Had a wonderful Saturday taking the family here. Lots and lots of different exhibits. In a covid world it is surprising that they have as much hands on exhibits but they do their best at keep wash stations available everywhere. Most of the exhibits seem to do well to get the kids to want to interact and learn/see how things work which is wonderful! Also had fun trying to find all the Lego people hiding in displays!!

My daughter, sister and I had a really great time here today. We learned so many new things. However due to covid there isn't a Cafe there anymore. You can leave and come back though. I highly recommend going here for kids 6 and up. The prices are a little high. However if you have EBT you can get in for $3. Parking was only $5. Pretty good deal. They do have a gift shop as well. Of course things are way over priced. But we still bought a few things.

First time coming here and I was so impressed with the set up and the variety of things to see here. There are activities for kids to enjoy and very interactive. I loved the view from the outside. Ramp parking is $10. You can buy tickets online. There’s a small cafe and stirs inside also. 4 floors of things to see.

Always a fun place to visit. The dinosaur skeletons are impressive. The interactive exhibits are interesting. Always fun for kids to explore. In the winter, the $3 lockers for coats are totally worth it.

Definitely recommend great place for kids and adults. And if you are going to come here more than once I would recommend yearly pass. Also it's better coming in middle of week we chose Monday and it was great not too busy, was a lot of parking space.

Very interesting science, electronic, sports, national Mississippi water, and Mayen exhibits. I didn’t find the dinosaur exhibit interesting. There is a very large astronaut which was pretty cool. The big pipe thing was an auditory display of earthquakes.

We had a lot of fun! There were so many activities to entertain kids, could easily spend the whole day here but our daughter tuckered out after 4 hours. Would love to go again!

Hands down one of the coolest museums (kid or adult) that I’ve been to in the country. It’s got something for everyone… whether you’re a science nerd like me, or not- it will definitely capture your interest. I loved the electricity and magnetism area, and the sports science exhibits. The kids loved the anatomy/physiology area and all of the hands-on activities. We left that day with two curious kiddos, asking tons of “why?” and “how?” questions. This place should be a mandatory field trip stop for all local schools. I didn’t grow up in MN so I didn’t have anything like this as a kid. What a cool place.

The Science Museum of Minnesota is always great. The permanent exhibits are well maintained and well done, the rotating exhibits right now are on Mayan Culture and race... both are pretty cool!

Fun and very educational for not only kids but adults too. Three levels to explore all filled with fun activities to do as you’re learning. Parking attached to building and you just take the elevator right up to the museum. Before entering, there’s a place for snacks and drinks.

Oh yes! A worthwhile visit! We plan to return. Most impressive was the unexpected FUN experience when a dinosaur trainer/manager showed up with his HUGE walking "baby dinosaur" greeting visitors. That was quite the memorable experience for the children! They talked about it all the way home 😃

We had a wonderful time here. There is so much to do and explore. Lots of displays to learn from and tons of hands on science to play with. What an extraordinary experience! I wish I had taken pictures of all the hands-on stuff! But I like dinosaurs!

As a member, I've visited many times and it's always a great outing for me and the kids (3-7). I was inspired to write specifically today about the Christopher Marley exhibit... incredible. I was astonished at the painstaking arrangements, incredible colors, and detailed notes on taxonomy, morphology, etc that informs the pieces. Were I alone today, I could have spent hours (but not quite able with kiddo attention spans). Worth a visit in it's own right.

The Science Museum of Minnesota is definitely a highlight of the Twin Cities! Becoming members will pay for itself in two visits, as it includes a free IMAX ticket each time. We thoroughly enjoyed the many levels of exhibits, including the interactive Sportsology ones. The higher levels also feature incredible views of the city and of the Mississippi River. There was way more than we could adequately explore in one visit, and we are already anticipating our return trip!

My first time going to the Science Museum of Minnesota was great. It was busy with kids, which I had expected before going since it was a Sunday. There was a great array of exhibits and I loved all of them—the fact that the science museum has an exhibit about race as a construct is amazing. The parking was a little tricky (especially since the driveway to the parking garage is so tiny). The gift shop is super cute and they even sell some unique D&D dice! There are also lots of interactive exhibits that are entertaining for adults and kids alike.

Fantastic science museum. I went to see the Exquisite Creatures special exhibit by Christopher Marley and I was blown away! I easily spent over 2 hours in the gallery enjoying the beautiful plants and animals. None of the animals were killed for the exhibit. The animals died while in captivity and the bodies were preserved. The sea creatures were the bycatch from trawlers. And the insects are a sustainable catch from locals who are paid in the hopes to reduce the amount of rainforest burning for new farmland. The rest of the museum was great with engaging exhibits on dinosaurs, the human body, bogus medical treatments, and race.

Most of the exhibits are closed. However, my kid had fun overall. The sports exhibits were unique and very interactive! It kept my little occupied. He loved it. We got to see the dinosaurs and it did frightened my little one, it was really fun to see one out and about.

Awesome science museum! I've been to many different science museums all over the US and this is the best one! Plan to spend 3+ hours. Friday was too busy with summer camps while Sunday was the perfect volume. From hands-on to high tech you will not be disappointed. Also, the gift shop had the best selection of science items...well thought out!

It was a nice place to visit, always great to go through all the science behind things. It is a little small I would think, but it's nice if you are bringing someone for the first time to a museum. I loved th giant astronaut in there and of course, fossils. I must say, and don't want to sound hateful, after having visited the science and industry museum in Chicago, I was not that impressed by this one, but I had fun.

We had an amazing day as a family. We all had so much fun and were kept busy for 4 1/2 hours and we still could have seen more. The membership is a sweet deal and my husband and I don't know why we waited this long to get one. We will go back soon. By the way, the cafe was good and reasonably priced. I got the vegan salad (only vegan item on the menu) and was pleasantly surprised. It was fresh and loaded with nuts and all kinds of good stuff. The dressing was awesome. Fun, fun, fun day.

This is a great place for a date or to bring kids. Plenty to do and see. Only reason for 4 stars is the cost of the day. It was $20 for parking (although I guess there was a dog show so if you told the attendant you were just going to the museum it was $10) and tickets for me and my 4 year old was $34. On top of that we bought concessions so it was quite a pricey day. Overall it was a good experience and the staff was helpful.

Visiting the Science Museum with family is a lot of fun! The interactive exhibits are great, and the staff are very friendly. They really care about making sure everyone has a good time. The special events they have throughout the year, like science fairs and educational talks, are also really interesting. You should definitely get an annual membership for unlimited visits and some extra perks like discounted parking. A must-visit place for science fans or families looking for a fun and educational outing!

The museum experience begins as soon as you walk into the building as you are greeted by a couple activities and the trex. A coffee shop style snack kiosk waits in the entrance as well as the S tier gift shop. Once you enter the exhibit areas the floors are packed with kid friendly interactive learning stations and if your kids are anything like mine, they will burn hours playing and learning. My family's favorite exhibits were: the trex racing track and the synthetic tornado. I was surprised by the space exploration section and loved all of the experiments that were available here. The in-house restaurant was still closed when we visited but they said they are working on getting it reopened. SNAP recipients quality for reduced ticket prices.

This is absolutely amazing for all ages and can really show the wonder of science and why it's such a great career path. There's plenty to read and learn about physics, electronics, dinosaurs, and more! At the top floor where you come in you enter the floor about the Mississippi and several things related to water. There's plenty to learn but it wont keep the kids entertained very long or at least it doesn't keep me very entertained and I have the mind of child. There's also the collectors corner here which is one of my favorite places. It features a variety of the museums collections including bones, rocks, etc. If your a collector yourself you can bring with some things from your collection which based on your knowledge of the item can be exchanged for points that can be traded for and item at the counter. The next floor down has a bunch of stuff about history. An example would be the electric chair or a mummy. The cell lab is also on this floor which is a more involved activity that you have to ask to do one of the several experiments. It's mostly for kids can be be fun for adults too. I was hesitant to do it the first couple of times we came here but it was super fun when we did it. I will say that some of the tools needed replacements when we did it. You can also find the special exhibit and race exhibit off in the corner here. If your into race you can walk through but it's a very quiet place with a very boring kinda feeling. The special exhibit I also steer clear of most of the time. Depending on the subject it can be intresting for a little while but it's just SO long. I've never once walked through the whole thing before I basically ran out because it just keeps going. Down a floor from that is the food court, dinosaur exhibit, physics exhibit and sports exhibit. Dinosaurs are my jam and I love studying the fossils. Only about half the bones are real but it's fun to look at them anyways. There's tons of info which I find super fascinating. The physics stuff is also super fun. It's organized in table each featuring a different electrical or physics concept that you can experiment with. The sports exhibit is where the kids usually have more fun. Basically it's a bunch of kinda sports minigames that are meant to teach about the science of sports. There's racing, a reflex test, and a bunch more. There's also several shows that happen around the museum that can be quite entertaining. The IMAX theater always gives me a neck cramp but it can be a cool unique viewing experience. Anyways that my top to bottom review of the museum. I hope this helps! Have fun and make sure to learn something new!

We visited here with a large work group of Exhibit designers. We had an amazing experience! About 95% of everything was interactive and very well put together. Even as adults, we played around and learned for over 2 hours. The variety was also really well thought out. The next exhibit is on vintage video games! I wish it would have been ready! Highly recommended for families or just anyone that wants to learn and tinker!

The Science Museum of Minnesota staff is doing a great job of ensuring everything is immediately cleaned as the kids finish viewing an exhibit. The Cave Diving movie was well done appropriately socially distanced. Enjoyes viewing the river and sunset from the balcony.

Second time at the delightful science museum geared for lifelong learners, kids and families. The interactive portions are fantastic. Both times, there has been unruly school groups with teacher and parent chaperones who don’t seem to care about the behavior of their students and the schools they represent. Sadly, this did impact the overall enjoyment of our experience both times.

I'll start by saying the Exquisite Creatures exhibit is well worth your time, so if you're considering a visit between Feb-Sept 2023, do it!!! This museum is a fantastic blend of family friendly with interesting science for adults. Unlike many science museums, the interactive aspects here are always in good repair, and it's clean. The museum leans too warm/hot, and it's a lot of movement so I'd recommend walking aides/wheelchairs for those who need them. There is a lot going on, but it's not typically a sensory overload and I've seen many special needs families enjoying their time so I'd say it's an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. There was a walking dinosaur this afternoon that gave some littles a bit of nerves but it was announced well and forewarned. Prices are average for a museum--high but worth the money and with many discounts for those who may otherwise be unable to participate. All around an excellent space.

I recently visited the Science Museum of Minnesota on a Friday afternoon with a couple of my favorite kids and their mom! What a great day! We started out in the Omni Theater by watching Amazon Adventure which was excellent! We then wandered around the museum randomly looking a lots of amazing exhibits and amazing things! It was relatively busy but that in no way got in the way of having an amazing day! A return visit is definitely going to be needed!

Been going to the Science Museum of Minnesota for 40+ years, even before it was at this location. The best science museum in the area. If you go, get there when it opens and stay until you drop. Great place to take kids. Lots of hands on demonstrations, exhibits, and experiments for kids of any age. Movies are amazing on the big screen, but a bit expensive. Food price is ridiculous, pack a cooler for the car. Going once every year or two for an entire day is generally good for my family to be able to see everything and feel like I got to see new things each time.

I currently live in Texas & I wanted to post this review about my first visit to this museum back in the summer of 2000. I was on my summer vacation that year after graduating high school. Me, my dad, who's a Minnesota resident, & friends visited the museum one day that year & it was a great experience. I loved their IMAX theater where they showed a documentary narrated by singer Sting & the huge screen was stunning & the surround sound was just right. Everything else about the museum was great. Its sad that this place is closed along with all other non-essential places due to the pandemic & look forward to visiting again as soon as the whole world goes back to normal

The building was closed the parking ramp guy told me so but the parking ram what's open I asked the guy if I can park on the side and take pictures of the solar panels cuz I'm out of town all and I thought it was unique the guy confirm and told me it will be okay I'm backed out I went on the side street so I wouldn't block traffic going to the parking ramp I knew it was a no-parking straight with the lines going across the street I did not know it was a fire lane or way add so it's taking pictures of the solar panel I was about to put away my phone and go back to my vehicle when a guy supposed quite strongly angry sounding he asked if that was my vehicle I told him yes and then he repeatedly told still in a hostile voice told me that I must move my vehicle and that that I knew that I had parked in a file Lane I told him I did not I'm going off of his hostility I responded back I figured it didn't matter because the building is closed anyhow he said excuse me !! In a hostile voice I realize I was being kind of rude I had said sorry but you kind of give me attitude back and I was posting up the hill towards him he did put up at hands up and walked away from me in the same direction I was walking subjectively in a disappointing body language I headed back to my call he had it back into that side door with a in front of the fire lane I backed out since it was a one-way Street than I realize that I don't think anybody was wrong the guy talking and me but I think the whole situation could have been handled that all and maybe people shouldn't come to conclusions without getting the whole story I literally traveled hundreds of miles from where I live eauclaire Wisconsin . And not by choice .i try and make the best situation out of my trip Google has said that you guys was open when I first found the building I thought it was really neat I will like solar panels and I know I had song solar panel installed in that configurationI just think understanding each other could had go a long way .could have made a pleasing experience both of us

Went there back in 2008 and I was just astounded by everything they had. My first museum trip and I was pleased. Went to see the titanic exhibit and I was very very excited I am a huge titanic fan. I loved that my friends and I got to learn how the ship worked and we even got "boarding passes" for it just as if we were going on the real thing. It was really really really fun. Our most recent visit was a weekday...during spring break. We had reservations for opening: 10AM. Ramp parking was very easy...and...cheap at just $5.00 during museum hours...as long as there isn't an event happening. In that case...parking fees can be much more steep so...know before you go. When we got inside...it was not crowded at all. We expected the opposite given schools being out. [Honestly...it never felt crowded the entire time we were there even though it was 'busy'. The museum is expansive.] We had back-to-back omnitheater reservations to check out both current films playing. These are always highly enjoyable...and...worth the extra fee to attend. The exhibits don't really change much...with the exception of one...or...two temporary exhibits that come for a certain period of time. You'll always find favorites like the medical quackery gallery...the human body exhibit...and...the dinosaur habitat...which will thrill any prehistoric enthusiast. Many of the exhibits are interactive...along with being educational. There is alot to be learned here...even if you've previously visited. Some of the stations...especially in the sports/activities...and...medical quackery areas can get overly-busy as the activities are exciting. Just be prepared to bring your patience...and...enjoy your turn when it comes. Besides the fun exhibits...some galleries deal with minnesota's history...and...social issues: both current...and...past. Everybody leaves with something. The museum store is open limited hours...as is the lobby snack bar. You can always bring your own food/drinks...and...enjoy them in the designated dining locations. We have always had a pleasant experience at the Science Museum...and...will return at least yearly.

The science museum is my 5 year old son's All time favorite place to go. He was so excited that it had reopened for business. Of course we spend a majority of our visit in the Dinosaur exhibit...good educational family fun.

Very busy museum but worth it. Great for kids as there are so many hands on activities for them to enjoy and learn about. They have a gift shop with lots of souvenir.
