Trail down to the lake was closed, but we found our way through the ravine.

Parking is way too difficult if you don't already have a parking permit and there was no signage to indicate that the beach was closed until you actually get down onto the path. We arranged to be dropped off (because of the annoying parking) and headed down towards the beach when we saw a temporary sign saying that the path was closed with no further information. It would have been great to know that the beach was closed when we arrived so we didn't waste that time, and it would also be great to allow for non-resident parking on weekdays maybe. The website makes it seem like the park welcomes visitors, but actually visiting the park will quickly disabuse you of that notion.

Very nice little beach to swim and play with dog. Bridge is closed but there is an old trail. Unfortunately that one was also recently gated. Does anyone know how to access the beach another way and where is safe to park without Highland Park sticker?

You need a parking permit to park here, which seems pretty unnecessary. It’s almost like they don’t want certain types of people coming here.

The one beach I would never miss to visit whenever I am near highland Park. Beach has nice benches where you can sit and enjoy the view of lake Michigan.

Recently closed off but great otherwise safe,clean and a dog friendly environment also a great place due to the many gates to keep dogs in the beach area!!!!!

Parking is annoying? The lot is always empty! I live in Evanston where we’ve had no dog beach for the last two years because of high lake levels. Although I have property and pay taxes on it in HP, I only bothered one year getting a parking pass (had to bring in my tax return to show them) I’ve parked in the Moraine lot for years and never once got a ticket.
