It is a very modern museum, with a minimalist design. The materials on display are very interesting. The problem is that the light is poor, the information written on glass is sometimes illegible and the mineral display does not allow you to see the minerals in the upper rows and lacks labeling, so you have to go to the information panel, black and with letters. tiny, and consult each mineral by rows and subrows. 9 in total, with 200 pieces. Aesthetics does not have to be at odds with didactics.

Beautiful museum, very educational, the facilities are unbeatable, great for weekends, children will love it, they can see many minerals and model miniatures, they have very detailed explanatory areas, the 10 videos look and sound great. We had a very pleasant time, they have informative maps and bathrooms. The very nice girls in charge have informed us of everything we needed.

The Museum is very well preserved with very clean facilities. In the first video the volume was set low but we understood the Explanation perfectly. The room where the other mining pieces were found is very well done with real pieces from the time, with clear and concise explanations, the area of spectacular minerals. We left the museum very happy.

Very interesting museum, visiting a mine. It's highly recomended to book a tour (by phine). The tour starts at 12:00, but You should be in an office at 11:45, to proceed with a safety lecture. Take a water with You, the excurtion lasts for a hour and a half, there's no place to buy smth in a mine. WC situated near the exit of a mine. English guided tours only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Surprisingly professional museum in the centre of La Unión, that provides a realistic flavour of the very difficult life of the miners down through the ages. From Roman times to 1991. Beautifully presented exhibits in a minimalistic setting, the building's design and lecture hall are a credit to the town. The main part of the museum is appropriately underground. With a number of videos describing the life of the miners and one about the miners wives. The last part of the tour details the heinous ecological crimes committed in the name of commerce at nearby Portman Bay. With an excellent collection of minerals and artifacts this is well worth a visit. The exhibits are presented with information in Spanish and English throughout and the videos have English subtitles. There was mention of an entrance charge but that was not enforced. Sadly, we were the only visitors the whole hour that we were there on a Tuesday morning. We'll worth a detour as you can see from the photos. It will be even better when the old mine opens up again up the hill. N.b. Just by the way there is an excellent old fashioned and very reasonable cobbler literally just up the road. He heeled some boots and mended a leather bag all in less than an hour and charged €12. Highly recommended. 😁

A small museum. This also doubled up as the information centre. The lady spoke some English. We were the only visitors that day. There is wifi and a free audio guide in a number of languages, including English. Video's had English translation and was very interesting. We also ventured to Portman to see what was left from the 1990's. The whole area was fascinating.

(Translated by Google) This museum, currently in the historic City Hall building, allows a quick and double visit (because it includes entry to the Cante de las Minas), with pieces and contents that are accessible and easy to interpret without a guide, due to its orderly musealization, despite of the numerous and diverse information, very complete. It is important to dedicate between 40 minutes and an hour, minimum. The icing on the cake will come with the spectacular and unique mining winch, which will occupy the main hall. Pompeyo Street, Trovero Cantares and Santa Isabel have changed addresses, which would be appropriate to ratify with the City Council and update the maps.
