Loved the chicken and waffles I had at Roux. The chicken is just spicy enough to complement the butter and maple syrup, and the crispiness of the chicken works so well with the soft texture of the waffle. The ambiance of the restaurant is also nice, and the service was excellent. Definitely looking to come back as soon as possible! Glad to have it in Hyde Park

Beautiful space! Delicious catfish n grits, chicken n waffles, and shrimp in grits. Great temperature of food! All around, delicious!

Absolutely fantastic! The food, service, and ambience were spectacular! I visited today with a group of 4. I had shrimp and grits with scrambled egg and seasonal fruit. The shrimp, grits, and eggs were full of flavor and the perfect temperature. The fruit was fresh and sweet! Others in my group thoroughly enjoyed their selections: catfish & fries with coleslaw, chicken & waffles, and 3-egg omelette with potatoes and biscuit with honey & sausage gravy. The line moved quickly, we were seated promptly after ordering, and our meals were delivered to our table within 5 minutes of being seated.

Everything I had was amazing, especially the shrimp and grits, large shrimp and the grits were so creamy and seasoned well, I cleaned my plate and I rarely do that! I also had a mimosa and a cinnamon roll that was delicious. Only issue was the customer service, he was just very blah, no enthusiasm. Comfortable seating, the pillows are a nice touch, and very clean dining room.

The ambiance itself was nice.... and the food was overall pretty decent, but the portion to price comparison was completely off. For the shrimp and grits, you get a nice sized reasonable for most portion, where as the slightly, but not much, cheaper chicken and waffles was 3 little tenders on top of two insanely thin waffles. The large coffee is a Starbucks grande, and hospitality is automatically included on the tab, which is fine though of course they don't outright tell you. Again, the place is aesthetically pleasing but some of the portions are just outright confusing. Not to mention, the deviled eggs, $7 for 1 1/2 egg. Really? So how long is the other half waiting for somebody to order it? Not the place you want to go for a nice calming brunch due to the numerous people not caring for their conversation volume or their children screaming (multiple families and nobody said anything which has me thinking this may be a normal occurrence), but for a quick overpriced (depending on what you get and deem pricey), it's not horrible bad. For those with sodium issues, the stuff we got didn't really have salt at all and the oil has a little spice for those with a spice sensitivity, which I wish they would've mentioned. Even when you ask for the hot chicken and waffles to not be hot, it will still have some spice so beware of that.

This is an order at the counter kind of place. The food came out super fast. We ordered their country fried steak, their biscuits and gravy, and their fried green tomato tartine. Everything was absolutely delicious full of flavor and cooked to perfection. My favorite dish was the fried green tomato tartine.

The beignets are a little smaller than I’m used to but they were excellent! The shrimp and grits was very good and buttery. However, there was a pile of butter or oil at the end of the bowl which was not that enjoyable to eat. I would still come back here though. We parked in the attached parking garage and I believe there is street parking nearby. It’s a large restaurant and wasn’t busy when we went.

This place was on my list for awhile so made the 45 minute drive from northwest side to Hyde Park fully ready to order chicken and waffles. The ambiance of restaurant was a great open space and even though there was a line it went fairly quickly. When we ordered we were told they ran out of chicken and waffles by 10am and that there are days it isn’t available. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Ordered the catfish which was very tender and the Patty melt. Fries were nice and crispy and the beignets were delicious. While we were happy with our meal I don’t know if its worth revisiting. Felt very warm and hot inside and to know that an item listed on the menu has limited availability leaves a sour taste.

Today is the second time I have eaten here. After my first visit, I could not have imagined having a better experience. However, to my pleasant surprise, today was even better. The breading on the fish is seasoned, and the fish is firm. The mashed potatoes I had were made from scratch and whipped. Everyone with me sincerely enjoyed their meals. I'm grateful and fearful this restaurant is so close to my job and house. Pray for me.

An amazing space for breakfast all day. This restaurant does not accept reservations. Pay for your food at the register and seat yourself. Portion sizes are nice and the food is delicious. I can’t wait to go back.

The food came out really fast, hot, and fresh. Staff was very polite and patient with the people in line who still didn’t know what they wanted to order by the time they got to the front. We enjoyed everything that we ordered! Eating on the patio was nice and there was plenty of seating when we went on a Friday morning. Will be back!

The food here was legit! The grits come in a variety of forms. Think Waffle House hash brown selections but on delicious grits. Got mine with cheese, an egg and bacon. Outstanding. The avocado toast was delish too ! But did I mention the grits?

The cozy, rustic decor sets the perfect ambiance for a leisurely brunch experience. The menu at Roux is a delightful fusion of Southern comfort food with a modern twist. Their signature dishes, like the Cajun Eggs Benedict and the Chicken and Waffles, are a testament to their culinary creativity. The flavors are rich, hearty, and truly soul-satisfying.

Delicious food & environment. I also love the bright space and look forward to the outdoor seating area when it warms up. Came back for another visit right away after our first visit! Wish I had asked for my egg to be fried hard as it was totally runny. Quick & Good Customer service. I want to come back for bowling too

Food was delicious! I really enjoyed the avocado toast. My friend had the deviled eggs and fruit. It is super easy to order and the service was excellent. The temperature was a cold in the restaurant so that was a little uncomfortable. The decor is cute. Great for photos. I really liked the wide variety of foods on the menu and the ability to make it vegan. I will definitely be back!

Well-designed, with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. The environment is cool, and the food, although tasty, leans towards the indulgent side rather than being healthy. The wait time and line can be a bit lengthy. The bathrooms are generally clean. Dessert options are limited but satisfying.

I had a great experience here. The music created a great ambiance and vibe. I ordered the catfish and the portion was very generous. The catfish was delicious. I did substitute the slaw for sourdough toast which had some delicious jam. Be mindful that the online menu was different than the in store menu. I will definitely be coming back to work out of here one day since it is also a coffee shop.

This place is a must for breakfast or dinner spots in Chicago. It’s a beautiful place. The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The food was delicious. I will definitely be back!

Lovely atmosphere; there’s a little “quick stop” area for a small bite like coffee and dessert. Well lit and relatively spacious. Beignets were decent and the coffee was quite good. Food looked great as well although we just stopped for dessert and coffee.

Definitely will come back. The sausage biscuit was really good. The cinnamon roll was stellar (and large. A good size for 2 people to split). The lemonade was not fresh squeezed but everything else tasted amazing. Indoor seating area had lots of natural light and the music was pleasant. There is also nice outdoor seating.

So being born and raised in Louisiana I was excited to try it out. I ordered quite a bit of food to go. I ordered the Beignets which were good, but a bit denser than a normal Beignet and kinda tasted like a roll. I also got the biscuit which was good and flaky. The shrimp and grits were good but I wasnt a fan of the sauce they had on top.The potatoes lacked salt. As for the chicken and waffles... The chicken was great, but my waffle was barely there. I'll post a pic below
