Planet Fitness Evolution I Guess? It's has been over two years since the franchise owner purchased the gym from Fitness Evolution. Since then the owner has only made superficial changes to the gym and sells the promise that one day they will become a real Planet Fitness. However, outside of a paint job and some secondhand PF machines (that stay broken), they have not made any of the upgrades they promise when members sign-up. Still not 24hrs, the same old cardio equipment from Fitness Evolution, and broken down locker rooms. I don't believe that the franchise owner believes in the brand or see the value in the community this location serves. The perception of the customer is that this location serves as a cash cow and watered down version of the brand.

Male using female restroom. Rusted, molded, inoperable, dirty showers. No tissue and toilet covers. Overworn machines that are well overdue for repair everywhere. Lazy staff don't clean, just stand around talking about people. No ventilation, very smelly, extremely crowded. Overall, very filthy, non-modern gym unsuitable for use. The worst PF I've visited. After such observations, I couldn't stay to exercise, I left to go to another gym.

There is always something broken like just one bathroom in mans lockers room? Come on why is this gym so neglected? PF only improve gyms where majority are white people going smh step your game up if you want to keep customers.

Cheap but you get what you pay for. The equipment was old and often broken. I even overextended my knee while running on a treadmill because the belt wasn’t properly tightened and skipped. The hours weren’t great and the gym was often so crowded that my hour long workout turned to 2 hours or more. The facility was rarely clean and had minimal COVID precautions that were rarely followed. The bathrooms often looked like a crime scene. The employees were kind but were often more concerned with their conversations and their workouts while working than they were worried about customers. Also, I feel like the concept of the judgment free zone was never upheld as there were many people who would scream and drop weights as if they were in a high school football locker room. Overall, the experience was disheartening and had a negative effect on my fitness journey.

Just be careful when you sign up online. If you make a mistake, it cannot be undone. I signed up for the annual membership. At the end of the sign up process, I realized the wrong club was selected. I quickly tried to cancel it and get refund, but no refund was given because of the policy. The problem is there is no manager who can authorize the refund. It is against policy, but there should be a cool down period to rollback the mistakes. I'm sure this can be resolve quickly if there is a manager who can authorize the override. Instead, I was given an email of the regional manager. I wrote an email, but still waiting.

This has been my gym for 1 yr. This could be a amazing gym. The bad, let’s start with treadmills, bikes etc being out of service…. The same equipment that was broke 6 months still are out of service. Locker rooms are dirty. The showers are worse smh need to hire better staff that cares about they’re jobs. Padding on equipment is wore down needs changing. Just a bad gym

I truly love this place but it's been a while since this machine broke on me and still not available. If they fix it I'll change from ⭐ to ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Yesterday, on Thursday August 18, 2022, I showed up around 6:40pm and this location was closed without any warning. It was shown as open on both the app and online. An email or notification was not sent to let members of this location know not to show up. Not even a sign on the door. However, this location hasn't done this before since I've joined so something must have happened. It just would have been considerate to be notified of the closure in some way. Otherwise, this gym is fine, pretty clean, and larger then the Silver Spring gym on New Hampshire Ave.

I enjoy this location. Besides the fact that teenagers grab every dumbbell from 15lbs to 45lbs and lay them around their bench, as they flex in the mirror. Mornings are best M-F.

Update #2: Black card members beware!!! Changing my review from 3 stars to 2 stars. Management has now removed Fairlife, the last protein drink available for discount for black card members, from it's list of discounted drinks. There are now zero protein drink options available for discount, which is one of the best perks of the black card membership. I take this as a sign that management does not care about its higher-paying customers. Update #1: Changing my review from 4 stars to 3 as Premier Protein drinks are no longer discounted with the black card and I have never seen Fairlife, the only protein drink that is now discounted, in stock. In addition to not being able to use my black card for discounted protein drinks, the massage beds are out of service about 50% of the time. I'm not sure why I'm paying extra for the black card when I can't use my perks. Original review: Overall, great atmosphere and service. There are often broken machines or massage beds that take a while to be repaired. It's also annoying when people sit on the machines and just use their phones, but this probably happens at most gyms.

You would think that after all these bad reviews they would actually start making improvements but it shows they don’t care about their actual customers, just their money. This location has sooooo much potential. It’s right in the middle of Hyattsville, Langley Park and College Park. They dropped the ball and continue to drop it. Update the equipment, and everything else for that matter. It’ll cost a lot but you’ll gain more consistent members. Crazy to think they have competition right across the street and they’re still this laid back.

Crowded in evening times, you have to wait couple of minutes to use a machine or other equipment. Also, they need to have a scale for weight check. They still deserve five stars because it is clean and the staff is super nice.

I enjoy coming to this location especially now that I’ve found the best time to go, when it’s not crazy busy.. Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming to find somewhere to w/o during the busier times.. I do like that there’s two rows of weights a third could be more helpful, but this is first come first serve. So just find the right time for you! Overall the equipment and facility is clean and the staff appears too be pretty hands on with keeping the gym together. I have only been in the restroom/ locker rooms once it was a little scary so I haven’t been back. I think it was just the time of day 5:30-6 folks was a bit messy.. The only I can really recommend is maybe cleaning the ceiling in weights area kinda moldy..

Of all of the gyms in the general area (gaithersburg, germantown, etc.) this gym was the best one. All of the others were under construction which made it difficult to utilize the facility prior to work. This gym made it a seamless process and the patrons were very friendly as well. Bathroom/locker room was clean as well Staff were always friendly.

They were very cautious about COVID and I always felt safe going to work out, even during some of the worst parts of the pandemic. I highly recommend joining as they are welcoming and encouraging of all fitness levels.

Among 4 bench and squat machines 1 is broken, tens of people are waiting in line for the rest three. Weights gets disappear after 6 pm till closing.. you can’t see any to workout on. If you are having more members and getting more money, at least provide sufficient services and equipments for them as well…!

My preferred gym was/is Washington Sports Club, however a guy friend invited me to Planet Fitness on a Guest Pass. The Staff is friendly, the locker room & bathroom were tidy. Lots of equipment, but the layout doesn't quite suit me, however, it is still a nice facility, and the Membership fees were respectable. I especially was appreciative of the cleaning stations with disinfectant spray and paper towels. I enjoy the Elliptical Machines, it's a bonus feature to be able to plug in headphones to listen to one of the multiple TVs. The equipment is a tad too close together, sort of like herding cattle, for my liking. Although, plenty of equipment is kind of appealing in the sense there is something for everyone's fitness level. I did like the Planet Fitness Motto of a "Judgement Free Zone", or similar positive message.

Spacious location. I like the old life fitness treadmills that are at the Landover location...other PF are upgrading. I shower frequently at this location, everything is stocked and clean. This location gets alot of action, so I hope they fix the smith machines soon. Other than that this is a great spot to workout.

I like this gym and location. Some of the equipment doesn’t work and they don’t have wifi or scale to weigh yourself which i find odd. Also, personal hygiene should be a rule to have. I shouldn’t have to cut my workout short due to someone smelling extremely musty. It was nauseating and upsetting. They literally cleared out the entire section they were in because of the smell. I don’t pay monthly for that. Please put up signs about personal hygiene. 🤢😷

Both my wife and I had a very bad experience with this location that caused us to get overbilled by hundreds of dollars through no fault of our own and in a very shady and peculiar manner. When I signed up, I asked if I could pay with my credit card, and they said that it was fine. I then signed a contract and inputted my bank account information. A few weeks later I got an email saying there was a problem with my payment. I checked my credit card statement and saw that they had given me a late fee (even though I was supposed to be on an automatic payment), so I went into Planet Fitness and spoke with a worker. He told me that this was a problem on their end and that I would get a refund. The following month, I got the same email and another late fee, so I went in and spoke to the manager. The manager was extremely rude. He told me that my bank account information was incorrect, and that when they take the payment from my credit card, it incurs a late fee. (I went back and looked at my contract, and my bank account information was correct.) When I told the manager that a previous worker told me that this was a mistake on their end, the manager got strangely defensive and said something along the lines of, "I can't be held responsible for what my employees say." The bottom line: I had given the management my bank account information correctly, but was getting billed late fees on my credit card every month, and they refused to reimburse me. This obviously caused me to cancel my membership, but when I went home, I looked into my wife's membership, and found that she had been getting late fees applied to her credit card every month too -- and I looked at her contract and she had inputted her bank account information accurately. No one had told her that her payment wasn't being processed correctly, and the emails she had been receiving from Planet Fitness to "warn her" were cryptic and said nothing about late fees. The fact that this happened to both my wife and I makes me suspect that there are unethical practices happening at this location, especially because of how defensive management became when I brought this up to them. Other problems with the location: - very few free weights, causing long wait times - MANY broken machines - Unsanitary conditions, especially in the bathrooms. I made the mistake of showering there once, and there was a food wrapper in the shower, and clumps of hair everything. The floor had dirt caked into it, as if it hadn't been mopped in a long time. - Rude management. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere!

The standard this PF sets is off the roof. Cleanest PF I have ever visited or any other gym for that matter. Next covid outbreak won't happen here, trust me. All the equipments are in excellent condition. Way more dumbbells than needed so even when it's busy you'll always find the weight you need. Dumbbells are always exactly where they are supposed to be. Staffs care so much and make sure customers don't have to be responsible for their duties. Gym members are really thoughtful and never hoard up any weights. Restrooms are so clean sometimes I feel like I have entered the bedroom. Overall, you are stupid if you decide not to join this gym.

08/2023 about 30% of the machines are broken. Sometimes there’s an “out of order” sign on them for a week or so but then the sign disappears and the machine is still broken. These machines have all been broken for over a year. The dumbbells are the best part of the gym but they’re almost always put in the wrong place because I guess numbers are hard. It does make you wonder what the staff does because you only see them refill sanitizer bottles and chill behind the front desk joking around.

This gym is actually so sad. • Gym has 9 cables and out of all of them 3 work. ridiculous •Staff is so careless and don’t clean anything • Not enough dumbells and barbells. •4 bench press machines and only 2 work. this has been like this for months and nobody cares. it’s genuinely confusing to me

Too crowded with high school kids hanging out on the machines than actually working out. And looks nothing Like the pics on here. You can't even find it till you circle a few times around the mall...but I guess it's good for while I'm visiting....

Overall pretty happy. Employees are helpful. I REALLY dislike being forced to listen to their music. I want to heat my own music on my headset, but it’s impossible their music is sooooo loud and bad. No WiFi. And usually some machines don’t work. High marks for cleanliness. No services/classes aimed at anyone over 60.

I really enjoy my time at Planet Fitness. I especially like the affordability, friendliness and helpfulness of the employees and the variety and quality of the equipment. As with most businesses, there is room for improvement. I have two main complaints, 1) the lack of WiFi for customers and 2) No classes for senior citizens.

I am sorry for the gym that I go to... but is one of the worse I have been to... 3 pulldownmachines are broken, 1 leg extension is out of order too... and you ask the ladies in the front but they have no idea when are they going to be fixed... they have been like this at least 3 weeks... this is by far the worse planet fitness in MD

$159 a year. 2 miles each way from my house for a total of 10,000+ steps. But no trainers, no real bodybuilders, and no one to talk to. I could join the UofMd Rec about $600 a year, or Gold's about $850 a year! They signed me up for a pro-rated amount for the month. The next week my checking account showed a full $10 instead of the pro-rated amount????!!!! Why was it changed? Still a lot less than other gyms, and you get what you pay for I guess.

My experience was that this is a very small and dingy PF. The main equipment rooms have no airflow whatsoever, besides 4 wall fans that were not running. I've been to PF across the US, and this location is the only one to not have wi-fi. I visited once and will definitely find another location if in DC again.
