Total
Scam!
Bait
and
switch
tactics.
I
have
a
driveable
vehicle
that
I
just
want
to
get
out
of
my
driveway.
Quoted
$295
on
the
phone
based
on
having
catalytic
converters
on
the
car.
No
problem.
The
reason
I’m
junking
this
vehicle
is
because
it
needs
two
new
catalytic
converters
that
are
difficult
to
remove
due
to
their
location
in
the
engine
compartment
of
a
transverse
V6
engine.
This
and
other
necessary
routine
maintenance
items
required
make
expense
higher
than
vehicle
value.
Getting
paid
$295
to
haul
it
away
was
totally
acceptable.
Driver
shows
up
over
an
hour
late.
Asks
a
few
questions
about
the
vehicle
but
has
trouble
opening
the
hood.
Insinuates
that
we
intentionally
had
this
condition
to
prevent
him
from
seeing
the
engine.
After
he
eventually
figures
this
out
snaps
a
few
pictures
under
hood
and
under
car.
He
then
informs
me
that
I
don’t
have
a
catalytic
converter
on
the
car.
I
informed
him
that
there
are
two
of
them
and
they
are
in
the
engine
compartment
and
difficult
to
see
without
the
car
on
a
lift.
He
then
points
to
a
location
on
the
exhaust
system
that
I
replaced
after
the
resonator
and
said
that’s
where
the
converter
goes
and
someone
removed
it.
I
explained
that
no,
I
repaired
that
area
and
that’s
not
a
converter
location.
At
this
point
this
guy
turns
into
a
total
a$$hole
suggests
I’m
either
a
fool
or
a
liar
and
then
DEMANDS
that
I
show
him
the
converters.
Late
arrival,
rude
and
demanding
and
Having
already
explained
to
him
they
are
difficult
to
see
without
it
in
the
air
I
asked
him
to
leave
and
that
I
was
not
interested
in
completing
this
transaction.
He
then
accuses
me
of
being
disrespectful,
challenges
my
manhood
and
explains
that
he
knows
cars
and
again
insists
I
take
a
picture
of
the
converters.
So
to
prove
this
a$$hole
wrong
I
lay
on
my
back
in
the
street,
stick
my
phone
under
the
engine
and
take
a
picture
of
the
bank
1
converter
and
text
it
to
his
boss
who
tells
me
that
is
the
exhaust
manifold
(wrong!!!)
and
that
he
will
give
me
$200
for
the
car.
Nope
you
can
leave.
Buh
buy.
I
pull
the
car
back
into
my
driveway
while
the
driver
remains
in
the
street.
2
minutes
later
phone
rings
and
boss
offers
$250.
Nope.
Five
minutes
later
driver
calls
and
says
they
will
honor
the
original
quote
but
ends
this
by
saying
“the
next
time
you
call
to
junk
a
car
you
need
to
be
honest
when
describing
the
car”.
That’s
it.
F#%k
these
guys.
You’re
late,
rude,
uninformed,
make
me
crawl
under
the
car,
bait
and
switch
me
and
call
me
a
liar
twice
and
then
expect
me
to
agree.
Go
f$&k
yourselves.
We
have
a
brief
heated
exchange
over
the
phone
and
I
hang
up.
Here’s
the
deal.
We
are
talking
about
$295
here.
This
is
nothing
and
certainly
not
enough
for
all
that
aggravation.
All
I
wanted
was
the
car
to
disappear
and
feel
good
about
it.
What
I
got
was
a
headache.
At
this
point
I
would
rather
set
this
car
on
fire
than
sell
it
to
these
guys.
It’s
just
the
principle
of
the
matter.
I
called
Kars
for
Kids
and
they
gladly
took
it
away.
Never
called
me
a
liar
once.
