👍👍 It is incredible that something so extremely wonderful is little known. It is a wonderful work and if they explain it to you on top of it, it makes the experience total. We were visiting it with the Alarkum company and its guide Jesús makes the explanations of these paintings, as well as everything... People often mention work, paintings, Alarc, church, great, Mateo,

(Translated by Google) We really liked being able to enjoy the paintings and the free stay in a church. The sound is very curious and you feel good energy in the place. You can walk around the interior, go up to the altar and take photos of everything.

(Translated by Google) The pictorial value of the murals does not matter. It doesn't matter if they are in a great desecrated church. It doesn't matter if you're in a beautiful medieval town. It is not acceptable to pay €3 and there is no way to understand it if you do not go with a guided tour. The triptych that they deliver is a pamphlet that if they send it to you by mail you may want to visit it, but once there it is no more self-promotion, trying to justify itself. It would be much simpler and more didactic, to deliver the same triptych but trying to make the paintings understood, the reason for the bad lighting, the artist's motivations, etc. In short, the murals are great, but without explanation they are just stains on the wall. Surely there are many connoisseurs who simply by looking at them are able to interpret the history of humanity on those walls, but for an ignorant person like me they are just paintings. In addition, the people at the entrance left their sympathy at home that day.

(Translated by Google) At first it was overwhelming, and finally it turned out to be fascinating. Full of symbols that we would not have been able to understand without the help of Jesus (Alarkum), who explained the mural to us in detail, little by little. I never imagined seeing something like this in a church and it was shocking, without a doubt. A real treat for the eyes. I will not forget that UNESCO sponsored work of art.

Close on Sunday may be I was late for the service or something. So all the door was close and I was unable to get in. Nothing I can do but just to see the out side only. The inside is spectacular though so may be next time.

Catholic temple built in the 16th century in Renaissance style, built on the remains of a previous church. It is built of ashlar and masonry and consists of a single rectangular nave covered by a barrel vault, and has attached at its feet a rectangular tower crowned by an 18th century belfry. Its interior currently houses the Alarcón Mural Painting Art Center, with paintings made on the walls of the church by Jesús Mateo in the 20th century.

A true work of art, a mural painting with a spectacular setting, the Church of San Juan. Without a doubt the best tourist attraction in Alarcón and all of Cuenca. His paintings and what they mean are impressive. A UNESCO work for its dimensions and grandeur. The artist Jesús Mateo realized his dream of this mural for a decade.

Wow!!! At first I entered a little reluctant because I didn't know what I could find, but once inside everything changed. We went with a guide who told us the whole story of that great painting and....., we were amazed, a great story to know, there you can see that whoever follows it gets it.

Simply impressive. Mandatory stop in Alarcón, where you can get lost and immerse yourself in the spectacular work of art of this painter. I would have stayed 24 hours watching each stroke. Highly recommended, do it with the Alarkum guided tour (official guided tour company of the town), very small groups of people and in which they explain in detail the meaning of the work of art, as well as the reason for each of the strokes. .

Like any work of art, "taste" is subjective. But the mere fact that the mural is a church AMAZES and invites you to observe it with the greatest silence and contemplation possible. The modern counterpoint to a medieval town.

(Translated by Google) It is essential to do them with the guided tour of Alarcon in order to understand everything it represents. Only then can they be fully appreciated and we realize the immense work that the author has done. (Translated by Google) It is essential to see it with the guided tour of Alarcón. Since they help you to interpret the work. If you see it on your own .. it may seem like a joke as I have read in other colleagues .. but if they guide you .. you realize that it is a great work of art and there is a lot of work behind this great work. ..

(Translated by Google) The art, peculiar. But I don't give it more points because we were told that the artist would come, and he stood us up (We were a relatively large group). That is NOT done. (Original) El arte, peculiar.
