Amazingly busy, but this is a great way to get out of the house and have cheap fun! The newer aircraft viewing area near UPS and Fed Ex centers is really good. The best in the summer. Grab a picnic lunch and let the kids run while studying aeronautics! Be sure to download both the Flight Aware and Live ATC apps. Brings what you are seeing to life. You can track inbound and outbound flights and know where they've been or going.

What a fun place to go!! It's a nice area where you watch airplanes coming in for a landing, as well as them taking off. I am always fascinated watching these massive planes take flight like it's nothing. It is a great place to sit for a while, and of course if you are a photo enthusiast like myself...it's a good place to bring your camera along too.

Great place to see airplanes. Enthousiasts den! Perfectly sitting beside the runway making it an optimal place to see aircrafts taking off and landing. Perfect photo spot. Picnic tables available to enjoy some takeout while watching planes fly and taxi right by you. We enjoyed car meals very well too. Usually calm. Very good for family gatherings if your kiddos love airplanes. Open from dawn till dusk. Cargo planes taxi right by you since they have their hanger next to the viewing area. Very enjoyable spot!

Was recommended this area by a friend in college. First, it's super fun to get there. You go under a couple under passes which planes go over on top when they taxi. The viewing area was great for some landing when I went. It's a good idea to have a real time ATC radar up on your phone. It will give you information about incoming, taxiing, and outgoing planes. Plus you can see what kind of plane it is too which was helpful!

Love it! Great area, lots of space and it's free! My kids and I go 2-3 times a year. What runways are used depends on wind direction. So you might see a lot of landings 1 day, and take offs another.

We need more places like this in airports. Always a great spot to relax and witness the miracle of manned flight!

Really enjoyed taking my toddler here! Not a ton of seats or tables, and we happened to come when it was pretty busy, but clean and free and a great activity for airplane-lovers.

One of the better viewing area’s that I’ve been to. I personally prefer CVG in aka Cincinnati Northern Kentucky viewing are but MSP ranks 2nd in my book. Parking area is small so you might want to pick non peak hours. Also seems to be a lot of local that come in and think they own the joint by setting up stepladder’s and or standing on benches or picnic tables. I was MSP I would yank those out

Absolutely love this place! Just visited earlier today (Sunday) and it was amazing! Great set-up with a few amenities including, a picnic table, benches, porta potty, free parking, and no entry fee. Amazing views of planes taxiing, taking off, and landing. When I went it was moderately busy and people came in and out. Great place to go spotting! Definitely recommend!

A great place to get away from it all and observe aviation. Since MSP Airport is multiuse, you will see everything from commercial aircraft, cargo planes, the Minnesota Air National Guard, private aircraft, and even Air Force One when the President comes to town. Picnic tables are available. It would be awesome if there were restrooms available.

Cool hidden gem! You can park really close to the runways and watch planes takeoff or land. There are some benches here for you to sit on as well.

Great place to bring yourself and loved ones to watch airplanes takeoff and land. Limited benches/tables and garbage bins. Sufficient parking for up to 25. Small grass area if you'd like to do a small picnic or allow a toddler to walk around. Make sure to bring a hat because there is no shade whatsoever.

I love taking my kids here. We'll grab some McDonalds and sit in the back of our minivan with the trunk open watching the planes. My favorite hidden gem in the area! The only catch is there's no bathroom.

Easy to access. Great views of a few different runways. You get to see planes take off and land. There are benches and picnic tables, so on a nice day you could be outside watching, and the noise isn’t bad at all.

I did a photography assignment for college recently. Perfect position to see takeoffs, landings, and taxing. I got an amazing photo of an Amazon Air taking off. I would totally come back for more photos or spotting.

The MSP Aircraft Viewing Area is a great place to watch aircraft land and take off. Located perfectly along side of a taxiway and runway, one is very close to the activity at MSP. The area has many parking spots and is a perfect place for plane spotters and families alike. There are benches, a picnic style table, where one can get out of their vehicle to watch as well. Perfect place to pack up snacks or a meal and watch! Bring a pair of binoculars and download the Flightradar 24 app to enhance your experience!

You get a great view of the runways, a couple of nice benches and a flurry of chipmunks to keep you company between landings. What more could you ask for?

This is such a calming spot to sit and watch planes come in and out. Depending on what time of day or what day of the week you go, the amount of cars next to you obstructing your view can vary. Whether you're an aviation nerd or just someone who likes to watch planes, this is a great place for it all.

Such a sick little spot to look at planes. Not many other people and the drive to it was great since you got to see other planes in the hangers.

I love coming to the viewing area at MSP! I love watching airplanes take-off, land, and taxi. This public viewing area is such a great addition to the airport!

You will almost have to use Google map for certain to find this place as it zigzags in-and-out of various parts of the airport. But the payout is worth it if you like just standing on the edge of offense and watching airplanes come and go. It is So nice that it place like this was set aside for those of us who like to watch the planes.

Great place to not only view planes but meet very knowledgeable people. Small to med. parking lot with a few benches, some explanatory signage and two picnic tables. It’s a long drive onto the airport, when you feel you went to far you’re only halfway there.
