Medium-sized museum located in a very beautiful building that used to be a hospital. The interior design is also spectacular. There's an engaging permanent exhibition showing the history of Alicante and the whole region across ages. Low entry fee and the possibility to see a temporary exhibition on the same ticket is another plus. Be sure to check the room at the end of the corridor with a beautiful chandelier (see the photo attached). The only drawback is that only a small portion of the text is translated into English.

This museum is amazing! Telling the story of the history of Alicante, the museum exhibits represent a time span of thousands of years. The first settlements in the Alicante area were made by Iberian tribes. Since then the area has been inhabited successively by Greeks, Romans, Muslims, and Christians. The Alicante Archaeological Museum is a modern museum that utilizes a lot of audio-visual effects - which really adds to the experience! Admission was only 3 Euros a person- a bargain to be sure. All of the employees were very friendly and helpful. There is a cafe on site, and clean restrooms. It's very easy to navigate the exhibits without a lot of walking that is typically related to visiting a museum. The museum won the European Museum of the Year Award in 2004, and this is a well deserved recognition.

I wasn't expecting to find such a gem in Alicante. The Museum is really great, well made, clean, great staff, and they put a tremendous amount of efforts to make it a super experience. It is immersive and interactive, every detail is well thought, highly recommend it.

This museum never disappoints. What an incredible experience today as the Terracotta Warriors exhibition draws to an end. The staff were helpful and couldn’t have been more friendly. A striking and memorable day.

Thanks to the travelling exposition of the terracotta army I will rate it positively. Besides that it is not very much intriguing. Also, very dark in the galleries. On the last one (edat mitjana) my friend hit the mirror wall which reflected the next corridor and cut his eyebrow, so he was bleeding. From the hit he broke his eye glasses also. The only guy I found on the exit of the special exposition was not speaking english. With mostly elderly people inside the obstacles around the viewing path should be highlighted and easily noticeable. This pretty much ruined our experience. The girl at the gift shop was extremely nice.

Easy to find with an underground carpark next door. We went to see the Terracotta Army exhibition even though it was reported there were no tickets available. In fact the ticket office was open and sold us tickets without question. Well worth the visit.

Absolutely loved the museum! There is so much to see. We booked to see the terracotta warriors, and that was fabulous. I wasn't really expecting much because of the price to go in, but I was really impressed. The exhibition exceeded my expectations, wasn't crowded, and had lots of information to read. The rest of the museum is free and well worth a visit in its own right. We loved it.

(Translated by Google) The Museum is very good. There are usually traveling exhibitions in addition to the permanent one. The facilities are clean and the visit is pleasant. The kids really liked it and we enjoyed the visit. It is very visual. There are 4 "rooms" where you go up a ladder and from above you see the recreation of a ship, a cave, the excavation of a church, etc. Outside has a garden where children can play quietly as it is fenced There is a restaurant / cafeteria where it is very good, with tables outside. Affordable price and very good tapas (Original) El Museo está muy bien.

Full marks!! Super exhibition of the Persian culture, with a fantastic explanation by one of the museum's guides, Daniel. If you are in Alicante, take a tour of the museum's collection. A morning well spent.

I really enjoyed my visit. I had not seen exhibits displayed this way before. It costs only three Euros. The staff are really friendly. You can leave your bag in a locker in the ticket office. Not all the exhibits have an English explanation but it did not detract from the experience. Some exhibits have an English explanation that can be played on your phone. I loved this place.

Very interesting. The permanent exhibition is well laid out/ thought through and enhanced by video/sounds. I also visited the temp exhibition about the Etruscan and it was great! This place is definitely a must-see in Alicante… and it’s free 😊

3 euros to visit. A bargain for such an immaculate museum. Managed to catch the last few weeks of the Gladiator exhibition. I don't want to ruin the items on display so just added a few photos. Really is worth a visit. We only walked past by chance. Go.

Only seen the permanent exhibition - it is magnificent, appealing to all senses, with good information boards (Google Lens is a friend if you don't read Spanish or Catalan). Spent about 4 hours in the permanent exhibition galleries. The prehistoric gallery is absolutely fantastic with videos of practical demonstrations - experimental archaeology at its finest - and the sound enhanced the experience. Many objects from nearby Lucentum in the Roman gallery. Three rooms with practical explanation of how archaeology works in three very different contexts. The only thing I don't understand is that I had to queue for a ticket for 40 minutes (worth it) and when I finally got into the museum, the galleries were practically empty - where did everyone go? Not that I mind having the place to myself :) - not sure how buying tickets online works, I tried but I think I hit a language barrier, but if you manage, it might speed it up.

The exhibition of the Terracotta Soldiers was good and cool to see, it had some interesting other pieces and most display written information and descriptions were available in English. The QR codes with audio details, had no option for English translation however. The main museum displays about the history of Alicante, had one line of English per display, with a paragraph of description in Spanish and all the little tags naming the display items had no translations so just be aware of that if your Spanish is limited - or be ready to use your smart phone for camera/live translations, which sort of worked but made moving around the displays very slow. We arrived at after 12 noon, and tours in all languages had sold out, and we had to wait until 2pm before our ticket would allow us in. Time slots meant it wasn't crazy busy but the tour groups made areas very busy if you happen to enter a section the same time as them!

A good museum to learn about the history of Alicante, however it'd be better if they could provide English explanations as well, not just a sentence. Spanish and Valencian explanations and descriptions available only. Half of the museum is currently under renovation (December 2019). Ticket costs €3. 50% ticket discount with valid student ID card.

Very in depth museum with various rooms taking you through each period. Begins in pre history and sends in the restoration period. Was very easy to find translations into English or ask staff who spoke English. Do not touch anything though as they don't put everything behind glass but it is still real. Found that out the hard way. There is also a nice cafe outside the museum for food and drink.

Very well designed museum, easy to navigate with very interesting exhibitions. It is true that a lot of the text isn't in English but if you understand some Spanish you can get by and I believe there is also audio in English but I didn't use that. The staff were nice and helpful. The only odd thing is that I was asked for my ticket at two different points despite the whole thing being free, this might have been because of Covid though.

We went to the musem in the morning and there weren't many people yet. Had a wonderful time, whoever designed this experience really knew what they were doing. Loved the colours, the projections and overall atmosphere. Tickets are purchased in a different building than the musem and there is also a restaurant and gift shop.

It was a great day out. There are great exhibits. Their Chinese section is very well translated. Great for english speakers. The older parts of the Museum are not translated so bring Google Translate with you. Worth a visit. The only negative and the reason two stars are removed are because the staff specifically in the onsite cafe were the most miserable and rude people I’ve dealt with. The staff in the museum itself were brilliant. Worth a visit. Maybe go somewhere else rather than the onsite cafe

Very many interesting objects, a very broad collection. Very impressive! Unfortunately not very much written information in English, so if you don’t like google translate then this might not be that interesting. Although very much information in Spanish and Catalan. If you want a guided tour, you should book tickets in advance.

(Translated by Google) One of the best provincial archeology museums I have ever visited. The permanent rooms of the museum (prehistory, the Iberians, the Romans, the Middle Ages and the modern room) are very well decorated with a perfect decoration, music and videos that make you immerse yourself in an unforgettable experience. Then we have the didactic rooms, where it is shown how archaeologists carry out their work in the three different rooms, the underwater room with the wreck, the room with a simulation of a cave and another room with the simulation of building remains. They also usually have temporary exhibitions that often change from time to time. The great thing about this museum is that the permanent rooms are fully accessible to everyone and there are even replica pieces of other real ones made especially for people with visual disabilities to touch them. It is a very interesting place to go with children and to learn live about the history of the province in which they reside. If you liked my review, give me a like, it's free and it doesn't hurt hahaha. I also have a channel on YouTube - it's called "Don't stop dreaming-fly fly" in case you want to subscribe, I post videos daily.

If you want to know more about history and culture and civilization in Alicante Spain, you have to go to this amazing museum. It takes about two hours time.

Really loved the ambiente. They put a lot of thoughts in how to present the whole concept. I enjoyed it a lot! Employees very friendly and helpful!

Nice museum, but mostly without information in EN. If there is any it's usually one sentence vs 2-3 paragraphs in Spanish.

Very nice museum. The temporary exhibition of Etruscan antiquities very interesting

Generally I love museums but this one was neither particularly interesting nor educational. Alicante has some great historic attractions, visit any of those instead.

ABSOLUTELY an amazing museum. If you enjoy Gladiators be certain to visit. Also excellent history of Alicante, Spain 🇪🇸

Really nice museum, lots of artifacts and recreations of artifacts. A little light on English descriptions which may put some people off, but it didn't bother us. There was a great exhibition on the Etruscans when we visited.

Didn't really enjoy this much I'm afraid. The Gladiator exhibition was mildly interesting, if very crowded, but the rest of the exhibits just weren't interesting, and had minimal English language labels.

Fabulous building. Took us all morning to see the Gladiators exhibition so didn't see much of rest of it. Exhibition was excellent. Learned more about Coliseum than did in Rome! Whole thing was really well done and obviously a huge undertaking. Only comment about rest of museum was lack of info in English. Same problem as at the Castle. My Spanish not quite up to so much info!

A very nicely laid out museum, spanning Spanish history from the prehistoric through to the industrial era. However what mars this otherwise excellent museum is the obvious silence over the most important periods of Spanish hostory: the conquistador era and the later franko fascist era. Both these important eras are skipped over, and its pretty clear why. I still recommend visiting, but it's a qualified recommendation.

Well maintained and clean looking museum. Especially enjoyed the pop up Gladiator theme! Really interesting! We got there by touribus but it is easy to access by walk as it is in the middle of the city. Also it is very cheap, 3€ for adults. Definitely worth a stop

Interactive Archaeological Museum, which rather has a narrative than collection of items. There's a changing exhibition (Gladiators at the time of our visit) and permanent exhibitions ranked by time and location. It might be a little bit scary for very sensitive, smaller children.

Visited QIN y HAN exhibition here today. It will be here all 2023 and is a perfect choice for a fine few hours spent looking back into history. Not much parking nearby but it is situated just a 3 minute walk from the nearby tram station. Very popular and you will need to book tickets beforehand but its not difficult online and the cost is between 5 and 8 euros for translated guide in English. Will easily keep you occupied for one hour within the chinese exhibits and you can take your own photographs without flash. There is heavy security in place because only a small number of warriors are allowed out of china at one time. Spain are the custodians of this fine show and everything is perfect. Find the warrior with the missing thumb? You will need to google that story to discover why these items are watched very carefully here in Spain. You can continue within the museum to see history of Allicante and spain over the last several thousand years. An extra bonus we weren't expecting. In the courtyard of the museum you will find a wonderful cafe restaurant sat in the grounds and cooled by shades and trees. You will get a fine salad and glass of wine here after your visit. Suggest you ask them to reserve you a nice table for your party for when you come out.

Visited museum to see Terracotta Warriors display. Well worth the visit. History of the Qin and Han Dynasties all laid out to read, excellent day out.

Fabulous exhibition of the terracotta army. The museum's regular exhibits are excellent and the building is very impressive, especially the old chapel

The museum depicts the history of Alicante and Valencia from the prehistoric times until the end of the xix century. There are descriptions detailing given aspects of life in the time period. Sadly the descriptions are badly designed and the English version is very lacking. It consists of Google translated Spanish text. The labels are not in English.

Attended the special Yin Dynasty exhibition in this splendid museum. The first time I had seen the Terracotta soldiers in many years. Well worth a visit.

A great chance to see some of the terracotta warriors up close while they are on loan to the museum. A great experience and an English speaking guide ensure you get the most from the day. A must see while you can.

Visited to see the Terracotta Warriors exhibition. Excellent guided tour with very good spoken English. Before our timed tour slot we looked around the other permanent exhibits covering Spain from prehistoric time to the late 20th century. A very interesting day out.

Fabulous day seeing the Terracotta Warriors Exhibition at the Marq. The rest of the Museum was equally interesting. Lovely cafe in the grounds, not expensive. Great day out.

We went specifically for the terracotta warriors exhibit. We were able to book an English speaking tour for one hour. The guide did a decent job. The exhibit had incredibly strict security and you couldn't navigate the exhibition at your own pace without a guide. As someone with a disability, I found this hard. I needed a seat which wasn't available until the end and prolonged standing was difficult. I don't really understand why you had to be with a guide all the time considering there were staff in each room to ensure all was well. The warriors themselves were amazing, great info on each exhibit piece in multiple languages.

We went on a Friday evening when the museum had free entry. We waited for 25 minutes to enter. You can explore the whole museum within 30 minutes, there's not much to see there. This time they had exhibition about Chinese history. It was not my cup of tea.

Great day out and the museum is very well laid out. We went for the Chinese Terracotta Warrior exhibition. That was also good but we expected more... Maybe a 3d visual showing the warriors as found... Travel wise we went on the tram...

Visit to see the terracotta army exhibition. Very well laid out with the figures in glass display so you could walk all the way around them and see the amazing detail from every angle. Just spectacular.

I had always wanted to go to China to see the Terracotta Army, but we saw a small section of the originals at Alicante, absolutely brilliant.

Great museum. Lots of information but realistic to do in a day. The audio guides you can scan with a QR code and listen to on your phone were a nice touch. Very reasonable price as well.

A marvellous day out to visit the Terracotta Army. A well laid out museum in the heart of the city. Easy to get to and find your way around. Most of the exhibits are multi-lingual which makes it really accessible. We went mainly for the Terracotta Army exhibit but was really surprised to find a huge range of exhibits from the region ranging from ancient to modern history. Throughly recommended!

A very good display of the terracotta army and artifacts from the Qin dynasty. All the displays had English translations and tours in English are available. It was quite busy with school trips but just takes a little longer. Well worth it if you are in Alicante.
