The line here is insane, make reservations if you are able to! We had a mix of dumplings and noodles and ended with sweet dumplings, which were a surprise hit for me! Pretty much everything was delicious, fresh and served piping hot. Will definitely be returning!

Service was good. Waiters were very attentive. Helpers where always around to clear dirty dishes and fill the waters/drinks. Lots of employees working which is a good thing. Food was decent, 7 out of 10 in my opinion.

My wife and I had taken a trip to Hawaii to visit our oldest daughter who lived there. We stayed at Waikiki Beach ⛱️ Resort, we had gone to the Nodded House across the street from where we stayed there.. This place was awesome and I am not a fan of soups, but this place tops it. The best experience ever Thank you for everything, the Noodle Soup 🍜 was Amazing.

There's usually a wait so pack your patience because it'll be worth it. Great options and family style dinning so be adventurous and you'll be glad you did. I enjoyed everything we had especially the shrimp and pork dumplings, the soup and spare ribs were amazing! The fried rice, shrimp and pork chop, OMG.DELICIOUS! I highly recommend this experience.

Delicious dumplings. We made reservations and had to wait about 20 minutes before we were seated. We went on a weekday. Was impressed with the professionalism of all the wait staff. They were all professional, friendly and knew their menu very well. Kudos to management on an obviously great training program. Would definitely return when I’m in town again.

An upscale dumpling spot at the mall. There is usually a long wait here - especially during lunch. Their way of paging guests on wait list was a bit convoluted and confusing. Food is delicious, though. Dumplings are made in a glass showcase and is kind of a centerpiece of this restaurant. Portions are pretty small so I would recommend ordering multiple dumplings.

So good! If you don’t have a reservation and don’t want to wait toooo long, come on a weekday right when it opens and put your name down. I went on a Friday morning and the wait was maybe 30-45 minutes. They will text you when your table is about ready, so you can do some shopping while you wait. The food came out pretty quickly and hot! Everything as delicious and service was sooo great. Everyone was super nice and helpful.

It was quite an experience to wait in a very long line but it was all worth it! if the bar is available, take it instead of waiting for a table if you dont have a reservation. The portion of the food is worth the price. They will make food as you order them so all the dishes are so fresh and delicious! my favourite is the sweet and sour ribs, spicy shrimp and pork dumplings :)

I want to say this is my favorite restaurant in SoCal. The food is always delicious, the drinks are too good, and the experience is so unique and fun. You can reservations which is very convenient and they work hard to help every customer that comes. All of the staff I have met have been so engaging and nice. I don't live in California anymore but every time I go back this is the first place I make reservations for. I highly recommend all the food but especially the dumplings.

Din Tai Fung is iconic and lives up to its reputation. They have the best Chinese food around and you really can’t go wrong with their menu. The cucumber salad is a must to start and their peanut noodles are an overlooked triumph, but the rest of their menu is just as solid. Look for what you feel like having on the day and it WILL be good. The only part that isn’t stellar is their desserts, but that is fine because you can find plenty of dessert in the mall if you really want it. The wait times get pretty long so showing up when they open is recommended.

The wait is SO worth it!! High quality food with exceptional service. Just writing this review is creating a raging craving! I was fortunate to go with friends that ordered for the table and everything was excellent. Going back in two weeks 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I love it here! Definetely wortj the hype and the wait, you have to go there with 30 minutes in advance. The food is delicious and the service is very fast. Love the spicy dumplings, fried rice with shrimp, pork chop and also cucumber salad and string beans with garlic. I recommend to order everything to share so you can try a lot of things from the menu

I have waited to go to an American Din Tai Fung since I went to one of the originals in Taiwan in 2017. At the time, they only had one or two US locations. Finally, I made it to this location and it was well worth the wait! Make reservations if you can, if not, put your name in and walk around the mall. There will be a wait. The food is outstanding and just as good as I remembered it from the Asian locations! They are famous for their pork soup dumplings— a must have! But, you can’t really go wrong with anything on their menu. Save your appetite for all the dumplings— they are fresh and delicious. Enjoy!

Been to multiple Din Tai Fung’s and this one has been amazing as well. There was about a 30 minute wait to seat, but once in the service was great and food great as well. Definitely will be coming back to this location as everything tasted great and staff was wonderful as well. Din Tai Fung never disappoints and will come back again!

A Taiwanese dumpling branch store at South Coast Plaza. Not much crowd as it was just opened in the morning and was seated in 2 minutes and enjoyed several dishes of our favorites for a long time. It took some time for them to bring all the food we ordered, so we had to start when we got first few dishes. The food was amazing and it tasted better as we didn't have to wait for a long time.

Great Taiwanese spot! Loved the black truffle and kurobota pork dumplings! The pork sauce noodles were outstanding too. Be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation though. The wait time for walk ins was 1.5 hours on a random Wednesday night.

The food was excellent, I had the braised beef noodles, the xiaolongbao and the steamed pork Buns; all of them were fantastic. Service was alright as staff was friendly and offered to help make the dipping sauce, however they were extremely busy so its really hard getting their attention in the first place. To add to that point, there is no reservation by phone, and you can only be put on the wait list in person so it's more first come first serve. Atmosphere was pretty good but if you sit near the entrance it's right in the mall so it can get a little loud and rowdy.

I rarely give any place a 5 star rating, but this one is well deserved. As expected, the soup dumplings are amazing, but their desserts make the meal! You have to try one of the chocolate buns!

This place was exceptional. I completely understand the long lines for this place, because everything I tried was delicious. The staff were also incredibly helpful and showed me making the sauce and traditional way to eat dumplings. I just wish I had gone with someone else to be able to try more things.

Capital Dim Sum is better imo. This place is really good too, but people go here mostly because they know the name and it’s hip. Pros: Great food Friendly staff Fun to watch them make food Good menu options Authentic cuisine Clean bathrooms Cons: Long line sometimes

Din Tai Fung is a popular Taiwanese restaurant chain known for its delicious dumplings and other Chinese dishes. The South Coast Plaza location is one of the busiest and most popular locations, serving up its signature dishes to hungry patrons throughout the day. The restaurant is known for its efficient service and clean, modern decor. The open kitchen allows diners to watch as their food is prepared, adding to the overall dining experience. The menu features a variety of dumplings, including pork, chicken, and vegetable options, as well as noodle dishes, soups, and vegetable sides. The restaurant also serves beer and wine, making it a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner with friends. While the restaurant can get quite busy, especially during peak hours, the staff is well-trained and manages to keep the flow of diners moving smoothly. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the overall dining experience. Overall, Din Tai Fung in South Coast Plaza is highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious Chinese cuisine in a modern and welcoming atmosphere.

Such a nice location. Spicy wontons and XLB’s are the best of course but everything we ordered was really tasty! Love that there’s also a good variety of drinks on the menu too. Would recommend going early to skip waiting in line too long.

Absolutely delicious! 1st time here and will return for sure. Cucumber salad, pork chop fried rice and the spicy dumplings are my favorite! Great service also. Amanda was our server and she helped us with all the popular dishes. Will return for sure.

Love the Vegetarian dumplings and food at Din Tai Fung. Of all the Vegetarian dumplings, I have found this restaurant to have the best vegan dumplings & vegan won tons. I've tried different dumpling restaurants and Din Tai Fung is far the best, pricey though. The food is fresh, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Also, ordered the Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao, Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Shao Mai, Shrimp Fried Noodles, Sautéed String Beans With Garlic and Red Bean & Mochi Xiao Long Bao for dessert. All the dishes were delicious and flavorful.

This place was great until they spilled an entire drink down my wife's back. The food was great, I would recommend eating here. Other than the spilled drink, the service was great, and food came out fast and fresh. The reason I'm giving this place 2 stars rather than 4 or 5 was because the manager's discount was $28 of a $400+ bill. Not only did we have to leave before desert, my wife had to spend $127 on a new outfit because she was wet down to her underclothes. We weren't expecting a free meal, but -$28 isn't even 10% of the entire meal. I expected better from a classy looking place, but you be the judge. Maybe we should've made a bigger scene.

Great spot... Don't get me wrong... Reason for the lower stars... PRICE... Food, not bad, but not worth, after $26 tip, a $201 bill.... A few appetizers and a couple entrees, mixed in with $5 per drink of a 12 oz glass of iced tea later... A gut punch of a price tag for the food... So many great authentic Chinese dining experiences in the Costa Mesa area to choose from with a much lower cost and better flavor and serving size. Averaged $18 per plate... If you have deep pockets and want decent Chinese food.. This will work just fine for you.

Wonderful date spot with awesome dumplings! Lots of varieties, just take a look at the menu. You order various ones and have them delivered to your table as they are steamed, they won't all arrive at the same time. Very fun experience!

Did take out for my first time and it was a very smooth pickup. The food was delicious and I had everything I needed to enjoy the meal back at my hotel. Din Tai Fung is so good at all the locations I've ever visited but tastes better for in person dining.

Well we had high hopes for our first experience, but it didn’t turn out the way we had planned. We arrived around 6:20pm and were told it would be a 3 hour wait BUT we opted to sit at the bar and waited 20 mins! That was a win! We received excellent service from Vince, all the bartenders were friendly and gave phenomenal customer service. Our meal was good, we really l loved the green beans, cucumber salad and shrimp fried rice… I also loved my honey lemonade with boba it was delicious. We paid for our meal and decided to walk around the mall, now here is where things take a turn… after about 30 minutes of finishing our meal we both became extremely sick to our stomachs. I’m talking back and forth to the restroom, lethargic and horrible stomach pain. This is not how I wanted to spend my birthday dinner, I hope no one else becomes as sick as we are feeling as I type this. So disappointing.

The service and ambiance are good I'll give them that. The Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Shrimp and Pork Shao Mai and Kurobuta Pork Xiao all tase bland to me. The Cucumber Salad taste good. I don't know it just me today but i don't really see what special about this place, on a personal ranking I don't think the food are up to the hype.

The food usually was good however, today, one of the dishes was less than satisfactory. The rice cake was hard and after considering for awhile, I decided to chat with our server and asked for another one. I did offer for them to just give us the rice cake part and we can eat the meat and the vegetables from the first dish but he insisted making a new one. The second one came, however, the outer ring was still hard. Perhaps, it's that batch. The server came and asked how it was. We said it was a bit better but still hard. We said perhaps it was a bad batch. I normally don't send food back but it's a 17-dollar dish. I want to enjoy my food. I have high expectations for Din Tai Fung. We ended up not leaving the half we just couldn't eat there. It was a very disappointing experience. The fried rice was not as flavorful as before either. The green bean was the saving grace of the day. Still, with the price we paid, I expected more, especially, from Din Tai Fung.

Reservations are a must! But worth the wait. Service was excellent, fast, accurate, and overall very satisfied with this restaurant. Def, will come back with family and friends. Food is fresh and perfect amount which allow for one to try many of the deli items on the menu. A must!!!

I guess the long line every time I passed by here and all the good reviews really boost my expectations. We came really early so it was no wait for us. We got chicken and pork xiaolongbao, green beans, pork chops, fried rice, beef noodle. Best: pork chops and fried rice was really good. Pork was very soft and the texture of rice is authentic. Average: Green beans and xiaolongbao were very average. Xiaolongbao is just a little better than frozen ones because they are fresh made. I had better ones in some other places. Bad: the beef noodle was not good, it tasted like instant noodles and can't even tell if there is beef in it. The portion for the price is way too little. The service was good but they were all kinda rushed everything since they were too busy. I would say it is worth to try only if the wait isn't bad.

  • 5/5 Linda L. 2 years ago on Google
Fabulous array of flavors for your taste buds! Be sure to make a reservation weeks in advance or show up early 3pm to put your name in. The BBQ shortribs were my favorite along with the chocolate dumplings. Guaranteed genuine Taiwanese experience!

  • 5/5 K L. 2 years ago on Google
Outstanding service from all staff but especially Andrew who served our table. Very professional and quick service. The food was one of the best din tai Fung locations I’ve been to. I see why there is always a wait to eat here because it is a great experience overall, but we showed up at 10:50am before opening and were seated as soon as they opened at 11am. But even if we had to wait longer it would have been worth it for the food and exceptional service.
