Beautiful experience! This private museum is a gem. The textile component is just one part. The buildings in the compound & the gardens are amazing. Vientiane should be proud to have this asset

Lovely experience to see how naturally indigo is fermented, and explore different techniques of tie die. I was introduced to a new tea, and it blew me away the moment I added lime! Staff can show you the process of making silk to making beautiful patterns.

Entry fee is 30.000 Kip. Came there alone and got kind of a private tour. Learned a lot about weaving, could try it myself too. As the other reviews already mentioned the place is owned by a family that runs it. They also import different products from all over Laos small villages to promote their craftsmanship. I stayed there for one hour and sat down with the guide and talked with her for some time, her English is pretty good and she is very friendly. Bananas from their garden and blue leaf tea were for free.

I would recommend you guys to visit here. This is such a nice place that you must come to visit in Vientiane. It’s far from center around 5 km. The cost for entry is 30K kip which is very reasonable. Here you can learn about silk and you can see inside the wooden house upstair. After your visiting they have tea for you and can also shopping for silk or souvenir. I give 5 stars to this place ! ມ່ວນຫຼາຍ 🫶🏻🇱🇦

These old style buildings are home to a display of Laos weaving techniques. Good value at 60Bht per person for entry, which includes an informative guided tour and a refreshing cup of blue tea. The tea is made from a blue edible flower and turns purple when lime juice is added.

Loved it! Got to see all the types of weaving and got to try the easiest type of loom. A lady will show you around and provided free refreshments from her garden. 30,000kip for a ticket.

This beautiful place is very welcoming. As there isn’t much to do in Vientiane, its a good place to learn a bit about the history of lao textile making and colouring. The lady there is very kind and showed me a few things and how to use the weaving table. At the end she even offered me a free tea, which was super tasty. It changed colours after putting in the lime, super cool!

Lovely family and museum. Really interesting seeing how the indigo is made and we were served a delicious butterfly pea tea after our tour.

Great experience in the museum (open 9:00 to 16:00) where people can see traditional weavers performing different techniques of weaving, requiring high skills. There are also very clear panels explaining all the steps of the weaving process, from worms to to final product. Upstairs there is a very unique collection of old weaved textiles. The building (built in the last 20 years) is very representative of traditional Lao architecture, all in wood, with smart air channels to ensure cool temperature. Then we had the chance to participate into a dying workshop to create our own indigo scarf to take home, with our personally designed patterns. Last bit not least, the staff speaks very well English and is very helpful and kind. One of the last peaceful, green place in Vientiane. A must to spend time in.

Visitors can see beautiful traditional Lao textiles. You can deepen your knowledge as the manufacturing methods and materials are exhibited. Many very beautiful souvenir textiles are also available. It is a beautiful museum built with traditional Lao architecture, a rarity in Vientiane. The staff are all friendly and will make you feel comfortable during your visit.

This is one of the must-visit places in Vientiane. It was an honor to meet the co-founder, and master weaver Bouavanh Phoumin. She explained the weaving, and dyeing process, and personally toured me around. I learned so much about the Lao textile, and appreciate the process of weaving.

The museum is a little way from the city center but is certainly worth the trip. A number of buildings are located around a green lawn - it is a very peaceful and cooling place - you can easily spend some time relaxing in the garden or the rocking chairs after seeing the museum. The museum shows very well how the different weaving processes are carried out and the staff is super friendly. We enjoyed the visit.

Very lovely place to experience how traditional Lao garments are made via Kit & Chok (more complicated design) methods. The hosts are kind and will walk you through Lao traditional clothing, Sinh, and even introduce to you how the Indigo color is naturally made from leafs of a plant! Laos is the only country that does this indigo color without chemicals.

We had a good and local traditional experience here. Friendly and welcoming staff, got to try weaving ourselves and got treated with butterfly pea tea. Wo chose it because at 30k kip it is reasonable value compared to tourist traps and expensive alternatives like contemporary art museum at 100k kip

Very nice initiative! We enjoyed finding out so many interesting things (which I won’t tell you, because it’s better to go and find out for yourself:) The place is not super big and you can visit it in 20-ish minutes if you go full speed, but the charm is to slow the pace and enjoy it. The only downside was finding a taxi or tuktuk when we left…took forever and ended up taking a “rip me off” old tuktuk…but that’s another story and has nothing to do with the museum ❤️❤️

Highly recommend - family run by a family working in textiles for generations. Museum itself is set in a beautiful and tranquil location and is very informative. They also have a workshop where you can learn about indigo dyeing and dye an item of your choice for a small fee ($5 to $13 USD depending on what you pick from a bag to a t shirt or silk scarf) - this was a highlight! The entire family was very knowledgeable and friendly; recommend for all From a logistics point of view, I’d recommend having your taxi or tuk tuk who brought you stay and take you back because it’s in a less busy area and finding a ride back might be challenging

We liked it a lot! It's 30.000 kips for 1 person and then a woman follow you to show you everything. Of course she spoke well English and was very nice. At the end a blue tea was offered in the souvenir room (which was very clean, even the bathroom). We recommend!

Best museum in Vientiane with lovely people. Nicely and clearly illustrated. We learned so much about how silk is produced and natural dye is made, and also so much more about people of Lao and what textile means for their cultures. In the end of our visit we were served an amazing cup of tea as well. We definitely recommend.

A loca taxi out here from the center of town costs between $4-5 one way; it was no problem/no wait time to call one back as well. The entry ticket is 30,000 kip. I love textile traditions and thought the visit was worth $11 usd. I wasn't bothered by the lack of tour b/c I already know quite a bit about silk production, indigo dying, etc. I enjoyed seeing women actively weaving and their loom setups, and really enjoyed looking at the vintage/antique examples. i also bought a very informative book on traditional laos textiles written by the owner. nothing trains the eye like exposure to quality, i highly recommend investing the $25 to visit this place and read the book before getting spendy at the night market etc.

Essential place to visit to see priceless Lao textiles and buy new organically sustainable garments and textiles. The owner is very informative also. The traditional timber houses are rare and beautiful and the garden is delightful.

I really enjoyed spend few hours in this little oasis. The owner welcomed me and my friend in a very sweet manner. Was absolutely interesting to learn about Laotians textile culture. I am happy they are protecting their beautiful culture. After the visit, they offered us a cup of blue tea.

Had a great experience was a lot more fun than expected. The staff were able to explain and show you the traditional waving process. This really provided a huge amount of appreciation for the products. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn about the history in lao.

Magical spot for textile lovers! Display of wonderful traditional Lao weaving and artifacts in a beautiful traditional Lao timber buildings and ground. Also - a weaving and textile dying workshop. All natural fibres and dyes. Hard to believe that such a gem exists in private hands in Vientiane...!
