I was pretty optimistic going into this place but that changed very quickly. Don’t get me wrong- I love a good hole in the wall. This was definitely that, but without the good food. I ordered the filet, and coming from a butchers daughter- that was 100% not a filet. It was chewy and overcooked. The environment itself is run down, and unappealing. I see reviews raving about the toast…but I’m so confused why. It was so dry and uneventful. No flavor to be found….the steak sauce didn’t even save me.

Located in a little strip mall of down town Farmington is a little gem of a place, Farmington Steak house. I’ve been coming to this restaurant off and on since I was young. There’s a nostalgia with coming here for me, it’s not the best steak you can get in the world but for the price you get a good meal from friendly folks who know their regulars and their lives. It’s very hometown feel, almost like a home cook meal; potato, toast, steak and a salad. Grab a tray, place your order by the time you pay the steak is done. It’s an enjoyable meal.

The photo did not do justice on the ribeye steak. It's a no frill eatery. Ordering is like from a cafeteria. State your main entrée, and pick up your sides from food display and pay at the end. No server either. For that price of $14.50 for the Friday and Saturday special, you can't ask for more. Will come back for other days special like T-bone steak for $15! Updated: I went back for T-bone. It was not as impressive as ribeye. Chewy and overdone when I asked for medium rare.

We went at the perfect time! Right after the lunch rush. The staff was pleasant and friendly. Our steaks were prepared just how we wanted them. Our friend ordered the chicken breasts, and it was so moist and tender. Such a generous portion, so much so she took at least half home. All the seasonings enhanced all the meats. I had the beef barley soup instead of the salad and it was delicious. We definitely will be going back as we have and always invite friends with us. There is nothing fancy about the place. But it's comfortable and affordable and even relaxing!

First and last time . My kids and I decided to try this place not only they take cash but really bad service. Got charge extra for drinks that I didn't even ask for. My kids are 6 and 9 and the lady charge me for adult burgers instead of kids burgers like I had asked . Also at no point did I ask for drinks and she gave me 3 cups and charge me without asking me . She also assumed my kids ages . Fries where burnt ,steak was red undercooked and I can't have undercooked meat since I'm pregnant. She told me if I didn't like how they run to not come back . She was really rude. So disappointed.

Good food, very generous portions, terrific local family-run business. Been eating here for almost 20 years now. Your appetite will be satisfied here, guaranteed. Very fair prices, but bring CASH or a local check only. No credit cards accepted here. The Kwik Trip just up the street has a no-fee ATM. I have no problem paying cash; it keeps the prices down. The credit card companies' transaction fees can really hit a small business hard, and of course those fees have to be passed on to the customer. So bring your cash, have a good, fulfilling meal, and support a local business.

Our food was very good. We didn't know what to expect when we got there but quickly fell into step and figured it all out. It is cafeteria style and you serve most of it yourself. You cannot go wrong with the steak and shrimp, though all of the orders around us looked delicious. The prices are very low and the portions large. We both got 10oz ribeye (though I don't think was only 10oz on either plate) and 4 shrimp, baked potato, Texas toast, soda pop, one of us had soup, the other a salad and a side order of mushrooms and our total was only $32! The atmosphere is very cozy, small town, and comfortable. The staff was awesome, friendly and helpful.

We have been coming to FSH for 8+ years and now we live in Farmington ourselves. We love this plan and highly recommend. The gyro sandwich is exquisite and we have been getting it weekly now. It is so so good. The pricing on all menu items, especially the “specials” are outstanding. 15/10 recommend. PS - you don’t have to park on the main road. There is a parking lot in the back and it took be 8+ years to realize that

Cafeteria style ordering with very good food at very reasonable prices. Ribs fall off the bone with a good sauce and tons of meat. Steak burgers very good. Good soup. Wonderful experience.

This is one of our favorites. It's 40 minutes away from our home but it worth the long drive. It's kids friendly and the staff is very kind and nice. The food is delicious and the prices are very inexpensive. Just have in mind they only take cash.

If you are looking for fine dinning...this isn't your place. If you are looking for good food at an excellent price then you are in luck. The steakhouse is Farmington staple...it's been there since I can remember. The menu hasn't changed much, and it's cafeteria style dining... But it has never disappointed me. The serving sizes are large, the price is good, the friendly service is efficient. Pro tip: bring cash...I don't believe card is accepted.

Always a great meal! Taste good with healthy portions. Under the radar menu item is their fried chicken, super crispy and juicy

Not fancy but that's great!!! Come as you are. Can't beat the prices or portions. 10 oz Ribeye was more like 16 oz. They noted the smaller size of the baked potato and just added a 2nd to my plate. Didn't realize it was cash or check only. While our family of 5 stood there with full plates and no cash or checkbook thinking "uhm...now what?", the nice women working the cash register says "we just ask that come back after you eat with payment."

No-frills, great value! Farmington Steak House doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. It's a throwback to a simpler time. As of right now, they don't have a website. Heck, they don't even accept credit cards (cash or check only). It's about as simple and streamlined an eating experience as you'll get, and the amazingly low prices reflect that. You'll walk in, take an immediate left, and you'll find yourself in a cafeteria-style line (old-fashioned green tray included) where you peruse the wall-posted menu and marvel at the prices. Place your order with the man who will be grilling your meat, grab a premade side-salad from the cooler shelf, shuffle forward toward the cashier. Your steak will probably be ready by the time you pay. Then it's off to your old church-basement-style table and chairs. This place might not be fancy enough for some people, but the steak... SO TASTY. They obviously know what they're doing. They keep it simple and they do it well. We didn't need any sauces. It was a great steak for 1/3 what you may pay somewhere else that has a booth. I can hardly cook a steak for this cost at home, and it sure won't taste this good. I'm a fan of Farmington Steak House's humble, unassuming atmosphere, friendly service, and amazing value.

Great tasting food, large portions, and inexpensive. The atmosphere is a bit on the dated side but definitely a gem in the city. You know you've found on when there's a line of about 20 folks waiting to order.. Well worth the wait.

We stood in line at the counter for at least 15 minutes (which is unusual here) before getting our food. We had the Friday & Saturday special, ribeye steak ($5) and the gyro dinner ($12). The ribeye was cooked perfectly medium rare. The gyro dinner was tender and had loads of meat on it. The baked potatoes had plenty of butter and the peels were deliciously crisp. The homemade beef barley soup was good and had nice sized, tender chunks of beef. The salad was nothing more than crisp iceberg. Oh, don't forget to bring cash, as they do not take cards!

Fast fresh steak, potato, salad, Texas Toast all for a super budget price. The decor needs a carpet refresh and new paint. The steak is tougher since the pandemic. Still a great place to get a full hot just cooked meal.

Cafeteria style where you order and they cook right in front of you. Absolutely love this place! I always get the steak sandwich add cheese, basically a cheeseburger but on Texas toast, oh so good! Highly recommend this place! It is fairly cheap compared to any other places now a days! Oh and cash or check only! No credit cards!

Reasonably priced. I ordered a medium rare and got a medium rare. This doesn't happen often at other places. I would love to see this place add some flair to the food. More spices, toppings, ext... But overall very pleased with service and food.

If you are used to eating in upscale restaurants then you will be underwhelmed. I had steak and shrimp. Thinking of the dinner last night my mouth hurts. The meat was tough, the fries were not as good. There is nothing in my plate that i say was good except the jalapeños. If you like big portions and cheap food then certainly give it a shot. The most expensive steak is the massive t-bone steak and is $20.00. The old saying goes you get what you pay for.

Nice family restaurant. The steak was very tender and done to my order. Very reasonable prices. Daily specials are very reasonable and you get a lot of food. Two people could eat off of one order.

My husband and I came for 1st time. We shared the tbone dinner and chicken dinner. It was delicious. We found everyone very friendly that worked there as well as others customers. The busboy cleaned each table and sprayed disinfectant on them. We also thought it was very well kept up for such a busy restaurant. Bathrooms clean also. When we left, the owners thanked us and said good bye. We're going to return. Don't listen to all the bad reviews. We are glad we didn't.

We read an article online about this established, but unknown little taste of heaven! Last night, we drove almost 2 hours to Farmington to experience it ourselves! Boy! Are we glad we did! Truly was cafeteria style! Little quirky but efficient! Place was packed, and that's a good thing!! Loved the steak! Loved the toast! Loved the soup! More than satisfied with our meals! Plan to be back!!! Best kept secret in Minnesota! Who knew??!

Great steak for a great price. Very clean facility and friendly staff. This is a excellent family restaurant that would be perfect for a family outing. Bring cash though no credit or debit.

Umm, I gave it 5 stars because it's great value for money! It's not a 5-star restaurant, but the food is tasty, plentiful and cheap! If that's what you're looking for (I usually am), then Farmington Steakhouse is hard to beat. I had the BBQ pork ribs, with a small salad, Texas toast and iced tea. The ribs were on special for less than $10!

First time at this lovely establishment. The service was above and beyond, the experience was priceless and the food was absolutely amazing. Cannot wait to go back. If you've never been and want to try something new, go check it out. Note: this location is Cash Only!

Love coming here they are always nice. The food it's delicious nothing is frozen it is all fresh and very good and I like how they are very educated. And this place is also very cheap I've gone with about 11 people and the total is close to 200 dollars and the food is big sized portions with a drink and two pieces of bread. All in all I really like this place because they always welcome me and everyone that goes there the reason I like going there is because they show kindness to everyone to make it equal.
