Just such a beautiful theater. I've been there twice within the past year - once for comedy and once for a band. both experiences were fantastic. Views from the seats are great, sound was great, plenty of bathroom space (no lines!), a lounge/bar setup on the 2nd level, very clean, attentive staff, parking and restaurants very close by. We're totally sold on this venue!

My daughter and I went for a Daddy Daughter Date. Such a beautiful place. It really is an amazing place. I believe my family will return this year! I thought the staff was very kind and helpful. The parking lots near the theater cost a small amount of money and the vallet is super reasonable. They have drinks and light refreshments for sale.

Beautiful! It has always been beautiful. Ever since I was a little girl. It doesn't matter where you sit, you will have an amazing view. Literally! There are two bars/ concession stands, one on each end of the theater. It gets pretty congested, though. This is a clean building with pristine interior design. I love it! The bathrooms are beautiful, but hot. Parking is limited if you're looking to park on the street; however, there is more than enough parking in the garage and parking lot... which you'll need to pay for. If you park on the street, you do not need to pay to park during the week, after 5 pm. Also, you do not need to pay for street parking on the weekends. The neighborhood is nice. You're free to move around and bar hop. It's all in walking distance.

I love this theatre. Love to see Cheap Trick, but this time the sound was terrible. 4 tickets waste. We walked out. The entire row behind us also walked out. All of us were complaining in the lobby about it. I sent a message to the Genesee the following day. They blamed the band. Claim they never knew there was a problem even though we told several staff members. Refused to make any accommodations.

Me and the wife went here to see gin blossom. Concert was good 👍 but the venue could be better. Seats are uncomfortable with no drink holders. They really remind me of the seats at the United Center. I thought being a smaller venue they would have better seats. All and all it was a good concert. Me and the wife had alot of fun. But considering it's a 2 1/2 hour drive to this venue, I'm not sure I would go back. However if you live a bit closer and a band you like is playing I think it would be worth your while to give it a try 🤔

Well worth the visit, we attended Blippi the musical with our toddler. The venue is clean, staff very helpful to guide you to your seats and easy to navigate. Note: parking sucks! Logistically, carry cash as the ramps don’t take card. Street parking takes card but is only 2hr max. People on Grand Ave drive like crazy (cut you off, no blinker, etc). So drive defensively and stay attentive.

Love going to concerts here. Acoustics are great, and there no bad seats in the house. All the bands we have seen here are great!

Very nice theater, fairly priced drinks, comfortable seats. I would note that the ushers would have been walking up and down the aisle and reminding people to put their phones away and to stop having side conversations.

I got there too early for a show. I'm so glad I was early because I ended up on a fun adventure thanks to the staff! Giant shout out to the woman working the coat check for having fun historical ghost stories and telling me where I could go to get amazing views of the holiday decorations. I definitely want to come back and do the official ghost tour now!

The Genesee theater is a beautiful old style theater. Seats are comfortable and good view of the stage from any area. There is a parking garage one street away that charged $10. Not much to see in downtown Waukegan so it is easy to get the theater with no traffic

My family and I saw Brian Setzer here and the show was awesome!! We had a great time! The theatre is beautiful and well maintained, and the women's restroom was clean and had plenty of stalls.

Beautiful venue. Love seeing concerts in such a small venue. They’re for Brian Setzer and we were forced to sit down most of the concert. brain finally checked at the end and told us we could stand and dance. Thank goodness as it is a concert and not an opera or play. Brian’s band and opening band were a lot of fun.

Amazing experience. Very beautiful theatre. The only thing I didn’t like- there is no coat check. So everyone was sitting in their coats during the show

Good venue with good sound. It is a beautiful old theater with plenty to appreciate. It being an older theater, I found the seats a bit on the small side and was rubbing elbows with people on either side. Seat was also not completely comfortable for the duration of the 90 minute show.

It was a Beautiful theater and the staff were great, everyone was very nice and helpful. The concert was Amazing, Michael W. Smith & Amy Grant's Christmas Show with special guest Michael Tait. It was a sweet night and the audience was great!!

Dane Cook: Perfectly Shattered Tour. The Genesse Theater is a very beautiful theater that makes you feel important to be present in such a place. Dane Cook was a great show, well worth the admission and 1.5 hr drive from Wisconsin.

Exquisite restoration - kudos to the community leaders to restore this gem. There isn't a bad seat in the house. Wish the theater was full. I wish our youth could win tickets and set this venue up for success with our future generations establishing fond memories such as we took away Saturday evening.

Great Lake Street Dive concert and TC Furlong did a great job with sound (I think that’s who ran it), but man this place really needs an upgrade. There is no reason that a venue that brings in this much business in Chicagoland cannot afford to put a decent sound system in, as opposed to renting for reach event. It just doesn’t make sense and was a little disappointing to see. Somebody’s priorities are in the wrong place. We got lucky that this tour was mostly stripped down acoustic style renditions.

Only have been here a handful of times, but the history behind and within this building is so interesting! Musicals and concerts sound great! As per most concerts and other outings food and drinks are overpriced, so I recommend eating out afterwards or snack before your event. I highly recommend getting here early if you want to check out the architecture of this beautiful theatre, or are an appreciator of history (they have tons of pictures, articles, and relics from previous years and generations).

Not a favorite venue as these seats have to be the most uncomfortable I have been in. However, the bars were great!! The bathrooms were plenty & very clean. It was very neat to see that they have renovated the place, but also tried to keep as much "original " as they could. The chandeliers & light fixtures are very beautiful!!

A very nice venue, great sound, and staff. I enjoyed my time at this location, the green room was well stocked, and our needs never went without. The theater is located on a nice little Main street with lots of restaurants and shops. Very nice overall, they seem to have a lot of quality talent doing shows there, I highly recommend.
