5/5 River R. 6 years ago on Google
I
enjoyed
Pork's,
and
on
a
personal
level
I
give
it
a
5
star
because
it
met
my
criteria
of
friendly
people
and
great
food
at
a
reasonable
price.
That
being
said,
Pork's
may
not
be
everyone's
cup
of
tea,
because
it
is
in
an
older
building
in
the
"downtown"
area
of
the
little
town
of
DeSoto,
and
the
main
bar
is
a
dark
room
(and
I
believe
windowless).
If
you
want
a
bright,
heavily
decorated,
river-view
bar
with
a
custom
music
mix
playing
then
you
need
to
go
elsewhere
(
the
Great
River
Roadhouse
to
the
north
on
hwy
35
is
a
nice
place
that
fits
that
criteria,
but
is
more
expensive).
We
were
vacationing
in
the
area
(a
popular
fishing
and
camping
destination),
and
were
made
to
feel
at
home
by
the
staff
and
relatives
of
the
owner
(who
are
area
farmers).
The
owner
Pork
was
grilling
steaks
for
an
outdoor
party
during
our
second
visit,
and
gave
us
a
smoked
hard
boiled
egg
off
the
grill.
There
is
a
large
U-shaped
bar
inside,
a
breezeway
with
some
shaded
seating
at
street
level
(ashtrays
were
visible
in
this
area
for
smokers),
and
a
lower,
backyard
area
with
11
picnic
tables.
It
was
quiet
inside,
with
just
conversations
taking
place.
They
allowed
my
wife
and
I
to
sit
in
the
picnic
table
area
with
our
dog,
and
even
gave
me
some
water
for
her.
Pork's
food
menu
includes
pizza,
broasted
chicken,
and
sandwiches.
We
had
a
sandwich,
but
I
heard
from
others
that
the
pizza
and
chicken
are
very
good.
Our
pepper-cheese
cheese
burgers
were
thick
and
juicy,
with
a
generous
portion
of
tasty
cheese,
and
my
order
of
beer
battered
fries
was
large
and
nicely
seasoned.
My
wife
and
I
enjoyed
it
so
much
we
went
back
for
the
same
meal
the
next
day.
On
our
two
visits
customers
were
a
mix
motorcyclists,
vintage
car
guys,
other
locals,
fisherman,
etc..
On
our
two
visits
the
age
group
was
primary
30s
to
50s.
I
highly
recommend
Pork's,
and
I'd
be
a
regular
if
I
lived
in
the
area.
