I've dined in at this mom & pop place several times and the food was always excellent. I especially like that the chef frequently makes the rounds of the dining room to check if customers are pleased - something I haven't seen elsewhere in ages. Last night I ordered carryout for the first time and the spaghetti and meatballs was amazing. I think their boulognese (tho not the same) is the best I've had since Fanny's of Evanston many years ago. Everything was packaged nicely and cello-wrapped to prevent leakage. Delicious and an excellent value.

If you like authentic Italian cooking, don't hesitate on Giacomo's. I travel to the Chicago area for business regularly and Giacomo's is a must. I'm working toward trying every menu item and have never been disappointed. You won't either... Baked clams and lobster ravioli...๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹

We have been here several times and love it. Our favorite is the zuppa de peche - very unique and delicious seafood pasta. The service is almost always perfect - servers are very friendly and the owner and chef (Giacomo) are extremely nice. We did have a server who was rude and condescending to us once, but the owner quickly resolved the issue. We will definitely come back.

It is small place and it was packed almost all the time we were there. Food, to me, was just OK. The place was unbelievably hot. I was running with sweat from the minute we sat down. I would have left but had to stay for my family. The glasses are so old that there is a line scratched into the glass. When I asked to change the glass, I was told" it's just scratched from stacking all glasses" and didn't offer to change. I personally would put only 1 star but since my family liked their food I am giving 3 stars. Their portions are huge. I will never go back, however I might order for take out.

Very good. A nice mom & pop atmosphere. Excellent well made food. Had their homemade ravioli. Really liked that the salad with dinner was small & very fresh. Very attentive service.

Highly recommended!!! We've been dining here for most of the 25 years they have been open. We've never been disappointed with the food or service. The decor is not very fancy, but it is clean, comfortable and pleasant. Some of our favorite items are lasagna, cannelloni, and the Vesuvio (chicken or veal). Giacomo's meat sauce is very delicious! I had the fish special (cod this time) a couple weeks ago and that was excellent too. This is a family-owned restaurant and Giacomo is almost always in the kitchen when we visit. He is frequently willing to make dishes that are special requests. I love the spumoni for dessert too!

I honestly dont know where to start, everything was amazing! The food is top notch and the portions are super generous. Atmosphere is very cozy & itโ€™s a great spot for a romantic dinner. The chef Jack came out to check up on everything and our server Grace was very friendly & on top of everything the whole time. Thanks for a great experience!

Great family owned Italian restaurant with authentic Italian food. I look forward to coming back soon.

Not the Giacomo's I know. An Italian Restaurant with a bar that doesn't know how to make an Aperol Spritz or French Martini? Calamari soggy and too much breading. Chicken parmsan ok and a little too cooked, chicken Florentine flavorful but chicken somewhat dry. Price not competitive with quality.

Service was lack luster, food was average, atmosphere is decent albiet outdated. We ordered the one of a kind polenta stuffed lasagna, which sounded delicious... but the ratio of polenta to meat and everything else made it terrible... there was literally just over an inch of polenta smack dab in the middle( like a dusty wet brick) accompanied by quarter inch layers of sauce, pasta, and meat. There are so many better options for the price and portion.

We tried the eggplant parmesan and lasagna. Both were absolutely fantastic (and the neat sauce that came with the lasagna as well) & we'll definitely be back.

Great, all the way around! Delicious food (obviously an exceptional chef), wonderful, friendly, relaxing atmosphere, and staff trained in the traditional ways of great customer service! We had filet mignon, lobster ravioli w/ shrimp, and tiramisu for dessert. Sorry I didn't take pictures but you won't be disappointed!

Authentic Italian. How do I know? My native Italian friend told me so while speaking Italian with a smile on his face and pasta in his mouth. Tables are a little cramped but for the most part not overly crowded when we went in. Good wine selection. Not a place you picture Frank Sinatra but a nice neighborhood joint.

Giacomo (Jack) and his amazing wife, Anna, own and operate this legitimate Italian restaurant. Pasta made fresh every day. You can legitimately feel the love in this place. Calamari is excellent, as is the chicken parmesan and marsala (Just ask for it). Great value. Awesome food. Intimate atmosphere.

Looks like a nice little Italian restaurant, been wanting to go for a long time. Prices looked reasonable, but got Sat and waited over 20 min and no one came to the table (only about 10 to 12 tables). Just completely ignored, so got up and left. The chicken parm. Looked great, probably worth going, but maybe on an easy weekday night.

I had the pleasure of being introduced to Giacomo's and this is quite possibly the best Italian food I've ever had. Beyond the food, the service was so exceptional, it was more of a "family-like" experience vs "going to a restaurant". Brilliant food, beautiful presentation, hospitable environment and phenomenal service. If you find yourself in Chicago, plan at least one meal here and come hungry.

Had a business appt / dinner here upon recommendations from existing clients. The salmon on spinach was generous and very well prepared. The small side dish of penne with red sauce was a perfect compliment to this healthy dinner. My out of town guest had the shrimp special and was very pleased with his choice. Great hidden gem. Need to take my wife there yet this month as she will enjoy the atmosphere and dinners.

I've eaten here many times, and have always greatly enjoyed my meal and the service provided. Chef Giacomo does a great job of making unique and authentic Italian dishes at a reasonable price without sacrificing any quality. This restaurant is close to an hour away from my home, and yet I make sure to visit multiple times a year. If you like anything spicy, order the arrabiata sauce at a heat level of 8 or greater. It makes for a fun dish.

Have not been to Giacomo's since before Covid. Was very happy to see the restaurant busy on a Sunday evening serving (as before) delicious food. Greeting was warm and the service was very good. I really enjoyed the Chicken Florentine.

It has been awhile since I've dined here but we used to go on special occasions. Right now I'm pretty much have a need for that meat lasagna. It is a particularly hearty portion and will fill you up. The interesting thing about Giacomo's Lasagna is it has polenta in it. It's so dang tasty. Will be making a trip back here soon. Also, the service here has always been on point too.

We love eating here so much, that we decided to have our wedding here too. Anna Maria paid attention to every detail when we were planning the wedding. And during the reception, the staff was superbly attentive and totally on point. Giacomo came out and said hi too! Everyoneโ€™s so friendly. I couldnโ€™t have asked for a better experience. It was perfect. Thank you.
