Rustic Riverside Retreat Dont expect any kind of fancy luxury or creature comforts in this place, as they really live up to the concept of a eco friendly nature lodge. However the resort comes loaded with charm and character and a great place to reconnect with nature! IF the place spends a little bit more and paid attention to all the amenities and boosted their quality this could surely qualify to be a five star resort, thanks to its spectacular setting! LOCATION: Located on the banks of the lovely Nam Khon river and in the shadows of green hills and mountains that surround the place DINE + DRINK: Sweet Restaurant and bar that also has a outdoor terrace seating with spectacular views of the jungle and river. They have a good selection of Laotian and international cuisines. ROOM: We stayed in the Nam khon Suite #8, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Sweet view of the River and jungle from a huge balcony attached to the room ; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good spa quality cosmetics FACILITIES: Super rustic Gym that blends with the nature with more of functional workout equipment and cross fit type of stuff. Cannot workout in the heat for sure as it is semi outdoor. THey also have a Badminton and Volleyball ground on site. The swimming pool is more like a ‘pond’ and certainly not the kind of aqua amenity one wood expect from a place like this SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Medium-speed Wi-Fi(~ 30 Mbps) that works well all over the property. NO Television in the room!

Awesome spot. Very quiet, comfy glamping location. If you’ve got some extra coin to go from a back packer to splash packer, then this is the place to go big. Even on colder nights, the extra duvet and space heater keep you comfy. The fit and finish of the bathrooms are nicer than 99% of all the toilets in Laos. I’ve lived here 7 years, so I’m not kidding.

Beautiful lodge located in a paradise garden! Very authentic and untouched place directly by the river! The tents are very luxurious with an amazing private platform allowing river view. A pure, calm and magic atmosphere i enjoyed wake up in. The staff is very friendly and service oriented. They offer Yoga or meditation in the mornings and you can book trips outside the lodge like tubing. The vegetables served in the restaurant are coming from their own garden - super nice experience to eat super fresh! The internet connection is very good! Overall a place to definitely come back to.

Truly a magical place. Spent 4 nights here but wish I had two weeks. Incredible atmosphere, wonderful yoga everyday, delicious organic food, everything is handmade and feels like it’s made with love, and this place is the most comfort I’ve yet experienced in SE Asia. Also quite affordable. The grounds are just incredible as well. It’s truly rare to find a place like this, and I feel lucky to have stumbled upon it.

One of the best glamping experiences I’ve ever had. Clean unique rooms, fresh organic food, and overall just super relaxing atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend staying and hope to be back soon! Don’t forget to try the yoga!

Perfect Place for vacation in Laos! We stayed for 5 nights and absolutely loved this place. The lodge is located directly by the river with a very relaxing atmosphere. All tents are super luxurious and have an an amazing view. They offer activities like yoga in the morning or you can simply use the gym or jog. Additionally, we were kayaking, tubing and enjoyed a boat tour on the bigger Mekong River. The food was very good! We had some amazing barbecues ;) but also very nice vegan/vegetarian dishes. Can absolutely recommend this place!

During our stay, we were in a perfect resort nestled in nature. It's genuinely entirely ecological, with almost all products used being natural. The service is quite good, and all the staff were very helpful. Taking walks within the resort became a daily routine for us. We stayed in a tent, and it was more comfortable than most hotel rooms. The buffet breakfast always offered fresh and diverse items. In three days, we rejuvenated both our spirits and bodies.

Really enjoyed our short stay at the Namkam. Particularly the spa/sauna/cold pool and nice dip in the river. The room was great, close to the restaurant. We stayed a couple of nights in the old town, then here so was a prefect mix really. They offer a handy shuttle into town also which is great. Definitely stay here if you come to Luang Prabang, it's only 15 mins from the airport also so super handy.

Beautiful place, delicious food, and kind people. Everything about it is tailored to getting away and feeling immersed in nature. Easy to get to the city using their free shuttles multiple times a day. You’ll be so happy you chose to stay here and will feel leaving refreshed.

An eco-friendly, meticulously clean place nestled in nature. The staff is very attentive. We never saw any plastic inside; everything is well thought out. It's not far from the city, yet incredibly peaceful and comfortable. A modern accommodation within nature, complete with their own gardens for organic farming. The free shuttle service to the city is also excellent. It was truly a memorable stay!

I came recommended by a good friend, she knows that when I go out to see the world I always choose authentic accommodation, where luxury is nature, but which is maintained. and in degree of comfort and services. I always like to be surrounded by tranquility and nature, immerse myself in it, here I found a very balanced place with nature and luxury. I was in contact from the moment of the reservation with the GM Mr. Savigni, at all times he assisted me, I was able to resolve doubts with him. My 8-day experience has been unforgettable. I chose a store in front of the river and also the suite to try, I liked everything, the owners undoubtedly have a lot of taste, the philosophy is sustainable and conscious tourism, they also offer Yoga, Shikun, open cinema, massage on the river and many activities . It is best to go and see for yourself. What if you have to take into account in the shopping area that tenants must be careful with the noise level, because the canvas is not noise insulating, that the resort cannot control, so if you go take into account to respect The Peace that reigns there. I'll be back for sure, the peace I got there I can't find easily. namaste

Wow. The Namkhan was an incredible stay beyond any of our expecations. The resort is luxurious, with beautifully designed suites complete with full length windows for three sides of the walls and a huge terrace balcony with an open-air bath tub. We enjoyed exploring the resort grounds and finding hidden gem like an open air gym, their yoga platform overlooking the river, bamboo huts and their new infinity pool. I liked that the resort is focused on sustainability and nature, with their very own organic farm and greenhouses where they harvest vegetables and herbs for their farm-to-table restaurant. We experienced both the private BBQ and the cooking class, and can't decide which is our preference because they are both incredible in their different ways. The cooking class taught me a lot about the typical herbs, ingredients and flavours of traditional Lao cuisine - and we learnt to make dishes like papaya salad, larb, curry and sticky mango rice, which we ate in the end in a beautiful riverside hut. The BBQ is a perfect special ocassion dinner as we were the only table on the "island" by the river bank, served by the BBQ Chef and waiter who made sure we had a great evening - including delicious food and lighting up a bonfire as the sun set over the river. We also did the tubing tour with a guide from the resort. Having done the famous tubing in Vang Vieng down the Nam Song river and the tipsy bars on its bank, we didn't expect that this time we would be alone on the Nam Khan river here. We preferred this because we could enjoy nature without the crowds, there were stronger (but still slow) river currents for a good flow, and we felt safe having a guide with us. A bonus was the free shuttle to and from Luang Prabang which we made use of several times. We highly recommend The Namkhan for anyone who wants a luxurious experience while being fully immersed in nature and the Lao culture. I hope I will have the chance to stay here again.

Great time at the Namkhan Ecolodge Hotel. Definitely, staying in one of the big tents is one of the most amazing experiences when it comes to a unique hotel that combines eco-sustainable design with comfort and luxury. The river is all near by the hotel and in front of the tents, which leaves incredible sunsets. Restaurant always open to serve food. Staff is extremely kind and always willing to help you. The hotel is huge and really quite, peaceful atmosphere. They offer several different activities, like cooking, yoga class, kayaking… The electric motorbikes the have for rent are the best (and cheap) way to get to the city, just 10min away from the Hotel.

Amazing stay at Namkhan ecolodge! We booked three riverside tents and were blown away by the quality of services, how pretty the glamping space is, and most of all the food!! Staffs are attentive and friendly: Lan who was the manager of that day didn’t inform us in advance that they charged 3% for credit card payment so we didn’t bring cash but he quickly validate the communication and once he found out that he didn’t communicate it to us, he waived the 3% fee. Staffs at the restaurants (two male staffs and a female staff named Katae) were very friendly as well The glampings were set-up beautifully with all the amenities needed. Not fancy but very cozy! Please note that they do not have fridge but you can leave your medicine with the reception and staffs can bring it to you. The entire space was very relaxing! Feel like this is a peaceful side of Luang Prabang! The food at the cafe was AMAZING! We had both dinner and breakfast there and liked everything! My kid loves their fried chicken with mushroom bbq and can’t stop saying how yummy it is! The salad was super refreshing too! The only two downsides are 1.) the road to the resort was super bumpy! They picked us up in an open style buggy and we all got headache because of the bad road :(( and 2.) the old swimming pool is very dirty with ants, they have newer swimming pool which we loved but it’s at the other side of resort and a bit far from the tent area Still Def a must-visit place ❤️

We loved our stay at NamKhan! We decided to spend a few nights here to relax after several days of trekking, and we had a wonderful experience. We booked the Explorer Tent, but because we were there during the off season they gave us a free upgrade to a NamKhan tent on the river. The tent was lovely and comfortable, with a deck overlooking the river that had reclining chairs, a table and chairs, a yoga mat, etc. The food was fresh and delicious - we loved the breakfast included in our reservation. The pool was under construction while we were there, but they offered to stop working when we wanted to swim so that we could still use the pool. There are many paid activities that you can add onto your reservation (we booked a lovely yoga class and massages), but there are also some free activities you can take advantage of including walking trails, games, a library, etc. The staff were lovely and helpful, and many of them knew us by name. This easily would have been three or four times the price in many other places, and was amazing value for money. The only con to mention was that the "sandy island beach" wasn't very sandy, nor was it much of a beach - and in the rainy season, it was very difficult to get there. But it could be lovely in the dry season! Also, do be aware of the "service charges" that accompany many of the activities that you book.

I wish I could rate the NamKhan higher than 5 stars. The entire tram and experience were exquisite, serene, and full of solitude. The eco-farm is a fantastic part of the overall experience.

Couldn’t speak highly enough of the resort itself - everywhere on the large site was beautiful, stunning views, prime location on the beautiful river, room (the deluxe suite) was ideal and the pool and gym were both excellent. However, there were two things that lead to me dropping stars. Firstly, there are dogs on the lodge which in itself should be a positive. But one dog who hangs around the restaurant area seemed incredibly uncomfortable and even bit my boyfriend at one point. And there was another dog who violently growled at me when I was checking out. I own a customer-facing business and have taken great effort to train my dogs so that they are approachable and friendly, and it seems unprofessional that such a place would not do the same. Secondly, there were many hidden fees included in small things. Water which was not labeled with a price was revealed to be $1.50 per small bottle with an included “service charge” to bring it to our room which we were explicitly told is free. Whilst this price may not be a big deal to some my boyfriend and I are on a Thai salary and so these hidden fees come to a considerable price to us. Whilst all the staff on site were lovely and very caring, hidden fees like this aren’t appreciated. I would still recommend anyone to stay here but am left a sour taste by the two negatives I have stated.

If I had known what a wonderful place the Namkhan Ecolodge would be, I would have stayed longer! The hospitality we received from everyone, especially Lan, Alexis, Onsy and the amazing restaurant team, made us feel so welcome throughout our time at this most lovely resort. We stayed in a luxurious Namkhan tent and loved everything about it— the deck overlooking the river, the large, well-equipped modern bathroom, the lighting, and listening to the river from our comfy bed. The grounds are perfectly maintained and include two pools, an outdoor gym, a play area for children, a huge organic garden, a beautiful yoga shala, and several spots just to sit and enjoy the river. But the unexpected and deeply enjoyed pleasure was the restaurant where we ate both breakfast and dinner during our stay. The freshness and tremendous quality of the food was among the best of our five week trip through Southeast Asia. The chefs are excellent; so much care is put into every meal. The wine selection is well priced and excellent. We took advantage of several of the activities Namkhan Lodge offers. The kayaking was particularly fun, thanks to Mick, and we also loved the cooking class, sunset boat ride and daily massages. Every activity was worth so much more than the price. We only wished we’d spent our whole time while in Luang Prabang at this property. We moved to stay in town after night three, and we missed our tent on the river instantly. We can’t wait to return someday soon and will most definitely plan a much longer stay.

I had the opportunity to spend five nights at the beautiful Namkhan EcoLodge. I stayed there to disconnect from daily life and find peace after a hectic year of work.I chose the newly added Namkhan tent, it was my first Glamping experience and I loved it! The Lodge is in nature at the shores of the Namkhan River, only 15 minutes from the airport. The farm has organic vegetables, and the food concept is healthy with vegan and vegetarian options! I loved their homemade bread and fresh garden salads. You can pick the vegetables by yourself! I joined the cooking class, Yoga sessions, and Kayak and also had the opportunity to exercise in their outdoor gym and ended my days with a massage by the river. I visited the closeby city of Luang Prabang several times and had the chance to combine my stay with the unique culture of Luang Prabang, which is easily reachable by Tuk Tuk or taxi from the Lodge ( approx. 10 min drive) I recommend anyone visiting Laos to stay at Namkhan EcoLodge. It's also an excellent place for those who want to combine work and travel since they offer long-stay rates and a great internet connection! I flew from Bangkok, and the flight time is no longer than 1.15 min - It's a hidden gem; I will be back for sure!

It’s an amazingly tranquil place. A little piece of heaven on earth. Love the location along the Namkhan River. The glamping opportunity. The sustainability efforts, including the farm. Friendly and helpful staff made the stay all the more enjoyable and pleasant. And the house cats and dogs add a homey touch to our stay ❤️

We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful eco hotel! It is a little far from Luang Prabang city but can be easily reached by tuk tuk and the hotel even has a shuttle service at certain times. The hotel is located on the banks of the river, surrounded by picturesque mountains and forests. There are very beautiful views and a stunning sunset. A special atmosphere is created by the staff, very friendly and smiling, it is very pleasant to communicate with them. You always feel like a welcome guest, surrounded by care. We lived in a explorer tent and were very satisfied. The interior is very nice and stylish, soft bed, nice seating area on the terrace and lovely hot shower. Despite the fact that we were in the bosom of nature, we did not get bored, the hotel offers a large number of entertainments: tubing, kayaking, yoga and much more. Separately, we would like to mention the chef, amazingly delicious breakfasts and all other dishes too, which can be ordered in the restaurant during the day. Eco is not just a big name, but a really working concept of this hotel, it even has its own farm where vegetables, fruits and herbs are grown. Therefore, all dishes in the restaurant are not only tasty, but also very healthy. So we are definitely recommend this great place to stay.

Imagine yourself in spacious and confortable tent, in the middle of the nature, near a river flowing down the hill, where you can swim any time you need. At night you can enjoy the magic of a fire camp at the foot of your tent. A wonderful place, to enjoy peacefulness. I initially booked for 2 night but fall in love with the atmosphere and the kindness of the team. I finally stayed 4 night and fully resources my energy and mind. The team is so nice, they make me feel at home. They are always happy to help even after I check out, their manager remained available to help me with my motorbike trip. The breakfast is so delicious, generous, and organic as all the food that they serve. I cannot wait to come back.

5 Star for the staff, hospitality and the resort itself - it is beautiful and the staff are all so welcoming & friendly. Leo the chef was especially brilliant and really made our stay more enjoyable. He has also came up with a really good menu and makes incredible food. During our stay we had a few little problems, which is okay, however a few new problems everyday starts to get frustrating especially when not dealt with. Edited - After Manager staff had seen and replied to my review.

A beautiful place right in the heart of nature! The food is delicious and organic and you can sit back and enjoy the stunning views of the river while you eat. They have so many exciting and unique activities to try out, calming yoga classes by the river, and so much more. All in all, it was such a wonderful experience and such a great place to connect with nature. The people are also very friendly and accommodating, and it is a great place to come with family as the activities are endless. Will definitely visit again!

This place was amazing. It was chill, quiet, there's enough to do and it's filled with nice sitting places. It has an amazing view over the NamKhan river. The tent was so cool but filled with all the things you need and more. Staff is so so so nice and the food is amazing. Special thanks to chef Leo who made the delicious food and the best piece of chocolate souffle. Keep in mind though that because it is in nature, there's bugs. Mainly ants and mosquito's. But that's what you get when you stay around nature.

The shower in our room was not working when we checked in, so we got upgraded in the Namkham Suite which was amazing! On the day we checked out, the road from the ecolodge to the center was super muddy because of the heavy rain. The management organized a car to take us back to the city and one of their staff drove our motobike back to the rental shop. The management have very good business sense and they know how to treat customers. Staff are just adorable, very professional and helpful. This eco-lodge is just perfect. Beautiful landscape, breakfast is very fresh since they grow their own ingredients, they have plenty of activities.. we didn't want to leave it :) We will definitely come back next time we go to Laos.

The property is truly beautiful with every detail considered (river vibes/energy). I really felt the effort you are putting into this eco lodge, the farm, the staff, and the local community. It feels so genuine/sincere - this is what makes Namkhan so special. I enjoyed my fresh meals at the restaurant, my room was cosy / comfy / clean / well designed, yoga classes lead by a great teacher, and a nice selection of tours and activities I participated in. Very special place with a wonderful staff:)

I would truly recommend visiting this accommodation. The rooms are spectacular and comfortable with a range of styles from tents to the luxurious eco farm lodge. I would 100% suggest you do the cooking class with Noy. She was so informative, friendly and clear with the names of plants, vegetables and herbs that go into the dishes. A range of near, fish or vegetarian dishes can be cooked here - just ask. The grounds are beautiful - the river, kayaking, tubing, games & the pool.

Excellent experience. The 3 teenage kids shared a tent (glamping) and LOVED the events - horseback riding, tubing, mountain-biking, garden visits. I took a suite with a bathtub and enjoyed a hot bath! The staff are top-notch. I enjoyed my conversations with Deborah and Saita-Aurore. Food was great too. Highly recommended for a family adventure - especially for families with kids. Bravo!
