family celebration event and everything about the experience was excellent. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed the day. we couldn't fault a single thing with any of the meals, the servers were attentive and couldn't do enough for us, the decor was very appealing and there was plenty of space between each table. Overall we had a wonderful experience, so much so we're planning when our next visit will be. A big thank you to all the staff at The Devonshire.

I didn't want anything to heavy so I opted for the salmon with mushroom risotto. Salmon cooked beautifully and risotto just right. I made room for dessert, I had the raspberry cheesecake and icecream, yummy. A lovely meal.

In my opinion this is the best Gastro Pub in the district. The menu choice presents you with an immediate dilemma, it is so good. We had three courses & it was worth every penny. Slow roasted belly pork was superb. Blade of beef equally as good. It’s a very well designed establishment with some great quirky touches hanging on the walls. The staff are very attentive & excellent too. Will be visiting again soon to sample more from that great menu!
