👍👍 This is not only something special in Cartagena, but something special in Spain, telling the story of the impact of the army coup and subsequent war on local people - in one of the shelters dug out of the hillside at that time. Powerful and emotional. People often mention Cartagena, Civil, para, civil, history, room, sala, city, visit, time,

Brilliant. Brilliant to hear from the mouths of locals (children at the time) through video interview (eng subtitled). Setting is inside the only publically accessible civil war air raid shelter in Cartagena. I would recommend hiring an audio guide for €2.50 though the boards are in Spanish and English. Staff at entrance friendly. Most touching part is the short exhibit of children's drawings from the time. A must do in Cartagena

It is said that we must learn from History in order not to make the same mistakes and repeat it. Well, this kind of museums is a must in achieving this objective. Also, they have fantastic workshops for children. Absolutely recommended.

What an informative experience. All about Cartagena during the civil war, the bombings of the city by German and Italian aeroplanes and the shelters built in the hills surrounding that protected the population and the refugees from other areas. There are first hand video stories from children of the time (now elderly). I'd definitely recommend the audio guide, different languages available, as it explains much more than the exhibits. The bus turisto drops off and picks up there for Concepcion and the panoramic lift also.

Needs to offer more. Great City wish I had more time to see the other museums. An amazing period in modern history and this could have given a better show of the situation faced by the civial population. Still worth a visit.

Walking through some of its galleries and listening to the testimonies of its protagonists, you will discover the change that the war brought about in their lives and how the passive and active defense of the city was organized. The audiovisual with real images and sounds of the time will make you feel in the first person the dimension and the harshness of the war from inside a refuge. Cartagena Puerto de Culturas offers guided routes through the shelters used to hide from the bombings of the Civil War • Where? Refuge Museum of the Civil War, Cartagena • When? Monday in August, at 11.00 • Price: Price between € 5 and € 10 On November 25, 1936, the life of the inhabitants of Cartagena changed forever; The Condor Legion began to unleash panic and destruction for Spain, and the port city was the place of its presentation. More than 85 years later, the tourist brand of the three-thousand-year-old city, Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, offers every Monday in August the possibility of knowing a little more in depth how the residents of Cartagena lived these terrible events. The so-called 'four-hour bombing', which is still remembered with terror by its survivors, is the main theme on which the activity revolves, which shows on the ground the shelters used underground in Cartagena to avoid being a victim of the more than 100 bombings that the city suffered during the Civil War. The route begins at the Civil War Shelter, where attendees are offered a brief explanation of the background and role of Cartagena during the conflict. The strategic position of the city led to the attacks received by the rebellious side, and as it was the first precedent of a military attack on the civilian population, the inhabitants of Cartagena were forced to build the refuge that is now divided into two areas, one to explain the active defense and another the passive one. After these explanations, cross Calle Gisbert to reach the Military History Museum, where complementary information is offered and a model of Cartagena in the 18th century is displayed.

(Translated by Google) It is not badly explained, but what surprises very negatively is that they charge to enter. The shelters of the Civil War, in my city, Valencia, are free, because we understand that it is a part of history that is priceless and should be studied so that it does not happen again. Cartagena suffered badly during the Civil War at the hands of the Nationalists. It was badly bombed and the people of Cartagena were heroic in their attempts to survive. The museum is like a shelter that many Cartagena people used during the war and the mixture of Art Posters and TV gives you a taste of what Cartagena suffered.

Interesting museum about the civil war in Cartagena. The space is not very big although the atmosphere is achieved. The information is somewhat basic but illustrative of what happened at such a fateful moment in Spanish history that I hope will never be repeated. The box office staff was very friendly and attentive.

You take a walk through its galleries that seem very retouched on what they would have been like during the war. Everything too aseptic. The posters and videos provide little information about the historical context and have a biased tone and selection of materials.
