The owner (sorry that I forgot to ask his name) is very friendly. He welcome us with smile and introduce us to the room. The hotel located in the heart of morning market and near to the night market with only 2 minute walk. A bit regret that there are garbage bags left on the street nearby hotel as it used to be market in the morning before. (But seem it will be clean at the evening). The room was so clean with homie atmosphere. However, you may hear the sounds from outside or the room next door if they speak with loudly noise. Fortunately, I did not get bother by that in my 2-night. Air-condition in my room not that cold as I expected. (For whom who love the cold night sleeping like me) but maybe ok in the winter.

The reception by the host is very friendly. The Mali House location is probably one of the best in Luang Prabang as it is located centrally next to the morning market and just a 5 minute stroll to the night market and various other sites to see including the temple on Phousi Hill (332 steps) and a stone throw from the Mekong river. The air conditioned room was spacious but did not have a fridge which in my opinion in a hot climate is a must to keep your water and other drinks cold ❄️. Unfortunately it is not allowed to have food in the room (a fridge could solve that problem). The bathroom has a western toilet and decent shower (above and handheld shower). I also recommend the Svan cruise on the Mekong river for a romantic sunset cruise (about 2 hours). Overall this is a great place where you can have a morning coffee from the coffee shop ☕ in the garden and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the morning market.

Room was spacious, furnished with quality furniture and appliances, the whole property has been looked after very well. It is strategically located, just literally a few steps away from the ever busy morning Market and Mekong river. American hospitality from Andy was a bonus, would definitely come back again.

Beautiful house, traditional style, well maintained, great location at the morning market and (right next to) the night market. We had a nice and quiet room in the back, probably the smallest room of the house (which was fine enough for us), with a tiny balcony. When peeking inside some other rooms they were all more spacious and even more beautiful, so you really can’t go wrong in Mali House. We loved our hot shower. However, since we are both quite tall, we found the raised bed edge at the foot end a bit uncomfortable (but manageable).

We felt at home as soon as we arrived at Mali House thanks to Andy's hospitality. We were in one of the upstairs rooms and loved having a balcony overlooking the morning market. We really got a sense of Luang Prabang living. The room and bathroom were spotless and we especially appreciated the high quality shower. No breakfast included but Mali House has a stand making excellent coffee and you can pick up goodies in the market. Thoroughly recommended.

Mali House-just by the name, I can tell the stay will be wonderful. Indeed! it was, Spotless, clean room & good showers. lovely garden, room with a terrace and location right by the morning market. The highlight? it was the warm hospitality, friendly & great sense of humour from hosts Andy & Venus. Coffee of course! even though we stayed only a night, Andy showered care to all guests just the same. We felt like staying with friends. Thank you!

I loved every moment of may stay here! Andy and Venus are warm, generous hosts and very interesting to talk to. Andy made great recommendations for places to eat (Tom Yum in the Food Court for the best pad thai, and the stand by the river for wonderful omelettes)as well as helping with where to book train tickets and the best way to get to and from the station. He also took me to his local temple during prayers which was unexpected and fascinating! I had a wonderful room facing the morning market with a delightful balcony. Wooden shutters kept both the mosquitoes and noise out evening/early morning and it was clean and spacious. Did I mention the delicious Lao coffee??!! Americans were buying it to take back home! Thank you, Andy and Venus for a memorable stay - I hope to return sometime!

Had another wonderful stay at Mali House, this time a bit longer with 6 nights. Time flies, and we enjoyed hospitality from Andy and Venus over Christmas. With morning market at your doorstep, entertainment and delicious breakfast options abound. Night market up the street, and night food court 300m away with numerous options. Andy can also share some local favourites you would never find yourself.

What a gem! I stayed for 4 nights and had the best time at Mali House. Andy was the best host ever - we had great chats over morning coffee and he made my time in Luang Prabang unforgettable. The rooms were clean, had hot water and great AC. I loved the little porch as well, it's so calming to watch the morning market down below. The location is great, I could walk everywhere. If I'm ever back in Luang Prabang I will definitely stay here again! Thanks Andy!

After several hotels through Southeast Asia, Mali House was a fresh air where we could really rest in a central location in Luang Prabang. The owner, Andy, is really friendly and welcomed us in the best way possible. Despite being in a central location, the room was quiet, clean, and comfortable, all you need in a bedroom. From there you can walk to the main attractions of the city. If we get back to the town, we will return to Mali House for sure!

The room was clean and comfortable. They clean your room every day. AC worked well! The host, Andy, was welcoming and always ready to help! The location was also great, just a minute walk from night market, morning market is right in front of the facility as well. Overall, I’m very satisfied staying here and if I come back to this town, I’d stay with them again!! :)

Best place to stay in Luang Prabang so far. Andy and his family are very informative and very helpful when I travel alone. The room is very clean and safe with a lot of facilities. I feel like home when I were there.

Absolutely loved my stay here, it was short but Andy made me feel very much at home. He’s super helpful and friendly, and even organised a private tour for me. It was much cheaper than doing it online and you’re free to do whatever you want if that’s what you prefer! The room was perfect, good bed, clean bathroom with strong water pressure, and with aircon! (No hairdryer or kettle but water is provided) Room is cleaned daily and towels are replaced. The road outside may be noisy in the morning since it’s on the morning market but it wasn’t an issue for me at all and it’s perfect because breakfast is available on your doorstep from 6am. Andy also offers really good coffee and his wife has a juice bar on site as well. Not a party hotel!

I had 4 nights at Mali House, but I was made to feel at home right from the start. This is such a friendly place with generous, helpful and knowledgeable hosts that would do anything for you. They stored my bike securely, suggested things to do, introduced guests to each other and created a family atmosphere. The rooms are great, the coffee is great and the location is superb but all of that is exceeded by the feeling of friendliness here. 100 stars and many thanks !

We stayed for 2 nights in 2 different rooms. The rooms are amazing. Definitely the one on the sight of the morning market. It has a really nice balcony. Also the bathroom is really nice. Everything is very clean and good hot showers. The owner Andy made us feel welcome immediately. And he also serves good coffee. Nice to drink a good cup of coffee right next to the morning market.

Fantastic place to stay. Right in the middle of the morning market. All the amazing smells and sound's give you a truly authentic experience. However with the doors closed, the sound is blocked out if you want this. Andy and his wife Venus were incredibly friendly and kind, giving us tips and recommendations to make our stay more enjoyable. The room was very comfortable and had a lovely little balcony that looked over the morning market. Everything was clean and well looked after. I can't wait to return one day!
