The Khooni Darwaza is one of the surviving city gates of the old city fortifications. The walls are long gone and Khooni Darwaza is one of 13 that still remain. The name of the gate literally means the gate of blood in Hindi due to its historical use for execution and display of executed members of the Mughal royal family. The structure is a single arched gate with many levels and windows through each. The parapet is topped with Mughal style leaf shaped barriers. Sadly, the gate is now sectioned off and it’s only visible from the main roads. Not a must see, but I was passing this on the way to Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash Narayan Memorial Park.

Kabuli Darwaza / Khooni Darwaza / laal Darwaza. “The Khooni Darwaza was built during emperor Sher Shah Suri’s time in the 16th century. It was then known as the Kabuli Darwaza as caravans to Afghanistan used to pass through this northern gate of Suri's Capital city which had the Purana Qila as its central citadel. However, besides providing direction, this gateway served another purpose as well. Its walls were used to display heads of criminals since it was situated in the outskirts of the City. It is said that emperor Jahangir who succeeded his father Akbar to the throne, was opposed by some of the Akbar's Navaratnas. Emperor Jahangir had the two sons of Abdur Rahim Khan-i-Khana’n, a minister in his father, Emperor Akbar’s court, killed and hung on this gate. Things to keep in mind! 1. Situated opposite to MAMC main gate. 2. Some may find it spooky. 3. Well preserved. 4. Previously it was open for public but due to some reason now it's closed...you can't enter the premises. 5. Nearest metro station is Delhi gate metro station gate no 1. 6. Magestic of all surviving gates in Delhi.

Khooni Darwaaza or Lal Darwaaza is near Delhi gate and Firoza shah kotal momentums, between the road on Bahdur Shah Zafar Marg.  It is one of the 13 surviving gates in Delhi. it is know of its bloody history.the sons of Bahadur Shah Zafar- Mirza Mughal and Mirza Khizr Sultan and grandson Mirza Abu Bekar, were murdered at the gate. So this surviving gate name is Khooni Darwaaza (blood Gate).

Khooni Darwaza is located near Delhi Gate, on the Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in Delhi, India. It is one of the 13 surviving gates in Delhi. It is just south of the fortified Old Delhi and was constructed by Sher Shah Suri. Khooni Darwaza was situated on an open tract of land before the rise of modern buildings around it. It lies today on the Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg opposite the Feroz Shah Kotla cricket ground, which lies to its east. To the west is the entrance to the Maulana Azad Medical College.

Khooni Darwazaa - Bahadur Shah Zafar Road Located on the main road, with Maulana Azad Medical College on one side & LNJP Memorial Park on the other side, Khooni Darwazaa is a historic heritage site. It has been sealed for quite a while, with 3 metres solid steel grills & the inside doors have been grilled too, so currently it is impossible to climb to the upper floors. It is one of the 13 remaining Darwazaas of Old Delhi Though the nearby Delhi Gate (in Chandni Chowk area) is more significantly important. It was built by Sher Shah Suri. This gate saw some action too... It was here that the descendants of the Last Mughal emperor (Bahadur Shah Zafar Khan) were publicly killed & subsequently the Mughal Dynasty lost it's importance. Although, a narrow path connects the opposite sides of the road, it + surrounding area is deserted at night & poorly lit, so i strongly advise not to cross via this path after 10pm, but rather to cross from the nearby U-turn Red Light alongside Shaheedi Park. Hopefully, they fix the lights around this gate soon!

Today Khooni Darwaza is included in the scary places of Delhi. It's located in near Delhi gate and ITO metro station, and front of Maulana Azad medical College. This is free of cost. It was constructed by Sher Shah Suri, Khooni Darwaza is first found by name in literature after three princes of the Mughal dynasty, Bahadur Shah zafar's sons Mirza Mughal and Khizr sultan and grandson Abu bakht were shot by William Hodson (British officer) on 22 September 1857 during the indian rebellion of 1857.

This one is a special attraction in Delhi as it has got legacy of great Indian Rulers It is very much related to Jahangir, Aurangzeb, Dara Shikoh, Bahadur Shah Zafar 2's family amongst others, People were being executed and the victor was having their head displayed at the gate to subvert his adversaries or install fear in them 3-min walk from Delhi Gate,
