Nice little camp site in a rural location. Well kept with obvious ambition to be bigger and even better with new facilities currently under construction. Some road noise through the night from the nearby busy road is the only negative. But that's something that the owners cannot change! Overall a nice central stop for many of the North East attractions. Would stay again.

A fantastic site. We stayed in β€˜The Shepherds Hut’ - fantastic cabin. The little touches where outstanding such as providing kindling, logs, fire starters and even marshmallows. Dog friendly and even included a dog bowl! A true home away from home in terms of glamping experience. The entire site is well looked after and food / drink is more than reasonably priced. Highly recommend the carrot cake! All the staff are polite, helpful and make you feel really welcome.

A bit of a work in progress, a good site now with the potential of being a great one. New shower block under construction. The present one is good, nice and clean. They have a nice little tea room in the reception area. Once they smarten up the pitches and driveway, they will have a really nice site. Good bus links to Durham and the coast. Good luck to them. They even cut the grass along the roadside up to the bus stop!

Well, what a lovely site. We had a weeks stay in hired caravan which was well maintained and equiped, and very clean. Had drinks and food at little "snack / bar" and bacon butty at the cafe, both very nice. Loved the free range chickens, who also loved my porridge oats πŸ˜„ All the family that run the site are friendly and attentive, lovely family. Location is fantastic, Beamish Museum and Seaham beaches close by as is Durham City. Would definately return one day. Thank you xxx

Fantastic in every respect. Good to see the new facilities progressing at pace now. Big up to Adam for all his help this time which made our visit a lot less stressful than it could have been-top host πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ€œπŸ» See you again soon πŸ‘πŸ»

After being terribly let down by another site we called Strawberry Hill Farm as we were parked in a carpark after a long journey with 2 kids and our dog in the car thinking there would be no hope of having our holiday and we would have to turn around and make the long journey back home again. I was so relieved and grateful that these lovely people found room for us on their site. We arrived there a short time afterwards and was greeted by Adam & Louise who were so welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. The little tea room is lovely and the homemade cakes are amazing. The food is all cooked fresh. The facilities were clean and well maintained as were the grounds. Adam and Louise were always very helpful and informative. The site is only 10-15 minutes from Durham and local super markets etc and the beach is around 15 minutes away. Our holiday started off really badly but we feel lucky that we ended up on Strawberry Hill Farm, it's a real gem and we will definitely be returning πŸ₯° Location was perfect for us. Only 10-15 minutes from Durham centre and local supermarkets. 15 minutes from beach and 30 minutes from Beamish Museum. Facilities were always clean and well maintained.

Lovely quiet site. Ideal base for exploring the North East. Some road noise from the dual carriage way but not really bothersome. The owners are lovely and friendly. Very knowledge about the area. Tea shop sells lovely cakes. New facilities being built when we were there.

Nice site... yes a little noisy from the main road but we were aware of this before we came. Well kept & obviously being upgraded by the construction work being undertaken. The Pub & Kitchen in nearby Cassop is a favourite of ours... although more than a 26min walk as stated on Google!

Been coming for the last few years in our tourer or campervan. Always a very nice welcome by Adam and Louise. Very clean site, showers and toilets immaculate and great home baked goods (best sausage roll outside of Greggs!!)

Can't see how it's 4 star rated. Old, small showers and toilets, and only 2 of each for a big site. Pitches all seem to be sloping so you definitely need ramps and chocks. One moho was on breeze blocks (not sure how they managed that). Chemical toilet disposal very poor, mould all along bottom of walls and hose leaking. I, personally, would never go back here. ☹

We have been a few time before and always had a lovely weekend. I am not sure we will be returning. Our pitch was awful. Water logged and not level we were opposite a couple of tents who were...let's say... bringing the site down. Opened my windows at night to have the smell of weed just pumping into my van. They were loud and the language was appauling. We went out for a meal and came back to them all arguing and threatening each other. Not great for my son to witness. The water tap opposite our pitch has a very high squeak so every time someone uses it it's all you can hear. And of course as they were stood waiting they just look in our van so we felt we had to have the blind down. We always travel with friends. Upon checking in discovering we were no where near them which was very disappointing. We were also told that due to the amount of larger units on site that is why we had the pitch at the bottom. Well it's a shame it's judged this was as our van is actually heavier than some of the 'larger' units. We NEVER book grass pitches and for some reason we were put on one yet we never agreed to this. There was a couple of vans that weekend who arrived and then left. I wanted to leave as soon as we turned up. I didn't even want to unhook the van. If you want to keep returning customers you need to maintain your site. A proper road around the site. Level out your pitches and give People the option of hardstanding or grass. We weren't level from left to right and front to back. You ran down the van it was that bad and no good for the structure of caravans. We used levelers too but it was pointless it just sank in the mud. Oh and when booking with others ..put them together. It's a shame as Louise and Adam are both lovely and yes no complaints with the coffee shop. Cakes were delicious as ever!

I did not like this site at all, situated right next to a hideously fast dual carriageway. Facilities were poor for the no of vans, tents, 2 showers, 2 toilets & yes there is a new facility being built. Dog walk is poor, some folk couldn't be arsed to clean up after their dogs. No footpaths accessible without walking on the dual carriageway. I know from reviews that people like the site buy we will not revisit

Really welcoming, but left to it the next day with no help. The noise from the double carriage way and the A1 is really intrusive. While I would say that Adam was really helpful when he was there and the weather was appaulling, which was not their fault. We were booked in for 3 nights but turned around and went home the next day.

Stayed in a campervan, pitches have electric and is reasonably priced. Site right next to dual carriageway so you can’t walk off site as there are no paths. To exit the site you have pull out, uphill and quickly as it’s a 60mph road and there are plenty of drivers doing it. If you do like a walk, it’s around the small site or venture out in your car / van. Pitch for vans should be wider as you step out onto grass / mud depending on weather. Owners very friendly but no matter what improvements they make, the dual carriageway and the inability to just go for an extensive walk without driving will stop me from going again.

A great campsite, very clean and very well run, a new facility block is currently being built which will improve the site brilliantly, a great location for popping into Durham and many other places.

Lovely spot, dead quiet and chilled, small and not too many people. Facilities were great, the static caravans were very good and nicely maintained. I had a mint time, loved the chickens.

Family run business. Worked and looked after beautifully. Always improving. Home-made food is lush. If I did have to mark against the place, I would have to say its not on the flattest of ground. But that's my needs

The written instructions were spot on for finding the place and the gentleman who greeted us was very pleasant and helpful in getting us pitched. The toilet and shower block was clean although there was no loo paper one day. The Reception/shop is only open a couple of days a week, but the site is secure, with a coded barrier. The negatives were that the pitches were on a slope both sideways and front to back and from the address... Strawberry Hill Farm, Running Waters, SILENT HILL... we were expecting a tranquil site. In fact the site is adjacent to a busy duel carriageway with a fair amount of traffic noise. Also the pitches were rather close together, we felt, with a single track access road having caravans along both sides. We had to have our blinds down to avoid being looked in on by those opposite. Our pitch backed up to a hedge which segregated the caravans from a field of tents and we were unfortunate to have a very noisy tent of people behind the hedge near us who seemed to have no consideration for anyone else but themselves. They were having a good time playing some sort of sport, yelling from the sidelines and shouting their conversations when back at their tent, oblivious to anyone else. We had to play our iPod when inside our van even with the door closed to drown the noise! On my booking form I'd requested a quiet spot as we enjoy peace and quiet, but I don't think this was taken into account. Luckily we were out and about every day or the campers in the tent field would have spoiled our holiday I think

Called in for a look around re future visit with our caravan, we were both impressed though work is ongoing building a new amenities block. The tea shop is ideal with everything being home baked and looking delicious. I couldn't resist taking 2 trifles home, they were moresome.

Lovely wee campsite. Would benefit from more for kids to do. The facilities are a wee bit dated but there looks to be a new toilet block under construction. No noise at night. There is a small horsebox that sells food during the day and a small shop on site. Would return if in the area again.
