An undiscovered gem, I was the only Traveller here. A refurbished traditional house with more information than its National Museum. Learn about their house visiting ceremonies, the morning alms, dress code, instruments to even culinary arts! There is a small cafe with well at the back and a wash room. Do not turn left into the monastery as one of the dogs will bark at you and rile up the other dogs and monks… 🌿 Entrance Fees Comes in 3 pricing: • 10K Kip to ‘Walk Around’ (Pretty useless & I’ve asked them to remove this. It’s more for the locals who wanted to rent the traditional dress and take photos I think) • 30K Kip for the ‘Walk Around’ + Museum of the traditional house • 40K Kip for the above plus 1 soft drink (She tried to upsell me this 😂) They actually have traditional herbal teas which you should definitely try instead of drinking unhealthy sodas which has no cultural experience nor nutritional value. Just top up 10K (Total 50K) to get Iced herbal teas like: Butterfly pea / Pandan / Lemongrass / Bael / Roselle. They are eco friendly and uses bamboo straws. ☺️

A lovely little sanctuary tucked away behind the busy main streets. They run short art and craft courses here as well as cooking classes, there’s the museum itself and a cafe and actually just walking around the garden is relaxing and free! I recommend doing a one-hour course for 80,000 Kip which includes a mulberry tea, bottled water, museum entry (which otherwise will cost you I think 20,000) and whatever art or craft you make. I did the paper making class which was really interesting and relaxing, strangely therapeutic!! Although the class is “one hour” your paper creations will need a few hours (actually, more like 24 hours) to dry... so don’t be like me and leave it to your last day right before you pack and hop in your taxi and head to the airport! Do it at least a day before you leave Luang Prabang!

You can see traditional Lao houses. We recommend getting a ticket that includes a drink as it is a great deal.

This is a really beautiful place to come and see how traditional, richer people used to live. Beautifully set out, good information and a nice café to get drinks and snacks.

This was a unique experience enjoyed with new friends and great bamboo weaving teachers. This little sanctuary offers a lot of classes and history for those interested. I never thought I’d join a bamboo weaving class but I’m happy I did, even though it was confirmation that I won’t quit my day job haha. Everyone was very patient and eager to teach! The heritage house was especially interesting as it has stood stood and been preserved for over one hundred years. A must see for a little extra cultural experience.

Maybe the workshops are good here but as a Museum, it’s just alright. The other museum TAEC was similar but better. They CAN be compared! Both focus on aspects of traditional Lao culture and the various Lao tribes. The house looks like it should have things going on but no one is there except for a guy at the front on his phone. There are no signs giving you directions. There’s another house with clothes in it but no directions. Some things under the house but no signs or directions. It feels like a place that should have things happening but instead it was awkwardly quiet and empty and there really is nothing to do or see except the few things inside the house.

We did the $10 bamboo/hr weaving course, which was very interesting and quite challenging. Our instructor was very patient with our slow progress and managed to rescue our crafts when we broke the bamboo 😅. After the class he gave us a personal tour of the house and was very knowledgeable of its history, happily answering our questions. Overall we ended up spending 1.5 hours with him, beyond even the original schedule. Great time, would recommend.

Situated down a pretty laneway on the Main Street of Luang Prabang, this historical project is well put together. As well as getting a good idea of how the Lao people lived and socialised 100+ years ago, you can let your imagination run wild and ‘dress up’ with rich garments and pretend you are Royalty for a day. Totally worth a visit.

Very informative if you want to know how traditional houses in Luang Prabang looked like. Entrance fee is 10 000 kip. Museum costs 20 000 kip. Can highly recommend visiting the Museum. It's small but interesting. There are also workshops available like bamboo weaving, cooking courses, etc.

A very cute and historical place. The detail in the explanations were great to understand the culture better. I was impressed on how cold the rooms were without ac and it being middle of the day. Had a drink while waiting out the sun. Cheap to enter but really hard to find the entrance. There is an alley off the main road that looks like a person's house. You have to walk through to the temple and turn right. There is another alley to enter from the main road but still a bit hard to find. If you ask someone they can direct you.

I visited during a arts and crafts festival, so this location was beautifully decorated so in addition to the heritage house itself, there was a lot of things to see, ranging from artisan crafts and food stalls. They have an herb garden in the back and had also set up a small coffee shop. The house itself has been well maintained and depending on the event, you are also able to enter and explore. A good place to stop and take a breather while getting a closer look at Laotian heritage.

Very nice place to visit with a calm & peaceful environment ideal for a bit of rest while sipping coffe or drinks. Interesting although limited amount of historical items which sit in the traditional building's environment well. They have the option to dress in traditional clothes and take photos in various spots and settings in the garden and house. The staff who deals with the dressing though, didn't seem very keen to do their job and acted like we were bothering them by wanting to pay for their services. That's the only thing they should work on, and the only reason for 4/5 rating. The than that, cool place to visit.

Beautiful location, full of amazing flowers and plants. The museum on the first floor is worth the visit, photos well documented and interesting. There is also a little corner for drinks in the garden. Suggested!

Amazing experience! There are waterfalls and caves in orher places but no other place like this in Luang Prabang, where you can see a historic Lao house, understand history and customs. And the highlight was learning how to make mulberry paper, decorated with flowers and leaves, with Mr. Kham. It is an opportunity to learn about an ancient Lao craft and learn about his interesting life and how he learned to speak English so well. This was a highlight of my Laos trip and I am grateful to Mr. Kham and the staff for their dedication. For those into selfies, you can rent a Lao outfit with jewelry, and even a photographer. You can also learn other crafts like bamboo weaving. Restaurant on grounds was good and you get 10 percent discount with admission. Beautiful setting to have lunch.

Good place to learn some local culture. Many people take photos with traditional Lao clothing which is very beautiful and elegant.

Small museum that is nice go learn about how local elites once lived, but overall not too much to see (without participating in the class/ experience).

Interesting little house with a museum on top. Pretty small, you will be in and out in about 20-30 mins, but not expensive to enter, around 30k if you want the museum as well. The museum contained information about the Laotian way of life and was pretty interesting. Staff were friendly. Definitely worth a look if you are in the area.

It's quite a nice place to be able to dress up in traditional clothes, jewellery and props and scene setups. There are photos of sample costumes and prices in the corner, and different scenes set up to take photos in. We came in the afternoon so it was crazily hot, (the changing area is open to ambient air). There is a tiny cafe that serves cold drinks. Best to go in the morning; if you need a photographer and makeup, you will need to book in advance, but the lady will do your hair for you.

A nice place to relax. I did not pay to see the small museum. Why is this place an attraction?

Great place for a little history and culture. Has some old classic Lao music playing in the background you can't hear anywhere else. Great costumes for the family also.

A beautiful, well-preserved heritage house hidden in the middle of town. They toured us inside the house, and i found a lot of interesting objects there. They sometimes offer workshops and they have a nice herb garden where you can relax and order some drinks and snacks. It's a good place to spend an hour or two!

The cooking class was an unique experience that you must do in LP! The cook explains you every dish in detail, using the traditional Lao techniques and new methods also. We did 6 different dishes and shared everything afterwards with a nice talk! During the class (4hs) you are provided with fresh drinks and tea and you also get a guided tour in the museum. I took it in the afternoon, which is a good idea because of the hot weather. If you are in LP, you can't miss it!
