This place is so full of history, culture. Entrance is 40L about $2.00. It includes access to the museum and the fortress. However there are some local guides that offer tours and provide detailed information about all the place and guide you through the entire site for 40L. The installations are well kept. Have been renovated in some parts to preserve the whole scheme. The entire place is clean and neat. Had a really nice experience learning about the history of it.

It is definitely worth hiring a tour guide. There is a lot of history behind the fort that it makes you want to learn more about the history of the fort. The tour is about 1 hour long. I would say record what the guide says, if you can, so you can go back and listen to it again once he is done with the history. You can stay there as long as you want so you can then enjoy the place.

Excellent place with great history. The most exciting is walking around the Fortaleza walls. What I do not agree is that America was „discovered” because it existed before! For that reason the descriptions in museum are deeply colonialistic.

Make sure you lay on the sunblock thick! Beautiful green grass and trees are a wonderful contrast to the brick, stone, and coral construction. Aside from the cannons and cannonballs in the fort, there is a tiny museum where you can learn about the fort and see certain items up close (swords, anchors, cannon, etc). Great place for photos, with bright blue skies, bright green grass to contrast against your subjects of choice.

Intresting enough to pay a visit. The muesum area was not so good, it was minimal, only limited text was translated from Spanish to English(Spanish is the native tongue so I can not mark down the place for that). A few intresting artifacts, but not too many, and alot were kept in a large room with a glass wall you were able to peer into and no name tags available. Personally couldn't find any information regarding the battle of San Fernando but thst may have been in Spanish! The fort itself is in very good condition considering its age. Not too much actually going on inside the fort and the spaces within ans could be better used/propped for educational purposes. The gardens are kept in pristine condition. Quite a few people selling "souveniers", or tat if I was to use a better word nearby. Mainly generic Honduras items rather than the fort itself. $4 entry because I wasnt a local. 40HNL otherwise which I would say is worth it. $4 however, maybe not. Something to do to kill 1/1.5 hours, no regrets.

Beautiful place with lots of rich history! It’s worth it to pay for a guide (L300) for a 45 or so minute tour to tell you all about it.

Great tourist place. Interesting history and a cool structure to explore. There are pretty trees and foliage and shade can be found throughout the property. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. Grab a coconut to enjoy after the walk around the fort to top off a nice experience

Built between 1756 and 1775, by Spain it was seized by the Honduran government in 1821. The fortress remains relatively intact, able to walk and see almost 99% of the property. It was 40 lempiras(~$1.62) for nationals and $4 for others. Neat history as it was a used fort that survived battles. Bathrooms were nice.

  • 4/5 Jeimmy E. 1 year ago on Google
Good place to take photos and walk, there is not much to do. Ticket for non-national visitor is $4. You can pay using lempiras or US dollar.

San Fernando's Fortress in Omoa is a captivating historical treasure, preserving a significant chapter of Honduras' colonial past. Our experience was truly exceptional thanks to an outstanding tour guide who expertly delved into the fortress's history, leaving an indelible mark on our group's memory.
