We were recommended to go here by a guide at a national monument nearby. I'm glad she told us about it. We didn't know much about Daniel Boone, but we learned a lot about not only him and his family but also the time period. They have a village there that would be cool to return for one of the outdoor events.

The grounds were more than we expected. Several buildings will period people telling you what the building was for and their roll. The church was very cool and Nathaniel Boone's home where Daniel lived his final year was very nice. There was about a dozen buildings to see and tour. If you're into history, this is a must.

The golf course itself is very nice. The pace of play and employee lack of competence is painful. Consistently allow groups of 5 and 6 and then put twosomes behind them. Rounds with two people can easily take more than 5 hours. Employees and usually rather rude to me as well for being a repeat paying customer since it's close to me.

This was a really beautiful place. We also found the optional tour was well worth the price. Dennis treated us like VIPs. He was VERY knowledgeable and quite personal. This is a place definitely worth visiting!

I visited the Historic Daniel Boone Home at it turned out to be an extremely entertaining experience. The tour was thorough and extremely informative. The docents are very informative and able to answer the vast majority of my questions.

Literally the worst course ever... I am on the Warrenton Golf Team and when I played there I was traumatized by the horrific fairways and greens. Fatty RIP gentlemen. Get it together...

The staff here was very hateful and very mean. Especially the female that was out running with the golf course. Very very unprofessional. I'm a 60 some-odd year old man with cancer I paid $44 to play 18 holes of golf and was harassed and aggravated from the whole 12 to hold 13 by your staff. I was told that they needed my cart because they have a tournament. They overbooked RT times. Not my problem. I paid good money to play at a good golf course. Did not get to finish the game or did not get to enjoy the game because of the staff. I don't play as fast as I used to but we was only in the game 2 hours and on hole 12. I don't think we were doing too bad. I'm sorry if I wasn't fast enough but I do have cancer and my days not always the greatest. Before once I had a halfway decent day thought I could play golf. Not true the staff here is very hateful and very mean. I think and feel that I was taken advantage of with the $44 fees and was not allowed to finish the game. Very poorly managed

We played there this past weekend and the course condition for what you pay to play there was very poor. I would expect it from lesser courses but not Bear Creek. Sand traps that had little sand in them, basically hitting off dirt in the ones i landed in. There were quite a few of the greens that had lots of sand on them. So much sand that when the ball hit the green from a chip shot sand plashed up on every bounce. Those greens played twice as slow as the other greens. Lots of weeds around many of the greens and tee boxes that were not well kept. I sent a message to Bear Creek themselves to inform them of how disappointed that not only we were but the twosome we were paired with were as well. I got a response that while courteous told me in so many words how wrong I was and to give them another chance. Basically, come out and spend your money here again with no guarantee the issues we had with the conditions of the course will be fixed. I have played heavier used public courses this year like St. Peters that are in much better shape than Bear Creek that cost less to play at. I have played Bear Creek in the past and it was always in great shape so I was highly disappointed in how poor of shape the course is currently in. The staff themselves are very friendly and I have zero complaints about any of them. I hate writing poor reviews but I would spend your money elsewhere.

This place was amazing and even though we got there late in the day, the tour guide let us look inside the buildings that were open and gave us so much valuable information. We enjoyed it so much.

Went to a wedding yesterday (Sunday Jan. 15 2023) at the venue near the historic Daniel Boone home. It was gorgeous. The houses were beautiful and so was the little white chapel. I live in the city and don’t get go out in nature often, but this was really nice. It was quiet and green. Lots of birds in the trees too!

Great tour with lots of interesting facts. A bit of a drive from Hermann where we were staying but well worth it. If you like history and want to learn more about Daniel Boone and his family, don't skip this tour!

Really nice place. Perfectly maintained grounds and building. This September is the 200th anniversary of his passing. I am sure they will have some interesting events. I highly recommend the drive off of the interstate. It is very pretty scenery and the destination is worth it!

My homegirl and I went to visit this museum because she researched her genealogy background and found out that she's related to Daniel Boone -this was a must-see for her. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. But I have to give a special shout out to Drew. He worked in the gift shop. He had the best customer service! Super friendly and went above and beyond. The staff was great, but I really want to praise Drew!

Daniel Boone's last home and a small village of rescued/preserved buildings. On 8/2020 you had to pay for the tour to enter Daniel Boone's home. Due to covid only 2 of the village buildings were open. It was a nice day.

We had a great time at the Daniel Boone Home after stumbling into it by accident. The small crowd was very well managed for social distancing with a tour that has been modified for health concerns. Now, a live interactive discussion is held at the beginning of the tour, followed by very small group self-guided walking tours of the house. ($8 for adults) There are several other buildings on the grounds, including a lovely chapel and a sawmill. Our walk around the grounds was very peaceful and relaxing. Well worth the stop and price of admission. They also have a banquet facility for weddings.

I golfed here with my father and grandfather and had a wonderful time. I walked into the clubhouse and I was immediately greeted by a super friendly staff who helped me find the merchandise that I needed. The course was in incredible condition, and the pace of play was great. We stayed after to have a bite to eat and, the food was amazing.

Play Bear Creek every week and the course is in great shape. Gnats are gone but the well supplied Pro Shop has spray if needed. Pro Shop Staff (Bob)is excellent and provides a great service in running our Senior and Couples Leagues. Dining Room and Kitchen provides a great selection at reasonable prices and they’re always friendly. I enjoy the weekly News Letter and the Website. General Manager is easily accessible and responsive to any issues I’ve had. I’ll continue to be a Grizzly supporter.. Pete

Friendly staff and a fun, challenging public course. Don't expect Pebble Beach, but it's not a goat track like you'll find at most public courses. Greens are typically in good shape. There are also a lot of elevated tee boxes, which makes for a fun course to hit the driver.

For some reason I'd avoided playing this course over the years. I'm not sure quite why, really, though I don't typically go for courses in housing developments. But the usual courses have been feeling stale lately, so I figured I'd finally give Bear Creek a try today for the first time. What I discovered was one of the most diverse and playable public courses in the St. Louis area. Gary Kern's designs are always fun, yes, but the routing here is one of his best. There are some great risk/reward holes, a variety of terrain, and not a single weak hole on the golf course. Despite my fears, the houses weren't at all obtrusive to the hole corridors. I was shocked and felt a little bit guilty that I'd had such an unwarranted negative impression of this layout. It's simply fantastic from start to finish. Conditions were adequate but not great from tee to green, although they get the benefit of the doubt after this wet spring. The greens rolled well at slightly above average speed. I'll definitely be back to play here again.

I do not recommend playing here. I play a lot of golf and have given bear creek a lot of business over the past few years. I have never experienced a course with such a slow pace of play. Prepare for a 5 hour round of golf regardless of the amount of players in your group. They allow far too many tee times to be booked very close together. You can guarantee to wait 5-10 minutes before each shot, and the only chance that play opens up is if enough people get discouraged and quit after 9 holes (I’ve done this multiple times here). It once took me and a friend an hour and 30 minutes to play the first 4 holes. I have experienced extremely slow play probably the last 10 times I’ve played here. I don’t know why I keep making the mistake of hoping it will be better the next time. It never is. I do not plan on playing here again and it upsets me because I do actually like the course. It is just poorly managed to say the least.

Not a friendly course for juniors. Many courses around the area welcome juniors to their course and are excited to see them play. Bear Creek does not, and almost seems like they discourage them to be around. My 14 year old son was told he could not put on the practice green without a paid receipt, this among other similar issues. He used to always go to the driving range and the practice green but does not want to now. It was convenient since we live in the subdivision, but it’s worth it to drive to the other golf course in Wentzville so he keeps playing.

I always love coming out to this little plot of history...well kempt grounds, incredibly friendly staff, always met with a smile when I go snag my self guide tour map from the gift shop. It's both a nice, easy, scenic excercise that anyone both old and young could enjoy and a great way to learn about some more specific aspects of the pioneer times and how they incorporated themselves into the area. Much recommend the stop...the drive down 94 to get there is beautiful just in itself.

i wasn't sure what i was in for but i was told by other historical place i visited to check out this site. when i pull up i was getting excited to see so many old builds. the boone house from the back and first floor seem to be basic. i was surprised to see that the rest of the house was a little more elegant. figure the time frame and were it was built. a house i wouldn't mind living today. the grounds were well loved and the employees were very nice and friendly. i loved the cleaning girl the best. she a Yankees fan!!!! i did buy a few things from the gift shop but i couldn't believe i payed $12 for a small can of tea. but i figure its for the site. it was maple syrup day and some of the employees were dress to the period. which was nice to see the in custom and making the syrup. they did give out free pancakes but i didn't have any. i was really surprise to see that many people on a chilly February day but maple syrup got them there. lol. all in all a fantastic site. i would but this on a must see list.

Totally random stop (for me). I decided to take the back road from MN to FL, and happened upon this important place from an important person in American history. While I only had about 30 min to look around, I was impressed with the grounds and the preservation of the buildings. I hope to return and take a tour. Gift shop was simple, but staffed with good folks.

We picked a great day to visit. As a history buff, walking through and amongst the old homes and buildings was like walking back in time. Volunteers were even on hand dressed in period clothes to offer extra insight. The guided tour of the main house where the Boone's lived was especially interesting since we get a preset idea of how they lived in the history books. The guide we had was very helpful. Also nice to see precautions in place for COVID.

Played there twice... Both times : Slow play starts on hole 2, waited about 10 minutes to tee off each hole. Got better around hole 13. Told Marshall patrolling course, both times he seemed frustrated. Course overall is in great shape Staff is friendly A couple of the greens were aerated and loaded with sand, ball needed off road tires. Will I play again, only really early

  • 1/5 Sean T. 3 years ago on Google
The course was in ok shape. But the fact that it took 3 hours and 15 min to play 9 without the Marshall or any staff actually intervening (and that’s with several groups calling it quits) is nuts. The chaos and high alcohol prices were enough to turn us away and never come back.

  • 3/5 Dale H. 3 years ago on Google
Things were going great during the two man senior scramble until we came to hole #1. We had four holes to complete the scramble. When all of a sudden open play groups started showing up at the first tee. One of our players ran them off as to not have them in the middle of our groups slowing down play. Management probably needs to make an adjustment on the days they have scrambles as to not interfere with play and, or, cause person to person altercations.

  • 1/5 Brett S. 3 years ago on Google
The last three times I’ve been out there it has taking me over three hours to play nine holes because they are so backed up. They book their tee times way too close together and don’t do a good job of managing pace of play. There is a lot of disorganization. And the guy that was the starter was very rude.

  • 5/5 Curtis O. 3 years ago on Google
Very nice coarse other than the golfers not taking care of the greens

Do not golf here on the weekend. 5+ hours for a round and we had a tee time of 7:12. They stuff as many people as they can even if it means a bad experience. I mentioned how slow it was and a worker said “that’s bear creek on a weekend”.

Many of the greens were like putting on the fringe, bunkers in terrible shape and several of the tee boxes are in really bad shape. The worst course I've played in several years.

  • 5/5 Richard M. 4 years ago on Google

Pretty tough course, at least for me. Narrow off the tee box and more water than I care to see but what lowers the rating is the sand traps. Nearly all of them were either muddy or had 3” of water in them. Never seen sand traps that bad, and I’ve played a few bad courses.

  • 3/5 Matt E. 7 years ago on Google
Clubhouse staff were friendly and efficient. Grounds keepers were oblivious. They never stopped working, even when taking a shot withing 10 feet of their mowing and bunker work. For early season, the course was in decent shape. Fairways have come in nicely. Greens we're smooth but slow for how tightly they were mowed. Silver tee boxes still need some time to come in, most were on the bare side or heavily spotted, gold tees we're in beautiful shape. Every bunker our group was in was unplayable, either hard packed or a dusting of "sand" on top. For a weekday tee time before 10am, the pace of play on the front 9 was ridiculous, 3.25+ hours. Three groups in front of us gave up at the turn and we never caught another group on the back 9. I'll give Bear Creek a try later in the season, but as the rates go up, the value of the round will need to be a lot higher.

  • 5/5 Brent E. 7 years ago on Google
Didn't have the opportunity to play Bear Creek last year, but did have the opportunity recently. Found the course to be in really good condition for this time of year. The biggest upgrade since last time I was there was the care of the sand traps - which were in very good condition. The greens are in great condition but running a little slow because of the amount of rain we have had which isn't unexpected. Fairways have greened up nicely and are well manicured. My overall impression - I liked the course a couple years ago when I played it several times, and found it to be improved since when I last visited. Bear Creek is a good value, nice course and amenities and a friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff. I will be back as soon as I have the time to do so.

We attended the Daniel Boone maple syrup festival and enjoyed touring the grounds and all the buildings. It's definitely worth the trip. Go during an event so all the buildings are open for waiting through.

The homeschool day was so well done! The kids (8, 10, 11) were kept busy for the hours and learned a lot. We enjoyed the variety of activities available and appreciated the patience of the educators.

An inexpensive and educational outing, fun for the whole family! Love seeing all of the outfits from the time and learning about life back then.
