MAG UXO Visitor Information Centre, Vientiane

Museum Non profit organization Visitor center

👍 We enjoyed our visit to the centre visitor very much, as it highlights the work of the charity very well. It is slightly sparse and you can easily see everything to see here within 1 hour. It feels more designed for a school visit and education - not necessarily a bad thing. Having visited here, we... People often mention Laos, visit, work, centre, informative,

We enjoyed our visit to the centre visitor very much, as it highlights the work of the charity very well. It is slightly sparse and you can easily see everything to see here within 1 hour. It feels more designed for a school visit and education - not necessarily a bad thing. Having visited here, we went on to visit COPE which covers some of the same material, but is presented in a more stylish, tourist-friendly way. It is a shame that these exist as separate attractions, as they would surely benefit from a combined approach, providing depth of material without the duplication. In this way MAG would benefit from the greater footfall, and heightened awareness.

I check over the years many of the uxo info center in Laos and this one give me an additional good overview about the theme. The staff is really friendly and helpful and you see that is a "profession" and not only a similar job. Everytime i come to Laos i try to visit places likes this because i want know how is the development actually. My personal opinion is. Get an overview and help organisations like this. Its a responsibility of the world community not from one country.....

Despite stating that the centre is open, its currently permanently closed. It has been closed since March 2020. Now they are renovationg, I was told. Don't bother to visit.

Great place to learn something about their work and the sad bombing history of Laos. Entrance is free and it’s basically just one room, so half an hour to an hour is definitely enough time.

Very interesting visitor centre. I’ve seen quite a few UXO exhibitions in Laos and this is one of the best for showing the scale of the situation. Be sure to check out the COPE visitor centre as well if you like this kind of thing. Also very informative guide and nice gift shop.

Very interesting and definitely worth visiting if you have 30 - 40 mins to spare on your visit to Vientiane! Museum is very basic but the quality of information it provides is very informative. It's free but there is a spot to donate at the front desk.

A small, two story museum and a great learning experience if you have 30-45 minutes to spare. You can see the work MAG undertakes to remove unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Laos. Demining equipment, bomb fragments, videos, and stories -- the MAG center has lots to take in. Kid friendly and an important topic to learn about for those visiting Laos. Staff are friendly and the center brought home the deep impact war has had on Laos. MAG is in a walkable part of the city else you can likely park at one of the nearby temples.

A small but highly informative and important museum/charity centre. It has real bombs dropped during the secret war by the U.S which still affects many people in Laos everyday. This centre explains the importance of removing these bombs and providing opportunities to many different demographics in bomb removal to allow a better life not only for the people of Laos, but many countries affected by similar issues across the world. A must visit if in Vientiane!

Very informative centre about the work of MAG in clearing bombs in Laos and other countries. Exhibit is fully in English. Free entry but a donation is highly encouraged.
