Mills Ruins Park in Minnesota is a captivating blend of history and natural beauty. As you wander through the park, the remnants of the once-thriving milling industry stand as silent witnesses to the past, creating a unique and intriguing atmosphere. The juxtaposition of weathered ruins against the backdrop of lush greenery and the rushing waters of the Mississippi River is truly mesmerizing. It’s a serene escape within the heart of the city, inviting visitors to explore its paths, reflect on the passage of time, and marvel at the harmonious coexistence of urban and natural elements. A must-visit destination that encapsulates both the resilience of human endeavor and the soothing embrace of nature.

What a beautiful place! This is a very popular spot to walk, bike, roller skate/blade, and more. There is parking nearby for about two dollars an hour. The mill city ruins and museum are on the downtown side of the bridge. There is a lot of history here and it is so interesting to learn about. Come here and look at the Mississippi river, Saint Anthony Falls, and more. Sunsets are beautiful as well! During the warmer months there is usually an ice cream truck nearby. On the other side of the river are different shops and restaurants. I haven't been yet but have heard good things!

This is an awesome park with great views! I took a bit of a walk around to check out the park and there is a cool bridge crossing over the Mississippi River with some awesome views (bike and pedestrian bridge). The mill is very cool, they even built the museum partially inside of the old mill. You can still go inside of the milland explore a little bit. There are nice walking paths leading to the different cool sights at this park. Overall it is a very nice place for a sunday stroll, a bike ride, or to take some cool pictures! Very much recommended!

Always a must stop at place when my family comes to town. Beautiful views over the Mississippi and of the last lock on the Mississippi (closed), easy parking what more can you ask for.

Mill Ruins Park is super cool and unique I love it! The history of the mill district is so interesting and I like how they have boards placed along the path that have old pictures and information about the mills and the surrounding area from when it was in its heyday. The natural springs still flow through the actual mill ruins and it almost feels like you're in a completely different place down there it's surreal. The parking can be a bit of a pain but it's worth it. This park is right next to a ton of other attractions and parks that are within walking distance so no need to move your vehicle unless you want to!

I noticed an ice cream truck, and the Park Ranger booth outside the walkway to the Lock. I'm sure there are rest rooms, just not obvious to me. Walkable path over the bridge; nice skyline to photograph.

This park is really cool and unique. The remains of the old mills are well preserved and there's a lot of signage explaining the history of the area. It's easily accessible, well maintained, and has a large parking lot (you have to pay for parking though). The park is also very close to many other attractions in the area such as the lock and dam, Gold Medal Park, the Mill City Meausum, First Bridge Park, and of course the Stone Arch Bridge. Glad I checked this place out!

It's a great place by the Mississippi river to walk and enjoy the view. During Aquatennial, it was the perfect place to watch the fireworks shooting from the Stone Arch Bridge. There were lots of folks there during that time but everyone was having a great time.

5⭐️ for the place and its significance. Must visit if you have 30 min in downtown Minneapolis. Dropped a star for 1) lack of public restrooms (and misguided information about their alternatives) 2) difficulty of access to the designated parking lot due to closures of roads around it.

. The park and museum are of historic and architectural interest. A visit to the Ruins can be a quick stop or a full afternoon of walking the trails and enjoying the museum. The preservation of the ruins was a welcome change to that area of downtown

Followed the heritage trail around the park and had a great walk while enjoying the atmosphere of the ruins, the river, and the city. I wish the informational signs along the way were in better condition. Many of them are faded beyond readability.

Nice historical area, we tried to visit the museum but it was closed temporarily the sign said. Nice to see the old mill from the outside, what is left of it anyway. So took the paths over to the park area down by the river. Nice paved trail but up and down hill in a couple of areas but not too bad. The old stone railroad bridge is cool, and there is parts of the old NSP power plant by the river.

Very cute! Maybe not the easiest to navigate or learn because of graffiti covering some of the signs, but a pleasant place to exist and a good quick stop to explore!

Love the atmosphere and look of it all together, I miss living downtown especially in this area. So every chance I have when in the area Hunter and I will go for a little reminisce walk.

Fun park to explore, love when cities repurpose old buildings/infrastructure into a park or something else. In this case it's a old industrial neighborhood of Minneapolis that was a bunch of Mills/Factories along the river.

It was cool to see an old bridge renovated for pedestrian use. Also to see the old Mills, the spillway and buildings around the park!!

Very beautiful. I rode the Veo scooters & bikes around, a lot of bike lanes for it along with the walking lanes.

Absolutely a must-see. So glad that Minneapolis had the foresight not to develop over the riverfront - leaving it open for the public to explore and enjoy is much appreciated.

Quiet walkway next to the river. Right now there is a wall of wooden signs that people have written on telling why they love Minneapolis. My favorite part of that wall is that no one has destroyed it, it is left to be enjoyed. So many great messages.

I liked it... is a good place to walk around and see the sights.

A historic spot, inspiring awe. But, no restrooms anywhere near, no water taps. Just a paying parking spot.

The city has some of the park blocked off and under construction. It also seems like they maybe need to get a crew in to clean up the grounds a little. But overall it's a pretty cool place. Decent signage to tell you what you're looking at and the history of it all. Nothing major "to do" and kids probably wouldn't be interested unless they like history. Paved/metal boardwalk parhways. Near the lock and dam and a stone archway bridge.

This is a must-see for anyone interested in the history of Minneapolis. Plenty of interpretiive signs. Great location for photography, in fact there was some professional shooting showing on during my visit today.

Beautiful place to walk and have a stroll. Can be crowded at times with all the joggers and people walking. It’s a must visit as you can have a good view of downtown Minneapolis.

Mill Ruins Park is right between Stone Arch Bridge and Gold Medal Park. Down by the water are some beautiful old Ruins where many people do photography at as well as explore. It's a great little area for walking and enjoy company

What a cool place to hike or jog!! It's a nice "green space" on the banks of the Mississippi below the old Pillsbury mill. The old architecture in combination with the natural wooded areas make this place both scenic and fascinating!

  • 5/5 Kim O. 2 years ago on Google
Very pretty in the winter, I imagine it's even better in the warmer months! Cannot wait to visit when the construction is done.

This used to be a collection of shuttered buildings surrounded by parking lots... now it is a testament to Minneapolis' economic history and international reputation for architecture and design. Come see urban renewal and nature-sensitive restoration done right. ... perfect place for a morning jog or evening stroll... bring a loved one and get to know them and the city a little better 😁!

Right in the middle of downtown it's really beautiful. The trees line the river and the dam. Nice and safe area to walk and enjoy the summer days

👍👍 Had a great experience at this stadium watching Rammstein. Security was efficient and friendly. Had some fried cheese curds that were the best I have ever had. Prices for concessions suck though. The concert it's self sounded great. However the music playing before the show could barely be heard....
