Beginning at the parking lot, we kept steering ourselves left all the way up the trail. I would rate this hike a level 1 on distance to the top of the look out, but a 4 out of 5 for steepness. I’m not quite in shape and I definitely was panting before reaching the top. This picnic table was at the top of this route. There were also multiple ways back down, some quicker than others. Very lovely over look of the valley and south of the river.

Always a fantastic walk here. The trails are more challenging than a lot of the western suburbs and it’s for walking only, no bikes. There are some picnic tables, a porta potty and also fresh spring water for drinking (just read the caution sign.) Big views over the river valley !!

I've lived in EP for 32 years and never went here until recently. Such a hidden gem. Good workout walking up the hills and awesome views of the river valley from up top. Trails are not super long, but there's a few of them and they're quite scenic.

Gorgeous location with really great hiking. Definitely worth visiting. Ends on a great Lookout of Bluffs and it has maps throughout. There’s a little stream with all kinds of bridges. It is a great place to kill the day.

This park is great for picnics, hiking and just viewing nature. I think great for kids imaginations as there are many great areas to explore and build forts. Great workout with many hills. Lovely view of the valley from the bluffs. Picnic area and portable pottys are a great perk.

I absolutely love this hiking trail. Probably one of the only few areas in the metro where you can hike up and down some hills. Very well maintained, great to be on during any time of the year!

First time hiking around here. The elevation changes are significant for a Minnesota hike but the views definitely make it worth it. There are lot of unofficial trails that looked interesting to explore. We didn't go through all of them because we were time limited but seems like a place we will return! Also cool spring that runs where you can fill water.

Great park with hilly trails leading to some great views and stunning native flower finds. I only had time to hike one trail, and it had a few spur trails that are smaller and wind through the woods but things are pretty open in the spring allowing you to have a good idea of where you are. Parking area isn't huge and 1 potra potty at the parking lot. Great picnic spot.

The area is nice and there are trails to hike and places to picnic and stuff like that. The parking is at the bottom of some bluffs and you can hike through the trees on unpaved trails to the top and see some decent views. There's not much parking so I wouldn't be surprised if the lot fills up regularly. It was full when we parked and still full when we left about an hour later. We were there after some decent rains in the last month or so, as a result some of the trails are pretty washed out. It's not unsafe, but it's not super easy going either. We thought the trails weren't marked very well, so we ended up going in circles for a little bit. In the end we ended up leaving before getting around to much of the area. So do better than we did and sort of pay attention to the trail maps (which are small, but they are posted frequently) or use an app to keep from trapseing up and down the bluffs if that's not what you're hoping for.

Great place for a hike or walk with good views. Love that it's free. Only negative is it's close to the road so depending what trail you take it can be slightly noisy.

Wonderful natural area for a hike. The paths could be a bit better marked as it’s kind of easy to get turned around. Also it’s basically treated as an off leash dog park.

Loved that I didn't have to drive hours away to go on a nature hike. I would recommend big spray and water on a hot day. If you have trouble walking bring trekking poles as some parts are a little hilly but the average person should have no problems. There are benches along the way to rest even though we did not utilize these

Great park with lots of natural trails that lead to great views with good photo opportunities. Some of the trails can be a bit challenging so you can get a good workout as well.

Love coming here to fill our water jugs, we purposely use smaller jugs so we can easily fit them under the spouts. Since there are 2 spouts we can fill 2 jugs at a time, there is hardly ever a line and the water always tastes amazing! Great place to get free water from the earth. Also great trails and views to walk if you have the time.

Beautiful hiking area with plenty of vertical gain! Great place for trail running and challenging hiking. Marked reasonably well with signs.

A terrific place for a walk. The trails are well maintained. There is a spring adjacent to the lower parking lot where the public can access refreshing spring water. From the upper parking lot there is a terrific view overlooking the Minnesota River Valley.

Hidden gem, great for a family outing or a solo adventure. There are several trail options and you can choose your own level of difficulty. Minnesota River Valley view is reward waiting at the top. Watch the sunset or just relax and watch the landscape. The wetland is preserved and you're looking at the same view as a humans from centuries ago. When walking in the shortest path to the top is to stay to the left (WEST) and take the first trail up on the left. The right (EAST) side is more gradual incline; more mixed prairie/woodland.

It is a nice place to hike close to the cities with decent views. I have been there in various seasons but like most places it is best in the Fall. People also visit the lot to take water from the well.

One of the best places to hike or trail run in the whole metro area. Great climbs and killer views. Compared to most local parks the trails are much more technical.

  • 5/5 Kelli R. 3 years ago on Google
Nice place for a family hike. Moderate intensity in some places. We really liked the maps along the way to keep us on track. Not stroller-friendly as there are areas with stairs.

All dirt trails that go deep inside a wooded area surrounded by rich people's houses. although there is only about 2 mi of trail it consists of many loops up and down little valleys with lots of creeks along the way

Great views and I nice place to hike. Can get a bit icy in the winter and early spring. Can also be muddy and slippery diring snow melt or a lot of rain.

Love the shaded trails. There's 1 that is steep. There's also another that is gentler but longer. Both go to same summit which has a wide view of MN River and Shakopee. I prefer going there when snow is on the ground--no bugs and I enjoy the challenge to not fall.
