We
were
visiting
from
Atlanta
where
everyone
always
assumes
the
best
Korean
food
can
be
found,
but
I
politely
disagree.
Northern
Boulevard,
with
all
its
humble
storefronts
where
some
of
the
best
and
tastiest
hidden
treasures
can
be
found.
I
thought
I
knew
where
the
best
jjajangmyun,
or
black
bean
noodles,
could
be
found,
but
in
the
time
I've
lived
outside
of
New
York,
this
noodle
house
has
apparently
and
recently
gained
the
reputation
of
the
best
jjajangmyun
in
town.
There
are
tons
of
combination
platters
in
case
you're
craving
a
variety
of
the
most
popular
plates
(with
cleverly
sectioned
off
bowls
that
keep
the
two
entrees
separate),
but
I
went
straight
for
my
tried
and
true
order
of
black
bean
noodles
and
especially
appreciated
that
there
was
a
vegetarian
variety
for
non-meat
eaters
like
me.
I've
never
seen
whole
broccoli
florets
in
my
black
bean
sauce
but
I
appreciated
the
healthful
touch.
Plus
everyone
else
at
the
table
who
ordered
the
regular
kind
seemed
to
be
gazing
enviously
at
my
verdant
pops
of
veg.
The
noodles
are
fresh,
with
just
the
slightest
toothsome
quality,
and
the
sauce
was
just
as
delicious
as
my
parents
promised
it'd
be.
We
also
ordered
some
of
the
spicy
battered
shrimp,
which
ended
up
being
a
little
softer
than
I'd
like,
but
when
a
dish
is
so
saucy,
it's
hard
to
maintain
a
crunchy
batter.
This
was
our
very
first
meal
after
our
plane
touched
down
in
New
York,
and
it'll
likely
be
where
I
have
every
first
meal
henceforth
when
I
visit.
