I have been supporting this place as a customer since it opened, and I have just moved back to town and was excited to take my wife and friend here for breakfast. While breakfast tasted fine, when we asked for hot sauce we were told it would cost $1 for our choice of Franks or Sriracha. Absolutely ridiculous to nickel and dime your customers like this. I could understand a charge for housemade hot sauce, but this is unacceptable. You just lost a customer.

I just ordered a “Thai” salad that was basically leaves of spinach with stale tasting cooked noodles on it .. super disappointing that this is what I got for 30$

The Cow Restaurant is an absolute culinary gem that deserves nothing less than a stellar 5-star rating. The highlights included friendly, informative staff that went above and beyond to give us tips about our vacation on the island and a unique menu that showed the staff had a creative and passionate mind. Genuinely some of the best food we’ve ever had! Specifically the Cookie Monster Cheesecake (made in-house). We’ll definitely be dreaming about this food when we return to Ontario!

This is a hidden gem. Nestled in between Tim Hortons and the Riverside Inn. The food was phenomenal and our server, Laura was awesome. Definitely coming back for the Krabby Patty Sliders on Thursday.

After a much needed (but tiring) bike ride in the Cowichan area, we went over to The Cow Restaurant for some rewarding calories. Walking in, it was quiet, and we were informed they unfortunately couldn't serve any alcohol since their system was being upgraded, but promised delicious food. So we stayed! And I am so glad we did 🤤 I got the Baja bowl ($16), which comes with shrimp and guacamole atop crispy delicious hash browns, creamy scrambled eggs, and hollandaise sauce. Amazing stuff! It did get a bit rich after about half, would've been nice to have a bit of acidity like hot sauce or Kimchi in the dish, but I was too stuffed by then! @added4u got their special burger (forgot the name, sorry!) but it was part of their burger month special. It was basically a double BigMac, but healthier, fancier, and so satisfying after a long bike ride 😁 Service was friendly and efficient, she checked our vaccine passports and ID promptly before we were allowed to sit anywhere. Spacious and bright inside with such amazing food, I'm surprised it's not more jam packed!

Nice stop around Cowichan lake. Overall decent food and good service. Would try burgers next time. - Penne carbonara - flavourful thick sauce with baked cheese and sauce on top. - Crab dip - had greek tones that were delicious. The Greek bread was crispy and fresh. Our favourite here. - Battered Fish - this was with snapper which was flaky but moist. The breading was a little thick. - Poutine - don't recommend. Didn't have real cheese curds. Gravy was very salty and seemed from powder. - The Cow Shaft - cool coffee flavoured cold drink with cold foam and 3 vodka shots!
