Very nice campsite. I stayed there several times and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The campsite is very well maintained, the facilities are great and always clean. There is a children play area. It is walking distance from the park and ride if you are not worried about crossing busy roads, but if not you can go by car or motor home, and it operates every day except Sundays. Great base to visit Durham or the area.

Have never felt so unwelcome to a site we have always been staying and caravan and motorhome club site as you always get a great and content standards. Which the site was . The wardons just did not want to be there or probably did not want customers in. To me they are just filling in time till they stop .was a shame as was a great site and would of stayed longer and came back as for me great stop over site

Nice site located just outside Durham, you can hear the rumble of traffic in the background but nothing excessive, clean facilities and well kept grounds, I would recommend staying here

Wardens where totally grumpy old **** they are totally in the wrong job for them and the caravan club would be well rid of them once they retire (or get sacked). Please let me know when new wardens are on site then we can start recommending the site to friends and family again

Normal high standard Camc site. Friendly wardens and spotless amenities. Lots of road noise from motorway but also very easy access both north and south. Easy access into Durham too from nearby park and ride. (Not reccomended to walk from the site unless you were an expert in the frogger game when you were a kid as there are a number of fast roads/motorway slip roads to cross to get there.)

Lovely site, nicely laid out with plenty of space. Good lengthy dog run in the woods. Site is about one hours walk into Durham city, along nice woodland walk adjacent to the river. Alternatively there is a park and ride bus about 100 yards across the A1M which takes you straight into the city. Definitely will return.

Nice site and big pitches. Site very clean. but the noise from the motorway was a big problem. The play park for the kids was brilliant. Good for trips to Durham.

You know what you get with a club site, so perfect for any weather. Site spotless. Potential users must be aware that this is basically an overnight stop over site. Being so close to the A1 it did have the feeling of a service station, without the fuel and wagons, although you drive past the highways station. Yes it is a noisy site due to traffic noise. The dig walk simply takes you to the playground and back, if you want to walk your dog, you will need to drive somewhere else

Situated just off the A1m there is constant underlying road noise but not loud enough to be a problem, that said the site is level, beautifully maintained, with clean shower block , the wardens are very friendly and helpful particularly Andrea who was able to enthusiastically recommend local places of interest such as the beamish museum of the North, whitley bay and local places to eat out. The park and ride to Durham is free to park and just £2 each return, so excellent value. I must commend the planters and hanging baskets on the site entrance which are gorgeous too.

Nice welcome on arrival and given an option of 4 different plots. Absolutely immaculate toilet facilities, spotlessly clean, fresh and bright. Plenty of service points on site and one for motorhomes to drive over. Dogs enjoyed the dedicated walk area and a run around off lead. Ideal location for visiting Durham City and only a 5 minute walk to a park and ride into the city centre.

Excellent site well placed for A1 and only 3 mile riverside walk from city centre. Staff friendly and facilities spotlessly clean.

Lovely site ideal location for visiting Durham and stopover due to it being close to the A1

The usual high club standards. Good sized pitches. Some noise from A1(M).

Nice campsite just outside Durham. Pleasant staff. Conveniently located for the A1 though that does mean a bit of background road noise. Park and ride is good for getting into Durham but there is a nice three mile Riverside walk for the more active.

Handy site just off the A1, well laid out, clean facilities, nice walk into Durham along the river. Due to close proximity of the A1 you will get road noise.

What a well kept site this is, ideal for the motorway but just far enough of it that it's not dominated by road noise.

Easy access to Durham City clean and flat pitches used before some years ago has aged well!

First and last time at site . Grumpy unhelpful lady warden. We arrived at 12.00 but were turned away until 1pm , the club book is wrong. Booked a pitch with awning but didn’t get it. Motorhomes on them and no awnings up. Club very expensive and strict about coloured pegs and where everything is parked. They said fire regulations were reason but pitches all seamed to be same girth and spaces between them the same . Dog area one of the poorest I’ve seen with dumped cut grass and very short . Not a circular walk .Traffic and accessibility no problem. Toilet block fine . Disappointing park .

This site came as a very pleasant surprise. I thought the site may just be a stop over on the way to a destination. I found The Durham site to be a great destination in itself. Immaculate facilities, woodland and river walk from site, and park and ride a short walk away to Durham. Well worth a visit

Well set out pitches with lots of room for car and awning. I very well kept site, toilets spotless. Park and ride just a 5 min drive into the city centre. All the shops just a 6 min drive. Great fish and chipshop, retail park, and garage. Everything handy. Worth a visit .(River cruises look amazing.)

Great location. Very close to park and ride into Durham. Great walk down through the woods to the river which is very picturesque. Also possible to walk along the river all the way into Durham. Site facilities are excellent and the wardens are helpful and welcoming. Fabulous fliwer displays at the entrance to the site and outside the office.

Large site,76 pitches. Choice of hard standing or grass. Lots of room between pitches. Good road surface's. Security gate to entrance. Excellent shower / toilet block. Site very easy to find. Beware that you need to be in right lane as site road turning comes up very quickly. Bit of traffic noise if you get disturbed easily

Can be a little noisy at night from motorway traffic I'm sure a few well planted trees would reduce this good shower block

Nothing wrong with the facilities but trying to get out of the site for walk or bike ride is difficult. The busy dual carriage way poses a problem if you can't move quickly

Love this caravan site although near a busy road you can walk to park and ride and go into Durham City but need a car for other shopping as there is no other shops near this site
