Nice beach for the north of the island. It is mostly black sand with the ever present few rocks but access to the water and the amount of room for bathing is much better here than many places. As with most of the beaches it is watched over by a lifeguard. As you sit on the beach beautiful music can be heard and the waves crashing against the beach it is a wonderful holiday feeling very relaxed as opposed to the noisy party areas of the south! This beach is very family friendly in that there are toilets, safe spaces to paddle and sunbeds with umbrellas for hire. The 'jardin' (garden) nearby is visible to the left as you sit looking at the sea and adds to the beautiful feeling of this beach. To the right as you look at the sea there is a seawall, with cannons and a sculpture on it. We saw a couple of hawkers selling big sheets for sitting on or wearing but they were friendly and respectful. Lovely place to come

Good place. Probably one of the best beaches in that area of the island. Plenty of space, nice waves, life guards on site, fairly fine sand, a place where you can grab a drink or sunbed. Really clean too. Make sure you have SPF50 and shoes(flip-flops or something) with you. You have changing rooms and showers available, however, changing rooms close at 17:00 The beach is divided into two sections. The Division is caused by the rocks that are on the beach and go into the ocean. The waves are sometimes pretty strong but that gives you that unique chance to be thrown by it, which is quite unique experience if you like swimming. In general, every beach has zones orange where you can swim, green where it's safe and red where swimming is not allowed as the currents can drag you close to the rocks. My advice is, look at the maps that are on each beach and you will quickly understand the layout.

Nice clean beach , not overcrowded . Sunbed costs 3 euro . There are toilets , showers and cafes nearby. Beautiful sunset . Just some salesman could be a bit annoying

Beautiful black beach. But swimming is very difficult because of the rocky bottom and strong waves. It is better to have special shoes. The waves are constantly knocking over the feet and dragging on the stones. I always came out of the water covered in scratches. Lifeguards, a toilet, a changing room and a restaurant on the shore are open until 16:00. There are also sunbeds and umbrellas for an additional fee

A very beautiful beach with black volcanic sand and palm trees. The waves can be huge and hard hitting, which can shake you up, but also calm for a good swim. A great time for relaxing in the sun with a beautiful view especially as the sun dissappear in the horizon.

The black sand of this beach provides a welcome alternative to the other rocky beaches of Tenerife. The big waves are fun to swim in and the conditions are well signalled with flags. At night it was cool to see people drumming together. Be carefull for the strong currents in the middle of the beach and the loose rocks in the shorebreak though

If you want a sandy beach visit the side opposite loro parque. However if you want a shingle beach visit the other side. When we first visited the rocky/shingle side we were a little disappointed. This could be due to us having a 5 year old who wanted to build sand castles and body board in the sea. However a day later we discovered the black sandy beach. Here we were able to build sand castles and take advantage of the waves. The gardens by the beach were beautiful and worth visiting even if you do not want to visit the beach. For children there is a little play area.

Beautiful beach, very clean and the best I saw in Puerto de la Cruz. The water is cold and can have strong currents, so keep an eye on the flags (a lifeguard is present). Mount Teide overlooks the beach and is amazing to see.

Fine beach for Puerto-standards. Not too touristy, and it is close to lots of bars and restaurants, and even a small supermarket (hiperdino (expect tourist prices)), but beware of many beach towel-salesmen (unless you need one, then it’s the perfect place to go)

Free beach with volcanic black sand and small rocks. Easy entrance in the water. You may need special shoes. Sand is burning your feet at noon time. There is a small playground in the area, free toilets.

Probably the best beach within the city. Small volcanic black sand is really nice to experience.

A really relaxing and beautiful beach with black volcanic sand and plam trees. I looked up places to watch the sunset. And this place did not disappoint. The sunset is gorgeous from here, never seen anything like it😍 You can sit on the beach or on the promenade. It's a nice play to chill and relax at any time of the day or night.

Beautiful black city beach with amazing views, especially during sunsets. The amount of people is quite low. However, be aware that it is quite rocky and it is hard to walk without swimming shoes. Furthermore, the waves are quite big + it is quite dip here from the beginning- this makes it hard to swim.

Very pretty beach. Lots of space, good access to water but be wary of the black sand. It gets really hot when the sun is out. Just bring slides and you’ll be good to go!

so many rocks inside and is hard to get to water when big waves. But beach is with beautiful view, warm water, bar, toilets, everything you need

Very spacious beach! Be prepared to bring your own umbrella since the beach offers limited beds and umbrellas. The sand is of volcanic origin and is black. The waves are wild since the currents are quite strong, so it is ideal for short swims and playing with the waves.

PROS: well located | clean sand & seafront | lively area CONS: parking is not easy | sea water is not always as clean as it should

Not bad for a city beach, not bad at all. Very clean, easy access to the ocean, toilets on site, plenty of space.

This Black Sand beach is part of playa jardin only ... though at some parts there are small rock pebbles that sometime makes it difficult to walk bare foot But rest of part is really nice Specially around sunset time , wonderful view of sunset Little crowded in compare to other beach of playa jardin ... but then it has much lively ambiance

Not for me. Black sand beach. Nice enough area surrounding and there is a really nice walkway.

Nice beach with a volcanic black sand. Nevertheless it's clean and comfortable, Lifeguard's spot and warning banners are in place, not sure if lifeguard is on duty during the winter season, didn't see one. Seabed is a bit rocky, i recommend the water shoes and the water can be quite wild, so take care of yourself.

Big waves when we were there, amazing show of the ocean. Probably a nice place to bath otherwise. The beach is wide, shower and toilet on spot as well as some restaurants.

One of my favourite beach. Is not only about the beach, but all surrounding it's just really gorgeous. For sure I will come back again again and again 😊
