So much to see! How can everything feel in bloom at the same time? Walked through most the grounds in about 2 hours on a warm Saturday afternoon in July. So cool to feel you've entered some sort of tropics or deserts while in the greenhouses. Oops how did I post so many pictures so quickly?! Oh, because it was a beautiful sight inside and out. I couldn't stop.

This was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. There is way more to see than the eye let's on. The ticket price of $18 is well worth the amount of park to cover. There is also a great indoor area to explore as well. The park sections are well taken care of and it was a true delight to walk the trails and see wildlife in its natural form. We probably spent more time looking at the frogs, tadpoles, and chipmunks than anything else. There is staff readily available anywhere in the park. The Japanese Gardens is definitely a highlight and a must see. However, there is not nearly enough shaded areas to take refuge in during hot summer days in some of the outdoor sections. With little cloud cover the particular Sunday I went, it was too much to continue on and finish the park. The park recommends giving yourself at least 2 hours, but honestly, you should plan for 3 or 4 if you like to stop and observe. It's a great way to spend a large portion of your day.

Honestly always a beautiful place to go for a walk. Excellent area for kids to experience and learn. Little gift shop has some beautiful items. Honestly I could never understand how someone may not like this place. Whether you go by yourself to take pictures or just to clear your mind. Or you're going with a significant other for your entire family and kids. Definitely worth the experience and the money spent. Some may think ticket prices a little high however we fully understand that the ticket price doesn't just pay wages and basic upkeep that it also pays towards donations and contributions to keep this place up and running and growing. You're ever in the area I highly recommend you check this place out.

When I lived in the area we visited frequently and had annual passes. We enjoyed the butterflies in the spring and the train ride at Christmas. In between we never tired of the standing exhibits or special exhibits. Back in the day we could see The Thinker. Today you can see Eve and of course, The American Horse which is an epic sculpture. You'll find the Children's Garden to be charming at any age. You'll be entranced by the Japanese Garden. Other areas you don't want to miss are Michigan's Farm Garden and Sculpture Park. There are also exhibits indoors. If you want to see everything, allow 4-5 hours. It's best though to become a member and return regularly. Plan a trip with a book or a camera and sit in the many well positioned areas to enjoy beauty and tranquility. Also, check frequently for special events including outdoor concerts in the spectacular amphitheater. Below please enjoy some photos below. It's not a complete tour so you'll want to go yourself. Pricing hasn't changed in years so it's still very reasonable. Almost everything is completely accessible except for a few small trails. There is a mobility center with some wheelchairs and scooters (first cone first serve). There is a tram that is narrated if you prefer not to walk. There are some designated picnic areas and some eating options though I didn't see these personally. Parking is plentiful. No smoking. The signage maps are plentiful and strategically placed. The guest guide provided with your ticket is very helpful . Adult ticket is $20; seniors $15.

Enjoyed a visit with the family, this is a must visit! Lots to see, we enjoyed some holiday themed displays, gardens and even the employees where very knowledgeable and willing to engage with patrons looking to learn more. Highly recommend 👌

A rather wonderful space for the community, and travelers alike. The grounds are expansive with meandering trails both shaded and open. The gardens, landscape and hot house vignettes are enjoyable, but lack emphasis on botanical diversity and content. Dominant use of hybrids and ordinary nursery stock used creatively to provide aesthetic balance. There are a lot of sculptures, large and small. The diversity of styles is impressive and each provide a plaque to note artist and title while leaving the interpretation to the viewer. The amphitheatre is beautiful and offers a unique space to partake in cultural performances. It is the very reason I had the pleasure of visiting this venue, being on tour with a music concert. Absolutely all the staff and volunteers, from every department and level of position are friendly, helpful and accommodating. There is tram service that tours the grounds for those that want or need a way to see everything. An on-site cafe offers uncomplicated yet fresh food for a variety of dietary needs and tastes, with options for indoor and outdoor seating. If you're visiting with children you will not be alone, there are a variety of spaces geared to offer safe and entertaining areas for the young ones. Generally speaking the venue is large enough that those desiring more peaceful contemplation of their surroundings will not feel neglected.

This garden is absolutely stunning and worth every penny. The entire garden is perfectly kept and you could easily spend your entire day here. Not only is it nice to look at and explore it's a great place for photos. The garden is kid friendly and has tons of activities to keep busy. There's easy access to many bathrooms spread about the garden and lots of drinking fountains and places to recycle or throw items away. There's places to eat snacks from home or eating from their personal Cafe. Overall i enjoyed every second of being here and would highly recommend going.

Had a really great time! My in-laws have the grandparents membership and it's totally worth it, this place is extremely family friendly. The indoor gardens are stunning and the kids loved watching the mini train go by! There's a kids playroom on another level as well if you need a break from all the noise. We mainly went for the Christmas around the world exhibit, which is so beautiful I just wish they had the space to do every county. Staff was also wonderful!!

The sculpture park is a highlight of this establishment, featuring an impressive collection of outdoor sculptures from renowned artists. As you stroll through the gardens, you’ll encounter striking sculptures set against lush landscapes, creating a harmonious interplay between art and nature. The pieces range from classical to contemporary, ensuring there’s something for everyone to appreciate. The botanical gardens within the park are equally captivating. They showcase an array of plants, including tropical, arid, and seasonal displays, making it a year-round destination. The conservatory is a real gem, housing a diverse collection of exotic plants and seasonal flower displays. It’s an ideal place to escape the cold Michigan winters. The children’s Garden is a fantastic space filled with interactive exhibits and activities, making it both fun and educational for kids. Educational programs and events are often hosted here, making it a valuable resource for learning about horticulture and art.

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is an enchanting destination that offers a perfect harmony of indoor and outdoor beauty. The indoor aspect features a breathtaking butterfly conservatory that is simply stunning. The vibrant colors and delicate fluttering of the butterflies create a captivating experience. On the outdoor front, the park offers scenic views that are equally impressive. From well-manicured gardens to picturesque landscapes, the outdoor aspect of the park is a visual treat. Whether you're exploring the butterfly conservatory or enjoying the serene outdoor scenery, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is a place of unmatched beauty and tranquility.

My husband took me here as a surprise day trip and I was absolutely floored by how amazing this place was! I never seen so many incredibly cool sculptures and artwork and so much historical things and then the best part we hadn't even got to the BEST PART yet which was the butterfly gardens. Butterflies are my most favorite thing in the whole world and it was so jaw dropping, they land on you, they're everywhere! So beautiful!! they're so colorful and amazing! The butterfly House where the butterflies live the best life ever in itself is absolutely breathtaking! Everybody in the world should come visit this place! There's only one negative the line is so so long but that's understandable they do their best to work you through fast so come early.

Such a beautiful place, even in the winter. We went early on a Thursday and it was very quiet and not too busy. The biomes were lovely and all of the art is wonderful. Be sure to check out the floors, as they’re also an art installation! 1650 different bronze pieces, all different and placed by hand by the artist! Looking forward to going back to see the butterflies!

A awesome place to spend the day. So much to see and enjoy. Tons of waterfalls, ponds, lakes, and sculptures. Countless photo opportunities. And a great place to make special memories. Lots of indoor and covered areas.

An amazing and beautiful place to visit in West Michigan. Highly recommend doing the 45 minute tram tour to view many of the sculptures on the grounds with narration. We spent over an hour in the Japanese Garden and it is the most amazing spot in the park. The children's garden area is fun and has a really cool tree fort. You need all day to even try and see everything. We spent 3 hours there and did the tram, Japanese Garden and Children's Garden.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I couldn't even begin to say enough wonderful things about these gardens! And the sculptures too! My parents brought me here years ago when it was a lot closer to its original opening and it certainly has grown and FLOURISHED! The pictures speak for themselves as to the beauty of the entire place. But the workers are just as beautiful. Everyone was so kind, helpful, friendly, and happy! A truly pleasant and peaceful place to be! Thank you so much, Frederik Meijer Gardens, for an amazing day and memories that will last forever!

FM Gardens and Sculpture Park is one of the gems of Michigan (the whole country, really!) I’ve been a member over the years, and they keep making a great place even better. I go there often, to walk amongst the beautiful grounds, and to see the art - they have over 200 sculptures by world-class artists! If you have kids (I took mine when they were little and now bring my granddaughter) there is a special children’s garden full of interactive things to do, as well as an awesome indoor play area. The whole place is a wonderland for children, full of plants and wildlife, including swans and geese and ducks and turtles and frogs in the wetlands boardwalk area. And there is a great cafe, wonderful gift shop, picnic area where you can bring your own food, and plenty of spotlessly clean restrooms :) They also offer many special events, including parties and concerts, and things like the butterflies in the spring and holiday trees from around the world in late fall. If you haven’t been, I recommend it as one of the top things to do in Grand Rapids!

This is one of the few five star reviews I have given. I never thought that I'd be impressed by a botanical garden, but after being here, I proved that suspicion was wrong. There was so much to see here and if it were not for a hungry sibling, we would have loved to explore more. To me, it seemed like we were there for hours and that there was still so much more left to see. They feature many elegant sculptures (and the iconically large bronze horse one would be one everyone should see if you go here). They feature an amphitheater, many different gardens (indoor and outdoor) and it's impossible to escape viewing amazing scenery everywhere you go. I would certainly recommend going here not only for botanical and horticultural lovers, but everyone to go and visit the Meijer Botanical Gardens.

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is an absolutely amazing world class garden. This158-acre botanical garden, art museum, and outdoor sculpture park is a must see if you are in the Grand Rapids area and are into Garden's. The architecture of the buildings are worth seeing alone. We were particularly amazed by the Japanese Gardens and the greenhouse. They also have a Children's Garden and Farm garden as well as an amphitheater that hosts some of the biggest names in music. Allow at least 4-5 hours and be ready to walk.

What a fun way to spend the afternoon! There's lots to see.. so many pretty plants & trees along the many pathways. They have a neat children's play area. Make sure to bring drinking water!! It's a long walk, but we seen everything within 2 hours.. if you're wanting to move slower and take your time you could easily spend all day here tho. The greenhouse was really neat, lots of tropical plants & trees.. the cactus room is amazing also! As for the art.. well it's was ok. I'm not big into art so most of it didn't impress me. A few that were neat tho was the giant horse, arch, and electricity one(pictured)

Four of us met here for an afternoon of peaceful conversation and beauty. We started with a delicious lunch in the cafe. Each of us had a different dish, each of them unique and tasty. We took a long, leisurely walk through the Japanese garden and achieved the peaceful beauty we came for. The Garden has grown vastly since I was there last. There is so much to see inside and out. We ran out of time, but we decided to return in a couple months when we can stay longer and see more.

This place is amazing. Could have spent a few more hours if we didn't have to travel. We will definitely be back. Watch the short movie about the marble faces. It helps understand the meaning behind the room. Lunch was good as well.

Had a lot to do and was not very crowded. Went when the butterflies were already released and it was very nice to see. Kind of cold when we went so didn't get to explore everything. Will be back on a warmer day.

A wonderful 184 acre experience! Pleasantly surprised by how good this place was. A must see if you're in the area - plan at least a couple hours and take the tram tour for lots of great information about the sculptures.

Such a beautiful place to have a perfect day on a date, as a family, or solo. It’s peaceful & clean, the grounds are meticulously maintained. There are plenty bathrooms & the gardens are unostentatiously accessible to all. The children’s garden is lovely for kids of all ages. The gift shop & cafe are actually reasonably priced. Nancy helped us at the ticket counter today & she was a friendly expert. 10/10

Beautiful facility...enriching art, sculptures and landscaping. We took our grands who found the children's area fun. The only knock, we prepared them for potential encounters with butterfly with a teaching moment about the need for pollinators when we learned the butterfly come out in April and May. Next trip we'll make the adjustment.

Always a beautiful place to walk around. I went early on a Sunday & it was very peaceful. I would definitely recommend. During busy times it's faster to purchase tickets online. The butterfly exhibit is nice. Very hot & crowded. But lots of butterflies everywhere! You won't be disappointed. Also a display of butterfly cocoons which was nice. Japanese gardens are wonderful to walk. Wear good walking shoes & enjoy!

Pretty neat place. Cool to try at least once, I don't know if it's worth going back too. The food they offer at the Cafe is unique buy too expensive for the portion size. The whole place is more of a sculpture nature walk than a garden. Overall, took a group of 7 adults to finish within 3 hours without taking any breaks. Staff is really sweet.

Wife and I enjoy visiting the Frederick Meijer Gardens every couple years spending a day walking among the sculptures and gardens. Plus the most wonderful Japanese garden which is our favorite! Enjoy a great lunch in the restaurant on site. There is a tour tram, but if you want to experience the garden up close be prepared for walking. We highly recommend!

  • 5/5 J.V. 1 year ago on Google
So, I know that depending on the time of year this place can have quite a few different surprises to behold. Its a sculpture park, children’s park, art exhibit, nature preserve, butterfly exhibit, amphitheater, Japanese Garden (with a tea house), AND an indoor mini desert that then connects to a greenhouse forest. I mean come on! They even have a food hall and a gift shop. Seriously this place is ridiculous in the best of ways and over the years its only gotten bigger. I would recommend taking 3-4 hours to fully enjoy all that’s available . I was able to nonstop walk through most of it in about 2 hours but that was without meandering at all and only pausing to take pictures and grab a drink. But lets be honest if you have kids with you just accept it’s going to be an all day trip. If you enjoy Fields of wildflowers, walking aimlessly around staring at scenic views, and maybe learning a bit. This is for you. I wish the ticket price was a bit cheaper but in this case, due to the things that they offer during different times of the year it can be justified.

Beautiful park with lots to see, can spend an entire day here and possibly not see absolutely everything. I took the tram tour which was a lot of fun, and allowed for seeing a lot of the main areas/sculptures while also learning about them and beating the heat. Somewhat difficult to get good photos without extra human subjects. An excellent place for a visit or a date - great for all ages.

This place is beautiful. My family has visited here for a long time. It is truly a magical place to come, relax, and enjoy nature and art. The membership is a great deal, especially if you live in the area.

WOW!!😯😍 Such an amazingly beautiful and awesome place!! We spent 4hours walking through most of the inside and we ate lunch there too. It was raining outside, and this was a perfect place to go on a rainy day. BUT we have to go back to walk through all of the outside. I did walk outside to see a couple fountains real quick, but there is SO much more that I want to see. They have very detailed and handy maps that you can get from staff. You can take a tram tour through most of the outside gardens. This place is just unbelievable, and sooo worth the price. If I lived near by, I'd get a membership forsure. The cafe is amazing too, and has so many neat options to choose from.

  • 5/5 Kevin W. 1 year ago on Google
Wow. I am not sure why I didn't expect a lot, but calling it a gardens and sculpture park does not do it justice. Great place. You could easily spend a leisurely day here and not get bored. At a quick pace, you need at least half a day. We didn't have a full day, so we went leisurely and enjoyed much of it, leaving plenty more to see. Point being. Take your time, there is plenty to see and enjoy.

  • 5/5 Gabriel K. 9 months ago on Google
A huge, sprawling park of art. You can easily spend hours here and still not see everything. Every corner of the park has something to take away and learn from, from the sculptures to the nature preserves and the carefully maintained gardens. Genuinely one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. BRING WATER - the water fountains are few and far between.

  • 5/5 sara j. 11 months ago on Google
This place is lovely! There is a massive greenhouse with adorable birds, as well as a gift shop, restaurant, and (on the day I went) a bonsai competition. The restaurant is actually really good and has the best bacon mac n cheese I've ever had (I'm still thinking about it). The tour is over an hour, even on the wagon things, but it is very cool and you get to see the whole garden.

Beautiful place I had been wanting to visit for a while now. Spent about 5hours there and spent hours at the butterfly garden, admired tulips and a few sculptures. The cherry blossom was my favorite and a must see if found at pick. I totally plan to go back explore more. There are a few nice picnic areas and saw a couple playgrounds for the kids. Restrooms were clean, signs are well marked so you won't have to wonder where to find them. The areas I got to explore were wheelchair accessible and worth visiting. One day is surely not enough to see the entire place - as expected 🙂

In all the 30+ years I've lived in Michigan, I had never been to Meijer Gardens. It's big and has lots of exhibits, gardens, water features and sculptures. They had a good size children's garden with an interactive water feature of the great lakes. We only had about 3 hours to see as much as we could. I would recommend at least 6 hours to really see everything. It's wheelchair accessible everywhere you go. They do have a picnic pavilion at the front of the gardens.

  • 5/5 Kelly 9 months ago on Google
You can easily spend all day here. There are so many different things to see and experience. There is a wetland area that you can just watch the blue herons, turtles, frogs and other wildlife enjoy. There are sculptures and art galore. Beautiful landscape and flowers everywhere. Such a peaceful serene atmosphere all over that makes it wonderful it just walk through. There is also a kids area that is interactive with splash pad and more.

We last visited many years ago and the property has expanded and developed quite a bit since then. This is an all day trip. The only downside is the downside is the on site cafe is a little limited. That being said, reentry is allowed so you can go off site for lunch and then return. If you are visiting in the summer be sure to bring a hat, water bottles to refill, and a good pair of walking shoes. The children's garden is very well developed and full of activities that will keep younger children entertained. Much of the site is wheelchair accessible. There are many paths that are not, if they say that a path is "rough and uneven" it is not wheelchair accessible. Definitely worth the price of admission. Parking is on site and was free when we were there.
