This
park
commemorates
the
independence
of
Panama
from
Colombia
in
1903.
Hence,
November
3rd
is
Panama's
National
Day.
Dear
Americans,
this
could
very
well
be
the
slimmest
park
you'll
ever
see.
It's
situated
along
the
main
road,
only
about
one
hundred
feet
in
length.
It's
so
small
you'll
miss
it
if
you're
not
paying
attention.
The
waterfall
makes
it
easier
to
find,
but
then
it's
only
turned
on
once
in
a
while.
Here
is
some
background
info.
Panama
gained
independence
from
Spain
in
1821.
From
1821
until
1903,
it
was
part
of
Gran
Colombia
republic.
In
1903,
the
country
separated
from
Colombia
and
formed
the
Republic
of
Panama.
The
plaque
in
this
park
commemorates
the
one-hundredth
year
anniversary.
I
recommend
that
you
walk
toward
the
end
of
the
western
end
of
the
park
where
it
intersects
with
a
smaller
road
that
sits
lower.
On
your
left
will
be
the
main
road
and
on
your
right
will
be
the
first
official
street
in
the
history
of
our
town.
