Holy smokes, this place is AMAZING! I just had the best sandwich I think I’ve ever had. Order the Cubano, it’s fantastic. And where else are you going to get a cubano? I love the vibe here, too. Their pork is from a local shop and so is their soda. I had the “Special” soda on Doug’s recommendation and it was just like a bomb pop popsicle, how he put it, but even better. Best sandwiches in town! My wife and I have lived in the neighborhood for years and only recently decided to try the winking rooster. Only took the one try to get hooked. Wish we had tried it earlier! Everything we have tried has been amazing. We have especially like the Cubano, Pulled Pork, and Pastrami sandwiches.

The ladies running this shop are delightful and the berry salad I had was filling and refreshing. This is a great spot!

I find that great sandwich shops are few and far between; this one is amazingly awesome every time. Ingredients are fresh, crisp, and robust. Service is polite and the atmosphere is quaint and clean. I wouldn't mind if they were open an hour later each day; then I could pair a drop-in sandwich stop seamlessly with my routine trips to Namaste across the street. As it is though Winkin Rooster comes highly recommended and my first choice for a deli sandwich.

Went there for lunch for the first time after moving to the area. Sandwich was awesome, and fiancé loved her salad. Prices are better than most fast food places despite being fresh and homemade. Will be back ASAP for the Cubano.

A friendly staff operating a homely deli with a selection of good options. The Reuban was not overly salty, the bread was perfectly grilled, and the Tuscan soup SLAPPED. There is coffee here, too, and a good offering of Duluth Coffee Company. You can purchase whole bags of beans, along with some merchandise and barbeque sauxes to make your own sandwiches have some flair, too. Staff brought my items to my table within 10 minutes with a friendly demeanor and smile. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a lunch stop, as it checks all of the boxes.

Cute little sandwich shop. The owner was so nice to my toddler and the food was great. Loved the chicken enchilada soup, and the blt. They have a cooler that has local sodas which was really cool also. Would definitely come back if we are ever back in MN.

I have not yet had better sandwiches. The Cubano is my favorite, but everything we have ordered here has been very good. The homemade soups are wonderful. It is a small business, we see the owner there all the time. Only complaints may be that: it is a bit smokey inside and one of the women who works there is not always the friendliest. The food and everyone else blow these complaints out of the water, they are that good.

This place has the freshest everything at pretty much the best prices around. I work and live about ten minutes away and check pretty much every day to see what exciting specials they have for that day. Love that the sandwich and soup are are constantly cycling specials so everything is exciting when you see it pop up. Best part is, the owner is awesome. It feels good to support a fellow small business especially. Just got done with a godfather sandwich in restaurant just a little mini date with the wife and it was absolutely perfect. Only way I'll stop going is if i move out of state

My partner and I stopped here on hour 18 of our 21 hour drive up to northern Minnesota and we were starving. We chose The Winkin’ Rooster because of the amazing reviews! We ordered a Reuben and the California sandwich. The sandwiches were a great size (we could only finish half for lunch) and the Reuben was particularly delicious! We had a small issue with one of the sandwiches, but the owner was super quick to correct the issue and went above and beyond! You can tell that it’s a family owned (and loved) business who care about their customers! Also, the craft sodas are super yummy (specifically the vanilla bean sarsaparilla)!

Absolutely love this place! The soups are amazing and sandwiches as well. Always super fresh and delicious. So affordable. Support your local businesses so they are here to enjoy for years to come!

The best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. A fantastic staff who are excited about you coming in to their establishment and giving you great service. I can't say enough good things about the Winking Rooster to do them justice. I'm just glad I get the privilege of visiting this great restaurant.

If you're looking for a local sandwich shop definitely try this place out! I had a delicious hot sandwich - the Bacon Club. They also have Sodas/Pop from the Northern Soda Company (based in MN). Would definitely recommend to a friend!

Very high quality sandwiches that are very tasty and definitely one of the best I've eaten.

Doug is the coolest dude of all time. And his his sandwiches are maybe the best I have ever had. My girlfriend once said, if you keep spending all your money at the Winkin' Rooster, I will kick you to the curb." needless to say I broke up with her and kept eating at the Winkin' Rooster. No regrets.

Had the cubon, it was delicious. Bread was perfect for the sandwich, and just enough quantity in the sandwich. The girl that took our order was outstanding, nice, and walked us through the process to make sure we had everything we needed. Everyone in our group of 7 was really happy with their meal, ranging between meaty sandwiches, wraps and hearty salads. The place was adorable, with quality meats and produce along with other local offerings (bacon to go!) and board games. Service was super friendly including girl who had impressive server skills already at her young age. Highly recommend.

Homemade lunches (soup and sandwich) just like Mom made for you as a kid. Fast and delightful/delectable at a fair price. Beats what they're serving at Mac and Don's with better bang for the buck. And always a friendly smile!

What a great place to pick up a quick breakfast sandwich or of course a real sandwich for a decent price over the lunch hour. Diverse staff that always have something nice to say and have had pleasant conversations with the owner. They pick local and veteran supporting brands. Definitely ordering box lunches for the office from here going forward.

All of the other reviews are spot on about this lovely place!! We like to try new spots to eat that are not chains and this one came up with amazing reviews so decided to try it! The inside reminds me of a cute cafe you’d find up north. The man working was extremely friendly and helpful. Offered lots of suggestions and ways to customize our food to make it delish! My husband got the Cubano and truly, it was one of the best I’ve ever tried. I subbed a few things to make my wrap into a buffalo chicken wrap and it was great! I appreciated the hearty amount of veggies provided! We got a salad for our 1 year old for the fruit and chicken and she also loved that. They have fun local sodas, chips are included with your sub and some of the best customer service I’ve had in a long time! Highly recommend! Thanks for the amazing experience!

What a great place! Ordered a sandwich for dinner and asked how late they do the breakfast sandwiches. I love my breakfast and they serve it all day. He was so nice he gave me a free breakfast sandwich to try. I’ll be back for many more!
