Had a D string put on my bow. It took about 5 minutes, and I was only charged $5.00. Excellent service and very knowledgeable people. This is the place to go for all your outdoor needs.

Great store, massive diversity in merchandise from what I expected with the size of Ames. I never write reviews but Ames JAX is worthy of 5 star! I shopped for shoes and outdoor gear. Every staff member I talked to was so helpful, and I learned best shoe sizing, brand recommendations, shoe care, and type of shoe based on my needs. I wanted to take time to think about purchasing a pair of hiking boots after trying several types on and was told they hold your pairs you tried on for up to 2 days so you don’t need to worry someone will snag your pair (even a clearance item) before you take time to think about it. I ended up coming back the next day to buy the pair I wanted. Will definitely be back and they have my full recommendation for everything outdoors.

This store is hidden treasure. I have lived in Ames for more than 10 years and it was first time to step into the store after knowing they sponsored the climbing competition at ISU. Found two fabulous climbing shoes for my 7 years old and my 4 years old. The person who helped me was very knowledgeable and very patient. The price is very competitive. I would highly recommend this store to everyone in town. Great selection and great service!!!!!! We need to support this fabulous local store. Told my husband that I am going to buy stuff from here from now on for my outdoor and climbing needs!!!!
