Most iconic Indian Army managed site. Salute to Indian army for doing their duty and protect our country from enemies. The experience of seeing them working in such tough weather condition is absolutely commendable and must watch for every Indian. No word is enough to explain the beauty of the place. Just splendid. It's located at about 15200 feet of height. We visited in month of December and at that time it was completely covered with snow all around. We started from Tawang at 9.30 AM and reached Bumla Pass at about 11.00 AM and also visited PTSO lake along the route. It is 32 kms from Tawang . Local taxi rate is Rs 6000 and have to take DC permission one day before. The road conditions were not good but driver was very experienced to get us here safely. There is an army operated canteen on site which serves basic things such as Soups, Maggi, Tea/Coffee etc. There is a souvenir soap as well along with some apparel's with army prints. These items are sold at vary reasonable rates as their are run with no-profit-no-loss idea. In the end, we were overwhelmed with joy and respect for our soldiers. On the way back, we could cover Sungester Lake which is also famous as Madhuri Lake.

Bumla Pass is a true Himalayan jewel, and my recent visit left me spellbound by its breathtaking beauty and historical significance. The journey to Bumla Pass is an adventure in itself, with the rugged terrain and winding roads offering glimpses of the stunning landscapes that unfold along the way. As you ascend to this high-altitude haven, the air becomes crisper, and the panoramic views of snow-clad peaks and pristine valleys are simply awe-inspiring. Standing at the Indo-China border, Bumla Pass provides a unique opportunity to witness the harmony of nature and history. The stark beauty of the surrounding mountains is complemented by the historical markers that signify the meeting point of two nations. The experience of being at this strategic border post is both humbling and surreal. The hospitality of the Indian Army personnel stationed at Bumla Pass is commendable. Their warmth, dedication, and tales of bravery contribute to the overall experience, offering visitors a deeper appreciation for the challenges faced in safeguarding our borders. The iconic "Maitri Bridge," symbolizing friendship, is a symbolic structure that adds a touch of unity to the stunning landscape. The prayer flags fluttering in the mountain breeze create a serene and spiritual ambiance, making it a perfect place for reflection and appreciation of the natural wonders that surround you. While the journey to Bumla Pass requires proper permits due to its proximity to the border, the process is well-organized, and the strict regulations are in place to ensure safety and security. In conclusion, Bumla Pass is a must-visit destination for those seeking a unique blend of natural beauty, adventure, and historical significance. Whether you're a history enthusiast, nature lover, or simply someone looking for an unforgettable experience in the Himalayas, Bumla Pass promises to leave an indelible mark on your heart. Highly recommended!

Get ready to experience a place that oozes with patriotism and pride! But hold on tight, because you're in for an adventure - there's no network in this spot, so get ready to disconnect from the outside world. And don't forget to snap as many pictures as you can before entering the main area, as photography is restricted for security reasons! Once you arrive, you'll head to a small shed where you'll hand over your pass and gear up for an unforgettable exploration of the area in turns. And when you're feeling a bit chilly, don't worry - they've got you covered with piping hot coffee and Maggi that will warm you right up. Get ready to immerse yourself in a truly unique and exciting experience! TO BE NOTED : Please layer up properly from head to toe.

Kashmir is known as the 'Heaven on Earth ', but Arunachal Pradesh is basically a hidden gem of India . It is a land of totally unexplored natural beauty ... Bumla pass is basically a feather in the crown of Arunachal. It is snow covered land route which connects both India and China.. The total area is protected by the Indian army, and if you want to visit the place, u have to take special permission and have to maintain many precautions. But the natural beauty and the view of mountains around you covered with snow, will transform ur tour into a memorable one...

You need pass to enter/travel to Bumla pass. Only local vehicle is allowed with pass. It's extremely cold out here, hence need to carry proper warm clothes; the temperature in pick winter goes down to -25 to -30 degrees as well. We travelled on 16th November 2023 and the it was still very very cold and windy. The altitude of this place is 15200 ft. Army personal escort you to the border post, where you can see Chinese soldiers as well, but photography is strictly prohibited. Remember this is not a border post, this is LoC (Line of Control). This is indeed should be part of your travel itinerary if you are planning to travel this part of Arunachal Pradesh but remember to check whether updates, as often during winter months the roads get blocked and it becomes off limit for the tourists. Vehicle from Tawang charges around 5500 for a round trip which includes madhuri lake, Tso Lake and Bumla pass.

Exploring the high-altitude terrain was an incredible experience. Amidst the breathtaking beauty, I couldn't help but appreciate the cautionary advice: "If you have weak lungs, please carry an oxygen can." The thin air at high altitudes posed a risk of mountain sickness, emphasizing the need for precautionary measures. Despite the potential challenges, the place exuded an undeniable charm. The sheer magnificence of the surroundings was awe-inspiring. As I absorbed the scenic beauty, I found myself drawn to stories of bravery narrated by our soldiers. Their tales added an extra layer of reverence to the already majestic landscape. One notable spot was the Bumla Pass, an imposing route that required more than just casual motoring skills. Navigating through this challenging terrain demanded a high level of riding expertise. The rugged path tested the limits of both the rider and the machine. It became apparent that conquering the Bumla Pass was reserved for those with a mastery of the art of motorcycling. For those less inclined to brave the challenging journey themselves, an alternative option presented itself. Hiring a share taxi or cab provided a more accessible means to witness the wonders of the region. This way, even those without advanced riding skills could still partake in the adventure, enjoying the scenic drive without the need for personal navigation through the demanding Bumla Pass. In conclusion, my journey to this high-altitude destination was marked by a dual narrative – a cautionary note urging preparedness for the thin air, and the allure of a splendid landscape coupled with tales of valor from our brave soldiers. Whether opting for a daring motorcycle expedition or a more relaxed cab ride, the experience promised a blend of natural grandeur and the profound history of the region, making it a memorable and enriching escapade.

Beautiful place for snow lovers. mountains and roads are covered with heavy snowfall. Entire route to bumla pass is a breathtaking one. During winter, November to February there will be snowfall and only local SUV vehicles like Innova, Xylo, are allowed. Charge is Rs.5500 From bumla pass entry point to border line you need walk along with a group where Jawans will accompany and explain the history. Take enough cash, minimum Rs.10000 when you visit to bumla pass. There is an army canteen/shop where you can purchase tea shirts, pants, boots, coffee, tea, soup, Maggi etc. Online payment option not available.

Bumla pass is the border line for India and china. The road from thawang to bumla is under the control of army. So we have to obtain an innerline permit to enter. On the way is sungetsher lake and it's very scenic, but we are not permitted to photograph the way. The border gives us a satisfying feeling of freedom. Jai hind.

The journey from Tawang to here itself is awsome. As you cross 12000 ft dense confir forests make for a beautiful drive. The. As you cross 14000 ft you are abovd the treeline and a beautiful scenery accompanied with rhodendron bushes accompany you to the border. The complete road is army area and you need special permissions from the administration and army to visit here. Only Indian citizens can go visit. Permissions take at least one day and your hotelier can get it done. The visit to the border itself takes about half an hour. The whole tour takes half a day. Be prepared with winter clothes as this is at 15700ft and cold. Some people may face breathing trouble due to less ocygen, we did not feel any problem. The place is beautiful both due to nature and also because of the emotions involved being a border post and with a history. This is a prime visit for Arunachal trip

Staying just 450 km away in Guwahati, we hadn't been to Tawang till now. Finally we decided to visit between 23rd and 25th Oct 23. Awesome experience! Trip to Bumla was mind-blowing. The chill, the starting of ice formation in some parts. The majestic Himalayan ranges and it's foothills. We were spellbound. Access is tough, but "when the journey is tough, you are bound to see enchanting places!" Loved the trip!

Bumla Pass is an awe-inspiring destination with breathtaking views. The journey was mind-blowing and worth every penny. I also had delicious Maggi and soothing soup at Bumla Pass, adding to the memorable experience. The cab charged 5500 for the trip, which was reasonable considering the experience. Do bring warm clothing and proper gear for the unpredictable weather. Don't forget to carry essential supplies and stay hydrated throughout the trip. Enjoy the mesmerizing landscapes at Bumla Pass!

This pass holds historical significance as it was a route used by the Dalai Lama to escape to India from Tibet. At an elevation of about 16,500 feet, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains and is a site of interest for both tourists and those interested in the region’s military history.
