This Castle type thing is awesome to look at! They used to let you go closer unfortunately they now have it fenced off. Great hike in the area.

One of the most scenic free parks I have ever been to in my 44 years! Way too much walking uphill for me but I am also very out of shape with fibromyalgia. I was still able to (by the skin of my teeth) get to the ruins and get great photos of my family there. I wish I had planned better but it was lovely and I will have to go back. I had no clue Missouri had so many different mosses and ferns and was so GREEN! Nice weather too.

Very neat place to explore. It's unfortunate that so much has been ruined by people with no care or concern for preservation- including the plantlife beaten to death by people who can't be bothered to walk the path. Make sure you also check out the lookouts- they offer some breathtaking views.

Beautiful State Park. We started the hike at Spring Trail but if you park in the lot designated for the castle it's a short 500ft+ walk with gorgeous lookouts and a cool "castle" wish you could go into the structure but it looks like it was recently closed off.

Pretty cool views, even in the early spring. Breezy and chilly this time of year. Not a lot of people, so we had a lovely, quiet hike down to the water and back.

Such a beautifully scenic and historical area. Gorgeous views and awesome hiking trails full of photo opportunities. WARNING, the public restrooms are disgusting so don't plan on using them!!

Great place. Just outside Camdenton. Steep hills and curvy roads give way to beautiful views. The castle sits on a bluff over a spring that drains into the Lake of the Ozarks. There is an upper and lower parking lot to visit the castle. Lower parking required walking up a paved trail to the castle ruins. The upper parking is near the elevation of the ruins and would require significantly less walking. I went in late October and the views were spectacular. There are trails to the side is your want to explore more in the forests. The carriage house and castle ruins are close by and don't take much time to visit. We went to the next parking area and took the spring trail to the grist mill, then across the island to the rapids exiting the spring. So clear and beautiful. The hike was short but rugged and steep. While I did not use the facilities, my friend did and said they were beyond horrible. We spent about two hours exploring at a fast pace. I think four hours would be better and allow for some time to enjoy nature and have a picnic.

An old, elegant homestead with an interesting history. This seems to be a very popular place to go so parking can be a pain. The walking trails around the ruins are very well maintained, the walk to each part of the location is not super long, and easy it’s to navigate. There several are other trails that jut out from the ruins, as well. These take you down the hill and around the lake. Fantastic place to spend the afternoon with friends, family, or even if you just wanted to get away by yourself and take in some beautiful scenery.

Great hiking experience! Beautiful park with tons to see and do. You can't explore any of the ruins, I'm assuming because inconsiderate jack wagons ruined it for respectful people...but you do get to see them up close. Stunning views abound. Take your bug spray!

Ha Ha Tonka State Park in Missouri is a natural gem, with views of the Lake of the Ozarks and a unique window into Missouri’s geological and cultural history. Its diverse landscapes, from sheer bluffs to serene springs, make it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. For an ideal trail experience, start with the Spring Trail to witness the park’s spring and its blue waters. Next, explore the Castle Trail to see the iconic ruins of a 20th-century castle, offering a blend of history and scenic vistas. The natural bridge is also worth visiting.

Kind of neat but not much to do except walk and look. You can not enter the ruins as they are crumbling so bring a drone if you have one.

Beautiful. The autumn foliage is so gorgeous and the fall weather makes it so nice. The structure is very so pretty.

This was such a great place to visit. The sunset was breath taking. We didn't make it to the spring because we got there to late in the day. We spent our new years visiting Missouri and now we want to make it a tradition. Definitely a must see!!!

So magical and beautiful…. & soooo accessible to all ages and fitness levels! There are multiple trails of varying lengths and difficulty. Most are pretty accessible no matter your level- especially the castle! They definitely planned the layout out well! The views are absolutely stunning and the nature is so peaceful. We will definitely be back for one of the longer trails when we have more time. The only “complaint” I have is that the castle is only viewable behind a wall, you cannot get very close at all and cannot see the interior, just the exterior walls and a tiny bit of the grand entrance. There needs to be an elevated structure built to look down on it or SOMETHING. It was disappointing not being able to see more because of liability- but I get it.

Had been wanting to visit Ha Ha Tonka for a few years and our travels put us in the area so we side tripped to it. Was cool to see but unfortunately it was very limited being all fenced off now. Should have made the trip a few years earlier. Couldn't see just how grand it was with just the exterior views. I understand it's a safety thing.

You cannot go into the castle ruins!( I did not know this when we planned to come. ) Which is understand due to the possible destruction and case of injury. It was still very cool to see and definitely a great hike to get there! Such a lovely view from the top!

Located in the Ozark this European Castle by Robert McClure Snyder is an awesome state park. Be aware there is some hiking required. The castle is 521 feet at a 5% grade from the handicap parking. It is a cool place for the entire family if in the area. There are some great lookouts and good story boards.

The Castle Ruins at Ha Ha Tonka are a haunting yet beautiful remnant of a bygone era. The surrounding landscape and views of the Lake of the Ozarks are stunning. Bring the family and a picnic and enjoy! The stunning ruins are located at the top of the hill and the hike up to them from the parking lot is paved. The ruins are fenced off so you cannot go climbing about, but you can still get some good pictures of the ruins and the overlook. Be sure to take advantage of plenty of the other trails in this state park.

There is parking right next to the water tower, castle, & carriage house so each one is only a few minutes walk. Despite the fencing around the castle, you’re still able to get close enough to get some good photos. Truly fascinating to read the history about this place. It would have been close to the same level as the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC judging by the few photos they had of the interior. So if you’re in the Ozarks, it’s definitely worth the trip. It’s free and breathtaking. We absolutely loved it! There’s a couple different hiking trails that are located around the castle or you can drive up to the next road to see the smaller scale natural bridge. It’s actually a lot bigger once you get down to the bottom, but not as impressive as some of the others I’ve seen. Still worth it to stop by and take a look. There’s a parking lot right next to the path. Walk a few mins and you’ll be able to walk underneath it.

Unbelievable place to visit. It's a bit of a hike, but completely worth it. I could have spent a couple days at the park.

I loved the views. It's an interesting place to visit. I liked learning about the castle and the family who built it. If you like hiking, it's a great place to go.

This is a good place to visit en route to take a break from driving. It doesn't worth a trip by itself. The ruins with the Ozark lake and the nicely constructed walking trail on the Water tower side is nice to see. Entry into the castle ruins is prohibited because the structure is unstable and unsafe.

  • 5/5 Rob C. 7 months ago on Google
Unique and scenic area with breathtaking views. We had to park in the lower lot and hike up the 1/4 mile trail to the ruins, but its an easy grade hike on level asphalt path. The ruins itself are very impressive and pictures just don’t do it justice. Great place to bring a picnic lunch. Also, don’t miss the spring which is visible from the ruins. You’ll have to drive around to visit, but very worth it.

This place was so cool. We went thinking that it was gonna be some castle ruins, and it was, and they were great, but what they dont tell you about is the amazing view you have from the castle. There are also some nice hiking trails. You must go see this if you are in town. Highly recommend.

  • 5/5 Alan F. 6 months ago on Google
Awesome!!! Two Handicap parking spots close to the ruins, also some extra spots (~10) otherwise parking down the streets and walk up the hill, but easy. Fall colors were incredible!

  • 5/5 Julene Y. 7 months ago on Google
Loved hiking and exploring the rugged outdoor area. Plenty of trails for accessing the different sites and for many photo options. Walking within the Castle Ruins is no longer allowed, and there is fencing and signage stating such. However, there are still awesome views and photo opportunities throughout the area.

I love to go hiking and finally had the opportunity to explore this beautiful property. We went on one of the last warm days of the year so the trails were pretty busy but still a very pleasurable experience. The castle is immaculate and the remains are beautiful. This is a hike you could make last an hour or two and spend the night with their six mile trail with a campsite. Those steps are not for the weak. They were a challenge but worth every step. I will definitely be back soon to explore more!!

Although it's a relatively small park, it's got a lot of great trails and scenery to make a trip there worth it. The trails there are a good length (from 20 minutes to an hour and a half) and the terrain is pretty interesting. Didn't see too many animals but the nature itself is pretty. Check out the bridge, it's really worth it!

The main features are fenced off preventing you from enjoying them. The Squirrel cop blocked off the main parking to the castle because he decided the 12 parking spaces weren't ample and that adults can't figure parking out. This precluded any wheelchair access. We walked from "The old post office"on a narrow wooden boardwalk with railings. During covid trying to squeeze by a few hundred people and errant children is a bit much. Much better stuff to do in the ozarks than put up with poorly managed ruins you have to experience with a zoom lens.

  • 5/5 Diana F. 3 years ago on Google
We absolutely love this place. You can no longer walk up to the castle ruins, they have it fenced off. However, arriving early allows you to watch the sun rise through the once majestic but still stately structure. A sight worth seeing. Stop by the visitor center. The folks are so knowledgeable about the castle.

Beautiful area! Loved visiting when all the leaves had fallen, you can see so far away and we weren't quite as exhausted from walking! Didn't have the energy for the stairs leading to the waterfall but the ruins and the natural bridge were awesome. Highly recommend! Lots of benches and places to rest too.

  • 5/5 Bobby L. 3 years ago on Google
Great place to visit. There is a fence around it so you cannot get as close as you used to be able to. The walk is not long at all.
