I rarely write reviews, but my father's stay at Kindred Care was exceptional, and I feel it's worthy of recognition, due to key staff members. After transferring from Torrance Memorial ICU where he had been incubated for several weeks following surgery, my dad was admitted to Kindred Care to recover. Marjon, Natasha, and his nurses, were fantastic, juggling multiple patients while attending to my father. He was making noticeable progress under their care. Sarah from physical therapy was another standout, getting him walking with a cane while remaining professional, motivating, and caring. I can’t say enough good things about her, she’s a big reason why my dad made such good progress. Jennifer did a great job with managing his pain and sleep. She was extremely caring and accessible when we needed her. Oliver, Linda, Helen, Lily, Quinn and Anthony were all excellent and instrumental in his recovery. Although family involvement is crucial, the hardworking and dedicated staff at Kindred Care made all the difference in my father's rehabilitation and it’s truly appreciated. Thank you!

This place is the worst! Do not recommend!!!! The staff is unprofessional and tbh lacked compassion. My mother was admitted here for a week and she contracted a UTI. When she was in the ICU there was a bug flying around her room. The rooms were not properly cleaned and sanitized. When we mentioned our concerns to the nurses/ staff they responded with attitude. The CNA JENISE is the worst!! She didn't know anything and when asked a simple question, she responded with attitude and lack of interest. These concerns were passed along to the hospital administrator. This place should be shut down for negligence.

Kindred hospital south bay in Gardena. If i could give zero stars I would! This place is horrible! The nurses and staff are extremely rude. The older security guard in the front desk is very rude, it's true that he's in a power trip! Receptionists and security guard are misinforming visitors regarding visiting hours. Hate this place!! I would advise you if you love and care about your love ones this place is really negligent. My mother was transferred to this place due to her insurance. Worst place ever !!!! Run!!! My mother's room was extremely dirty with no ac or fan. No chairs for elderly visitors. My elderly father had to stand for 4hrs during his visit. We asked the nurse for chairs and they told us they didn't have any but to feel free to look down the hall for some. Bed was dirty, didn't clean or bathed my mother! The nurses lied about cleaning her everyday. Very sad and angry with this place and the staff . My mother sat in her room with pee that was next to her for a couple of days! The TV and lights in the room didn't work. My mother was in that unsanitary room for a week! The room smelled like urine and feces and the staff didn't address it until we mentioned the smell! I did not see any staff member use sanitizer when entering her room. we contacted patients advocate and administrator regarding our complaints but never heard back from administrator. They will be hearing from our lawyers! Hope this gets resolved for future patients and the patients that are currently in there!! May God be with you if you have someone in this place !!! Please keep an eye on your loved ones if you have them here. Shut this place down!

100% would not recommend. My mother was only here for a week and came out with a UTI due to poor hygiene. This place is so run down , I had to take matters into my own hands and clean my mothers bed as the CNAs didn't do there job. I am devastated and appalled by the staff especially Jenise. I had to clean my mother up and had to ask why my mothers pee looked and smelled so bad before they realized something was wrong. How can you not tell something is wrong when the odor and color of my mothers pee was bad. Please do whatever you can to not have your loved ones sent here. The staff had airpod's in their ears the entire time I was there and when asked questions seemed bothered to answer. I'm not one to usually leave bad reviews but I am using this to warn you not to let anyone else get treated badly, shut this place down or do better!

For the most part, my stay at Kindred was pretty decent. A couple nurses complain that I didn’t use the commode that was in my room, though I was told I could not use it unless the nurse was in there to help me, and sometimes pressing the button would take too long And I had to go in the bedpan which I had I want to commend the physical therapy department and especially Sarah. We’re going above and beyond and doing her job. The food was usually pretty good but all meals came with rice, and nothing to flavor it with. And it was a little bit feast or famine as sometimes I would get looked very little food and sometimes I get too much. The doctors did come every day to talk to me about my condition.

Whoever that old guy is in the security receptionist is extremely rude. Every single time he's sitting at his desk he always has a terrible attitude and always goes on a power trip. I don't have any problems with the other security guards, as a matter of fact the two female security guards are both nice and welcoming. This facility needs to either talk to him or find someone else who has a better attitude and is more welcoming then he is because that is unacceptable.

Should be a zero. My brother coming from Torrance Memorial, case manager Christine Portugal. Pushed from the beginning, day one at Torrance Memorial to seek out alternative places for my brother. With Dr. Mckinnel recommendation my brother needed to be moved to Kindred hospital in Gardena. They said his wound care would be followed and demonstrated as the same at Torrance Memorial . My brother stayed at kindred for two days without the supervision of a wound care nurse and his wound deteriorated. It’s taken 2 plus weeks to return to previous conditions. The nursing staff has poor communications and turning of bed bound patients not followed. The lack of team work shows in nursing care of patients. I felt hopeless and feared for my brothers care while being there. I’ve asked from day three , for my brother to be returned to Torrance Memorial but have been dealt with a multitude of excuses why it hasn’t happened. I feel helpless and unsure for my brothers future there. I don't recommend this place for loved ones. Save your heart and worry and seek out another place.

Zero stars! This place is horrible. Staff is rude and unprofessional. The place is extremely dirty and unkempt. The security guard has a really bad attitude towards visitors and rude when asked questions. My mother's hygiene and care was neglected and her room was unsanitary. There's mold on the ceiling and equipment seems super outdated. Her tv and light didn't work and staff didn't care. I left a VM to the administrator and never received a call back. Staff really lacks compassion towards patients. CNA Jenise should not be working in this field she looks like she hates her job and definitely showed it. I do not recommend taking your love ones to this facility. This place should be closed down for neglect!! Patient advocate Cecilia, was nice and professional. Definitely did her job.

I am so happy that Dad stayed at Kindred. Compare to other hospital, Kindred provided much better care in the most friendly way. Dad has been hospitalized for the last five months. I visited him every single day. Myself is a medical professional. Kindred Hospital Gardena’s management is much better. They provided an excellent wound care nurse actually takes care of wound. We were in other so called top hospital that wound care nurse never laid their hands on wounds. Kindred provide air pressure alternating bed is top notch for wound care. Other hospital did not provide that and cause my dad’s bedsores. Kindred asked everyone including nurses to wear protective disposable garment to prevent hospital cross contamination. That was what happened to my Dad in the other hospital. Kindred’s staffs just seem to be happy and after my Dad stayed there for over a month, I became happy with them too. That hospital is a treasure in the South Bay.

The hospital is good in some area's and there are some nurses, CNA'S and medical staff that show compassion and go above and beyond there assigned duties, but there are a few that show no compassion and serious concern for the patient other than collecting a paycheck. The only dept at Kindred Hospital that gets 5 stars in my opinion is the Quality management personnel. They go above and beyond.

Trish from the lab is a very professional phlebotomist. She comes in, calms the patient down and puts the patient at ease. I highly recommend her to do lab draws for other patients too. When she is in the process of completing the labs you can’t even feel a thing! You would never even know she has taken a lab sample from you. She also talks you through the process the whole time and that was very comforting to me. Thank you Kindred for hiring such a great phlebotomist! -M.S

Grandpa was real great grandpa and we had a nice relationship. When my grandpa was at to Kindred Hospital our family was hurt but they gave us the best care before he passed away. The staff was very helpful and really cared good for grandpa. Everything went good but I was sad from losing my grandpa. Kindred staff helped me and fam be happy through the tough time we had. I would refer Kindred.

I like the way the physical therapists Oliver, Sarah and Alexis treated me. They were genuine and honest and supportive. They were even kind enough to make conversation with me while helping me. They are the best! – Jesse

Kindred is about the best I seen thus far. I been in a few facilities and Kindred beats them, they don’t mind helping patients and even employees. Staff is friendly, they cool, real straight. They not perfect though but they alright with me. I seen them in action since I been admitted and they do good! -Martin

The nurses need more training on certain duties such as how to change a colostomy bag. They need to check on the patients more often then they do. There is an excellent wound nurse name Steve who is very patient, caring & considerate, he goes beyond his duties. The staff needs to lower their voices when they are in the hall talking among themselves

I cannot express enough how incredibly grateful and impressed I am with the care and compassion I witnessed at Kindred Hospital in Gardena. My experience there during my father's stay was nothing short of exceptional, and I feel compelled to share my positive experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was met with warmth and kindness by the entire staff. The security guards, Sheila and Raymond, deserve a special mention for their outstanding ability to greet visitors and make them feel comfortable and welcomed, even in the most trying of circumstances. Their cheerful and reassuring demeanor was a breath of fresh air during a difficult time. The nursing staff at Kindred Hospital in Gardena was nothing short of phenomenal. Nurses like Lilly, Fumi, Abigail, and Stella were true angels in scrubs. They went above and beyond to provide attentive, compassionate, and expert care to my father, ensuring his comfort and well-being. Their dedication and expertise were evident in every interaction, and they were always there to answer questions, address concerns, and provide guidance to me as a family member navigating this challenging journey. What truly stood out during my time at Kindred Hospital was the consistency of exceptional service. Every encounter with staff, whether it was a nurse, a doctor, or any other member of the team, left me feeling reassured and cared for. It was evident that everyone at Kindred Hospital in Gardena is genuinely committed to the well-being and comfort of their patients and their families. During a difficult time, Kindred Hospital in Gardena provided a level of care and support that was beyond my expectations. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire team for their dedication, professionalism, and genuine compassion. You all made a challenging period in our lives a bit more bearable, and I will forever be thankful for the outstanding care and kindness we received. Kindred Hospital in Gardena truly sets a standard of excellence in healthcare that should be celebrated and emulated.

This place is the worst! Do not recommend!!!! The staff is unprofessional and the lack of compassion for patients here is a disgrace. The doctors to the janitors have know clue of what they need to do! The staff don't feed they patients, don't wash the patients up just us baby wipes. This facility is old have no new equipment and have of the equipment don't work ran down beds. Basically all there doing is housing patients. And waiting on there paycheck. All the nurses do nothing but sit at the nurse station and gossip. No one there really does their job there at kindred hospital in Gardena .

My brother recently discharged from Kindred South Bay and he is recuperating well thanks to Kindred. Everything was fine and we had no issues. I would like to thank the staff and the doctors there who were all so helpful. I especially would like to thank the great physical therapy department there who worked with him. One of the therapists even provided a cap for him and I would like to thank her. That was so nice of her.

First I was admitted to the hospital in the ICU. I admire the nurses who take care of me there. There was one nurse who was very kind and attended to my needs. I enjoyed everything at the hospital, the food was delicious. The patient advocate is very nice and the rehab women. I liked the hospital. I only had one day with problem that I was confused about, but I mentioned, one problem did not beat the good care I received. There’s nice people there who has helped me get better. I give this place 2 thumbs up. 5 Stars. This is a good hospital Thank you.

You guys do a good job, you're very attentive to your people that you take care of. The staff let you push for rehab and there's no limit other than the boundaries you make for yourself. The rehab guy is awesome and the patient advocate is just the sweetesr person ever. - Coker

My brother was transferred from Torrance Memorial to Kindred Hospital for rehabilitation. The staff and management at Kindred have displayed a very good quality of care. We have a large family and sometimes everyone wants answers to my brother’s condition at the same time. We have developed a communication for one or two family members to deliver his status of my brother to the rest of the family. Sarah the Physical Therapist has worked very hard to get movement out of my brother. The Speech Therapist has gotten my brother to once again eat soft foods after being fed from a feeding tube. When I have not been there to visit my brother, the nurses have communicated with me by phone. I have communicated with several nurses (Eddica, Myra, just to name a few) that has been very patient and polite to me. I know Kindred is a smaller hospital but everyone from housekeeping to administration are busy doing their job and will take out the time to politely talk to you when they have a moment. I highly recommend this facility for caring for a loved one. Ernest

My mother was admitted to Kindred South Bay, and after her recovery there she discharged to another facility. My brother lives close by and was able to visit her, whenever his schedule allowed. Unfortunately, I was out of state, many miles away. It was a nice surprise that I received a phone call from the patient advocate, introducing herself on the phone and who arranged our FaceTime calls. The staff took good care of her, the nurses, rehab, I really appreciate the nurse that would ask me on FaceTime to translate or give her feedback of what my mom was saying to her in our language. They do their best to communicate with their patients, and I am very satisfied with their service.

The patient advocate for the hospital is wonderful. I was hesitant to speak about a concern that has been bothersome for sometime now…Kristine being the patient advocate made me feel validated with a sense of openness, being able to interject my concerns. Which ultimately was beneficial for me. I had a few concerns regarding a particular cna and her aggressive demeanor towards me. Kristine was very direct in handling my concerns in a very professional manner. I’m glad that she took the importance of this particular issue and addressed it. I was very impressed and pleased with the outcome. Seeing a positive change with that main staff I had concerns about. I wasn’t able to speak up about this in the past, but she took the time to see that I wasn’t in my best mood. Having me interject my concerns was very beneficial for me, and she was able to resolve my concerns and unease I was experiencing at that time. I enjoy her visiting me and checking in on me. She seems to uplift my spirits with her presence and conversations.

It’s cool! I love it here at Kindred South Bay. If I had to come back I would. It’s way better than where I was. The staff treat me real good. It’s a wonderful place, the food could be better but they bring me my coffee and I’m real happy with that!

The hospital needs updating, but they are very consistent with their HIPPA regulations. I can guarantee the nursing staff goes extra lengths in not speaking to anyone outside the designated list. Doctors on call leave much to be desired - unresponsive, condescending, not a great bedside manner...and that's if you get to speak to them at all. My loved one's attending neurologist successfully dodged me for 7mos. Kristine, however, will be the bright spot in this murky place. She's an amazing patient advocate. Genuinely kind, caring, and willing to give her best. I hope this place doesn't suck the greatness out of her. Treat her kindly y'all! She is the only truly good thing about this place. Her assistance comes from the heart, judgement-free, and a willingness that isn't being compensated, because they wouldn't have enough money in the world.

Kindred South Bay Gardena is the best experience!!! , the staff is outstanding, very friendly and efficient. Every department is excellent . Sarah for physical therapy is amazing, nursing staff is excellent everyone esp Beatrice, Edward, Christopher , Margaret Eiline , Eunice and all .I would also mention the wound care team James and Steve they are outstanding , the caregivers Tay , Oonie, Charles and everyone else are really caring. The care I received here helped my husband get back to life again ❤️❤️, God bless all the staff members here

Some of the nurses here need to improve their bedside manner drastically and some of them really don’t need to be here. I only saw the doctor very briefly a total of three times within the two weeks I was there. The third and the last time he came to my room I was using the commode and asked him to give me a moment to finish up and he just walked off and never came back even upon my discharge. However, there were some nurses who really made me feel like family. Cathy was one of them, she always came to say hi and gave me a hug even when I wasn’t her patient for the day. Frank V was also very helpful, kind and had a great personality. Tricia from lab always did a great job taking my blood and was always concerned and caring. Her personality is great too. There was also a staff member named Emmanuel in EVS who went above and beyond to thoroughly clean my room. He made sure everything was disinfected very well! And lastly I must mention the patient advocate from administration. She was very kind, helpful and caring. She made me feel so comfortable throughout the whole process and let me know she’s by my side and actually showed up to prove it. Thank you all.

Terrible hospital, my mom almost died. Bad nurses, a doctor who visits once a day. The patients screaming at pressure machines that were of no use.
