Brilliant visit and worth the price. The “museum” is a massive collection of wood carvings of many different subjects on lots of different types of timber. There are also some large scale paintings on slabs of timber. The “contemporary” part is that these are mostly recently completed pieces. If you like gazing at lots of different types of wood, or some amazing carving and painting skills, you won’t be disappointed.

What a beautiful and unique museum and collection! We have learned so much in our visit thanks to the guide who was knowledgeable and kind. The collection has incredible sculptures and paintings, all wood! They don’t carve new trees and actually planted many new trees. Highly recommend for a visit

Tickets were 100,000 each, which is a lot compared to the national museums, but it was worth it to see. The museum is not quite “contemporary” art. It’s completely filled with huge wood carvings depicting lots of Buddhas and traditional Southeast Asian iconography. There are SO many carvings. Hundreds. Many of them are extremely intricate and blend the weathered textures of the tree trunks with the sculptures. There’s also lots of paintings. Worth the visit.

Stunning wood carvings, Despite the repetitive nature of so many of the wonderful carvings their beauty and the skilled artisanship are a pleasure to see and enjoy. The beauty of the entrance pathway and the layout of the building, the lighting and the amazing carpentry and other features ensures a restful and enjoyable experience. If you are looking for art to buy or modern and contemporary artwork and carvings and have seen enough bhudda images then I suggest you look elsewhere.

This is one of the best museums of beauty and art. Each single piece is detailed n mesmerizingly done. We are happy to spend time there...I wish I could spend more time.... Everyone should visit at least once...

From saved tree roots and trees they have carved magical forms mainly Asian Buddha. The museum is overfilled with carvings and paintings but has not been organized yet. They need a modern art curator as quickly as possible to organize and put this place on the map. The painting on the wood has been done by Lao women and the carving from other Asian sources. It is certainly unique but I would not call it a contemporary art museum. We know you should be reviewed as the use of the word contemporary is misguided.
